I've been taking birth control since I was twelve because I have severe pain and a extremely heavy flow. It's not only taking for "birth control" but for so many other reasons, I wish people would realize that.
Cookie Cat I take the pill because of my irregular periods. I would have a flow for a full month then it stops and returns a couple months later unexpectedly
Same, got bad iron deficiency. Was pretty much only awake for 6-8 hours a day due to it at one point when I was twelve. Also passed out, nothing quite like waking up on the floor alone and disoriented. Parents didn’t notice since they were at work, but I am pretty sure there were other times I just passed out and they thought I fell asleep in weird places. I was lucky that I could afford the more expensive option, since some have severe side affects.
My bff has severe anemia, without birth control she probably wouldn't stop bleeding (which in turn makes her anemia worse). I also wish people knew this is about more than babies, it's healthcare.
Did you go for an exame before taking birth control? Sometimes the pill is not for every women, as there are other options to use as forms of birth control. I am a man, who has taken birth control, but only for my acne skin condition.

Just imagine some random person sitting next to them when the alarm goes off, and then be talking to some other person like "dude I swear, this guy's alarm went off and he went and had ONE SINGLE tic tac. He had a set time to have a tic tac"

ChixWithaOpinion I had a HORRIBLE time with it. I decided to do it @8pm and was rarely home so I changed it to 8 am and it was still not easy as I’ve never taken pills before. It’s a routine that takes time to get use to

Eli infuriates me so much. He should be punished by doing a labor simulation or wearing a pregnancy belly and having pregnancy symptoms since he missed taking the pill haha
Thank you Zach. Never pressure a woman to get on birth control if she's too uncomfortable. Every woman is different, but bc can make your entire body (and brain/mental health) go through an entire roller coaster. I studied neuroscience, and the way hormones can change even the way you THINK, it's pretty incredible but it can be challenging. Unfortunately, bc was not for me. I really tried to work with it for 7 months, but my mental health was completely at risk. :(
TheMACKitten I had a period for a whole year from the implant, got the depo shot felt insane the whole last month. Worst feeling ever. Have latex sensitivity. The struggle is severe. I feel for the all the ladies taking bc out here.
I think it's really sad knowing that a lot of women have to use birth control :( Based on a quick google search, pills are 99% effective if used perfectly, 90% otherwise. Condoms are 98% effective for perfect use, 85% if not. Condoms can protect from STDs, pills can't. Then there's the side effects of taking pills... I mean, personally, I don't think taking pills are worth it considering all the stuff it will do to my body :c ...Of course, what you do to your body is your decision, I just hope that all women are at least given that choice...
Zach: “Men just let them decided don’t pressure them, just let them decide. It’s their body it’s their choice.” Zach gives me hope for future generations.
Since Eli missed it, he should have worn the pregnancy belly for the remainder of the time! With a bag filled with fake pee that would leak, like us women have 2 go through when being pregnant!
So maybe take all the necessary precautions to NOT get pregnant if you know the ordeal it is and aren't prepared for it? But oh no, it's much easier to try and shame men.
@@Razzy1312 no one is shaming men. Just showing them what we go through. If no women got pregnant because they weren't willing to go through the ordeal, we as humans would cease to exist. My periods used to be so bad that I would miss at LEAST 2 days of school each month. That builds up to about missing 15-20 days of the year. Birth control helped me to not only take control of my education, but take control over my life. The cramps were so bad that I couldn’t even walk.
Docs need to take womens pain seriously and schools/work places should have days off for women who have difficult periods. It can be physically impairing. Sorry you have to go through this, my family has bad periods too and you should ask your doc about possible ovarian cysts too cause that can be related to the pain
It was the exact same for me!! they were so painful the first few days of my period and no (safe) amount of painkillers would help. It was honestly debilitating and taking birth control makes that part so much easier for me.

