I actually started crying when he said the part about taking so many hormones and not wanting them. The only birth control that works for my body and my lifestyle is depo provera ("the shot") and holy sht. Just holy guacamole with a side of chipotle. The 7 days after a dose is such an emotional landslide

Don't forget though that birth control doesnt only prevent pregnancy. There are people like myself who need it for medical reasons. Without birth control I would be in the hospital every months for ovarian cysts.

It's true the doctors even say maintain a healthy lifestyle and it can the body.
Actually I do NEED it. It doesn't cover up symptoms it prevents my body from releasing eggs which cause the cysts. As someone with multiple chronic conditions I hate hearing all the time how they can just be magically fixed by change of diet and exercise. Please next time don't give advice that is false or ignorant. It actually prevents me from being in the hospital and doesn't just cover up symptoms. It's is a treatment/prevention so it doesn't keep happening.
Eli really sucked at this. He came across so badly. And then the “okay ladies you win” - it wasn’t a competition? It was a piece of perspective to encourage you to stand with women.
to be fair, I can see how he thought taking one pill a day would be easy. I am still not convinced it would be as difficult as the guys said. It seems weird that that is the aspect of birth control they would focus on rather than the actual side effects. Everyone has annoying things they have to do, and plenty of people take medications every day.
@@supdude414 and thats just it isn’t it? You’re not convinced. And you wouldn’t be until you tried it. Consistently, day in, day out. At the same time every day. When life has so many challenges. When side effects can be literal brain fog and so forth.
They cannot go into the side effects as they aren’t taking birth control, but yes perhaps a segment asking women how it affects them would have been good. I do think that it’s important to highlight that even at the base level of just administering the medication is difficult to maintain.
Let's not forget the didn't have to deal with weight gain, moody effects of bc pills or any of the other mess a woman has. I mean sheet man my friend has a painful growth on her uterus, that worsens the pain and periods her period is nearly constant and she gets anemia everytime she also breaks out

LadyJustify 😂 Idk it always works like that in Germany because The Gynecologist just writes it down on the prescription and the pharmacist just puts a sticker on it that tells you what to do. I'm very happy with that because I live in a very small town where you know *everyone*.
I don't take birthcontrol but I take 2 different pills (antidepressant and Ritalin) and they just give me those (or say they need to order it and I have to come back later the day.
On the other hand I also have no trouble taking both at the same time every day. My problems are the side effects. It is insane how strong they are.
But why does it take so long? In my country you just come in and show your prescription and they give it to you.

I've been taking birth control since I was twelve because I have severe pain and a extremely heavy flow. It's not only taking for "birth control" but for so many other reasons, I wish people would realize that.

Same, got bad iron deficiency. Was pretty much only awake for 6-8 hours a day due to it at one point when I was twelve. Also passed out, nothing quite like waking up on the floor alone and disoriented. Parents didn’t notice since they were at work, but I am pretty sure there were other times I just passed out and they thought I fell asleep in weird places.
I was lucky that I could afford the more expensive option, since some have severe side affects.
My bff has severe anemia, without birth control she probably wouldn't stop bleeding (which in turn makes her anemia worse). I also wish people knew this is about more than babies, it's healthcare.
Just imagine some random person sitting next to them when the alarm goes off, and then be talking to some other person like "dude I swear, this guy's alarm went off and he went and had ONE SINGLE tic tac. He had a set time to have a tic tac"

I think this video was really well put together, but I wish it had hit harder on the fact that not all women take birth control to avoid pregnancy. Some take it to balance hormones (that's why I take it), to decrease how heavy their period flow is, decrease the risk for ovarian cysts, and many more reasons. But overall, this was a good video to show the daily frustration of taking birth control, and I'm glad BuzzFeed shined a bit of light on the subject.
Wes Is a Mess I relate. After I started taking it, there's nearly no blood at all when I'm on my period, and I don't get as many cramps. That's the reason I'm grateful for birth control. Not the fact that it lowers the chance of pregnancy, but the fact that it doesn't feel like someone is ripping out my ovaries with a rusty nail.

I was about to post something similar to this. I had to start taking birth control after I was in the hospital for being anemic because my period was a month long.
Kayla Aldridge While I had to start just to help my hormones, it's also helped the length of my periods. Sometimes, I would have periods that would last up to two weeks. After I started, they've shortened to 4-6 days.

So my GF doesn’t take the pill. We use condoms and we are fine.
Guys there are tons of different brands of condoms and if you have to pay a bit more than before, but they end up being a bit better then do that.
The first time my husband and I used a condom in all our 12 years together it broke! I had been on the pill but was taking antibiotics so I wanted a backup. Personally, just using condoms aren't worth the risk.

What's your point? Birth control literally saved my life from my horrible unknown bleedning that gave me anemia for 2 years. I even had to get many blood bags for it, so it's good for those that suffer like me or have something similar.