When he said “Imagine if you knew you were doing this for the next 15 years” SIR THATS LIFE FOR WOMEN. FROM PERIODS TO BIRTH CONTROL TO MENOPAUSE- I hate it here
So they think birth control should be free... but not women’s sanitary products... 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 *screams into pillow for hour Just an edit/side note I am slightly educated on the matter. I personally think they both should be free. I get that birth control has other purposes. I’m sick of people comparing it to toilet paper though, Lori Johnson.
What's your point? Birth control literally saved my life from my horrible unknown bleedning that gave me anemia for 2 years. I even had to get many blood bags for it, so it's good for those that suffer like me or have something similar. And I agree with the pad and tampons too btw!
Making sanitary products free would be like making toilet paper and toothpaste free. Just because everyone needs it does not mean that it should be free.
It kills me that Eli was making fun of women for talking about having to deal with it but then he was the biggest baby about it. Guess what, women deal with SOOO much more than just having to remember to take it, and some women get deathly ill on the pill (myself included) and have to deal with men like that (and even other women) that don't understand how difficult it is. I physically can't take the pill because I get so sick I can't eat and can barely do anything because I feel like I'm going to puke my guts out at any second, not like "oh my tummy is upset" but so bad that I literally can't think about anything but trying not to throw up, I couldn't even get through a three month trial of BC pills. Every other form of birth control can be JUST AS BAD if not worse, and you shouldn't have to experience it to understand that and empathize with it.
@@Garbo38 well it's not her fault that you don't have the common sense to understand she pretty much needs it so stfu, you have no right to come at her when you clearly don't understand it
I wish there were more guys like Zach. He had so much empathy and literally thought of it everything women go through. Eli on the other hand, I feel sorry whoever he ends up being in a relationship with cuz he is insensitive, unwilling to learn and have empathy. Garrett and Zach really got what the test meant.
It's covered by insurance. its not 'free' unless you're in a country that has the NHS. and it's covered by insurance because it's taken for medical reason by most women, to regulate or prevent some period symptoms. Tampons and Pads are an option for periods (some like to free-bleed i suppose). They are not vital to our health (unless it caused toxic shock but that is by using tampons not the other way around, and may very well be too late to do anything about) but they should be at least cheaper than they are as they are very much a needed product.
Time and time again Daysha just proves how amazing she is, all the videos I've seen her in or that she's done where the message is important, she hits it hard. "Solidarity not sympathy" Daysha, thank YOU.
stephan walliser this was literally a video about men taking "birth control" pills like WOMEN and raising awareness. It really is about women in this case, not the men.
Patton 22 its because even if they took real birth control they wouldnt really have the effects as well as when they had trial runs for mens birth control it made it to where they could never have children gave sucidial thoughts and burning sensations to the point they couldnt get out of bed they had to stop it
This is why I have an IUD. Also, fact check: a male form of birth control was in fact created not long ago, but the heads of the study stopped it due to side effects like headaches and moodiness. Just let that sink in...
I think that may be a good thing. A woman experiencing mood swings is completely different than a guy experiencing mood swings. Just think of the male athletes that took steroids and kill their families.
6:04 I forgot his name but i love this man. He is so sympathetic and patient and I love that. He was understanding through the process of 1 being apart of it and also getting the "birth control" I think it truly opened his eyes and i appreciate this man.
How is he being rude? I had to take a pill every day for a month at a certain time after I had surgery. Sure its hard but you have to do what you gotta do. Being committed to a responsibility can be hard at times but you have to get used to it.
I think this video was really well put together, but I wish it had hit harder on the fact that not all women take birth control to avoid pregnancy. Some take it to balance hormones (that's why I take it), to decrease how heavy their period flow is, decrease the risk for ovarian cysts, and many more reasons. But overall, this was a good video to show the daily frustration of taking birth control, and I'm glad BuzzFeed shined a bit of light on the subject.
Wes Is a Mess I relate. After I started taking it, there's nearly no blood at all when I'm on my period, and I don't get as many cramps. That's the reason I'm grateful for birth control. Not the fact that it lowers the chance of pregnancy, but the fact that it doesn't feel like someone is ripping out my ovaries with a rusty nail.
I was about to post something similar to this. I had to start taking birth control after I was in the hospital for being anemic because my period was a month long.
Kayla Aldridge While I had to start just to help my hormones, it's also helped the length of my periods. Sometimes, I would have periods that would last up to two weeks. After I started, they've shortened to 4-6 days.
Zach is like the only one who took this lesson to heart

IfYouOnlyKnew lmao if you'd stop sniffing your own farts for two seconds and actually talk to a woman you'd realize it's generally the man that does the pressuring....on second thought though i don't think i'd want to subject any woman to a conversation with you
@@Dr.White_PHD You're disgusting
Boy:Your just trying to make this harder
Woman: this is normal
No, it's even easier than the real pills!! (no hormones nor side effects etc...)
Less than normal infact
I think this is a reference to the pharmacy and it was fairly normal. I would just have added the pharmacist losing the prescription all the time.
Way easier than taking actual brith control, all they have to do is eat a mint Lmaø
i like how you said "boy" instead of "man" lmao
I've been taking birth control since I was twelve because I have severe pain and a extremely heavy flow. It's not only taking for "birth control" but for so many other reasons, I wish people would realize that.
Just wondering- totally don’t have to answer- but do you have endometriosis or something related?
Cookie Cat I take the pill because of my irregular periods. I would have a flow for a full month then it stops and returns a couple months later unexpectedly
i like pizza I don’t take the pill- but anything that works for you! I personally turn into an ibuprofen pill popper every month but that’s just me!
Aww "I cried a little because she's getting pumped with hormones that she probably doesn't want"