Making sanitary products free would be like making toilet paper and toothpaste free. Just because everyone needs it does not mean that it should be free.

are people this dramatic over taking medicine? im on 8 different medications daily, its really not that hard to take pills once or twice a day

People who aren’t used to it might find it difficult, and taking medications for something which can be prevented by simply using a condom when the medications give u horrible side effects is what people are dramatic about and want men to understand a little

It’s the fact that we’re taking medicine to prevent pregnancy, not treating pain or anxiety or something we’re diagnosed with, while men are often given the free ride. Also, I have to ph $20 a month for it - for something I don’t REALLY need. And the point of the video is to show why it’s an inconvenience to women. I’m sure there are plenty of videos out there that address medication in general
Not counting my vitamins and supplements I take a minimum of 21 pills a day...never want to hear anyone complain...ever!
Thank you Zach. Never pressure a woman to get on birth control if she's too uncomfortable. Every woman is different, but bc can make your entire body (and brain/mental health) go through an entire roller coaster. I studied neuroscience, and the way hormones can change even the way you THINK, it's pretty incredible but it can be challenging. Unfortunately, bc was not for me. I really tried to work with it for 7 months, but my mental health was completely at risk. :(
TheMACKitten I had a period for a whole year from the implant, got the depo shot felt insane the whole last month. Worst feeling ever. Have latex sensitivity. The struggle is severe. I feel for the all the ladies taking bc out here.

I think it's really sad knowing that a lot of women have to use birth control :( Based on a quick google search, pills are 99% effective if used perfectly, 90% otherwise. Condoms are 98% effective for perfect use, 85% if not. Condoms can protect from STDs, pills can't. Then there's the side effects of taking pills... I mean, personally, I don't think taking pills are worth it considering all the stuff it will do to my body :c ...Of course, what you do to your body is your decision, I just hope that all women are at least given that choice...

Once, when I was 11, I was on the pill to skip my period, and I was having blood clotting problems with the heart. The remembering the pill is the easiest thing.

Physically taking a pill isn’t hard. Mine are on my desk next to my bed. I take it as soon as my morning alarm goes off. The hard thing is the side effects: weight gain, mood swings, headaches, loss of labido etc
ChixWithaOpinion I had a HORRIBLE time with it. I decided to do it @8pm and was rarely home so I changed it to 8 am and it was still not easy as I’ve never taken pills before. It’s a routine that takes time to get use to
@@bizzybee438 I could never find a good time to take it, my sleep and work schedule is too messy. It absolutely destroyed my mood (I was constantly sad and angry) and my libido was suddenly non-existent and took MONTHS to get back after going off the pill.
I stopped taking mine, i got prescribed last year, no one told me a side affect was depression, I attempted suicide because I felt so bad, if I had known at the start it was the pill causing it I would have stopped after the first month but i suffered through a whole year... never again, I'll settle for my month long bleeding and anemia over the pill
What bothered me about taking the pills is that every day I felt like I was poisoning myself.

I took birth control pills for about 20 years. That is 7200 straight days of taking a pill at the same time. After all of that, I experienced a very, very rare side effect. My liver developed benign tumors that were undetected until they ruptured. I almost died and had surgery to remove more than 65% of my liver. Now for the rest of my life, I have liver damage that prevents me from many things. In particular taking other, potentially life saving drugs if I ever need them in the future.

My periods used to be so bad that I would miss at LEAST 2 days of school each month. That builds up to about missing 15-20 days of the year. Birth control helped me to not only take control of my education, but take control over my life. The cramps were so bad that I couldn’t even walk.

Docs need to take womens pain seriously and schools/work places should have days off for women who have difficult periods. It can be physically impairing. Sorry you have to go through this, my family has bad periods too and you should ask your doc about possible ovarian cysts too cause that can be related to the pain
I don't take the pill but when my period comes it hurts and i just take a pill for that and that's it
It was the exact same for me!! they were so painful the first few days of my period and no (safe) amount of painkillers would help. It was honestly debilitating and taking birth control makes that part so much easier for me.
I feel you. I have to sleep on my desk because it's the only thing that doesn't hurt. And it doesn't allow me to go home. I MEAN SERIOUSLY BRUH.

Yes! I have a decent amount of medical problems and have been taking many pills a day for the last few years (keep in mind, I’m only 14). I do have to take birth control (not for actual birth control, it’s for hormones) and I have to take it every day at the same time. It was a little hard at first but you get into a routine where you just automatically think about it at the time you’re supposed to take it and you just get up and take it. I’ve only missed a few days and those were because of a vacation and because of a competition

Did you go for an exame before taking birth control? Sometimes the pill is not for every women, as there are other options to use as forms of birth control. I am a man, who has taken birth control, but only for my acne skin condition.

I wish we could give them acne, mood fluctuations, and weight gain because for me that's absolutely the worst part. It makes me feel like a completely different person and it SUCKS. For me at least getting and taking a pill is no big deal.