Did you go for an exame before taking birth control? Sometimes the pill is not for every women, as there are other options to use as forms of birth control. I am a man, who has taken birth control, but only for my acne skin condition.
Alleria Sunfury I had no idea that the medication that I have been taking was birth control, and when I mentioned to a coworker who is going to school for nursing was wondering why I was taking birth control. I had no idea it was birth control.

Physically taking a pill isn’t hard. Mine are on my desk next to my bed. I take it as soon as my morning alarm goes off. The hard thing is the side effects: weight gain, mood swings, headaches, loss of labido etc
ChixWithaOpinion I had a HORRIBLE time with it. I decided to do it @8pm and was rarely home so I changed it to 8 am and it was still not easy as I’ve never taken pills before. It’s a routine that takes time to get use to
@@bizzybee438 I could never find a good time to take it, my sleep and work schedule is too messy. It absolutely destroyed my mood (I was constantly sad and angry) and my libido was suddenly non-existent and took MONTHS to get back after going off the pill.
I stopped taking mine, i got prescribed last year, no one told me a side affect was depression, I attempted suicide because I felt so bad, if I had known at the start it was the pill causing it I would have stopped after the first month but i suffered through a whole year... never again, I'll settle for my month long bleeding and anemia over the pill
What bothered me about taking the pills is that every day I felt like I was poisoning myself.

Honestly he should have gotten in trouble for that. For a lot of birth control you can't take it around the time you consume alcohol.
Plus he dry swallowed it as well!
I have never head of that before?
ive never been on bc but why cant you dry-swallow?
Zach gets it. I loved listening to him speak. Very refreshing to hear him reflect. A+ guy
Daysha, this video was faaaantastically produced and you are now my role model.
The guy who cried for his girl made my heart melt what a lucky girl
It is so annoying when people are like ”just taka birth control”, well i quess some girls are about to die then
I think it's really sad knowing that a lot of women have to use birth control :( Based on a quick google search, pills are 99% effective if used perfectly, 90% otherwise.
Right!
yeah I was taking the pill for acne and I am pretty sure that taking the pill coincided when I started suffering from depression yelp.

Since Eli missed it, he should have worn the pregnancy belly for the remainder of the time! With a bag filled with fake pee that would leak, like us women have 2 go through when being pregnant!
Boo hoo, men have to go through different problems than us and we dont understand that they have gender specific problems too! WAAAH!

Yes and his pee bag should be inside the waist of tight pants so every time he laughs, coughs, or sneezes the pee come out in his underwear.
I don't take birth control but I do miss a lot of school because of cramps
Docs need to take womens pain seriously and schools/work places should have days off for women who have difficult periods. It can be physically impairing. Sorry you have to go through this, my family has bad periods too and you should ask your doc about possible ovarian cysts too cause that can be related to the pain
I don't take the pill but when my period comes it hurts and i just take a pill for that and that's it
It was the exact same for me!! they were so painful the first few days of my period and no (safe) amount of painkillers would help. It was honestly debilitating and taking birth control makes that part so much easier for me.

I actually thought men would be taking real birth control pills....
BaraPersson That'd be a clinical trial. The real trials were shut down because the men got uncomfortable. What a world.

So they think birth control should be free... but not women’s sanitary products... 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
*screams into pillow for hour
Just an edit/side note
I am slightly educated on the matter.
¿Por que no los dos?
Why cant both just be free
Making sanitary products free would be like making toilet paper and toothpaste free. Just because everyone needs it does not mean that it should be free.
Maybe they should reduce the price. Some boxes of tampons are $9. That kind of crosses the price limit, and it is not what we should be paying for it.

True
When
It kills me that Eli was making fun of women for talking about having to deal with it but then he was the biggest baby about it. Every other form of birth control can be JUST AS BAD if not worse, and you shouldn't have to experience it to understand that and empathize with it.
then dont take it lol go find other stuff

Eli on the other hand, I feel sorry whoever he ends up being in a relationship with cuz he is insensitive, unwilling to learn and have empathy. Garrett and Zach really got what the test meant.
why is birth control free but not tampons or pads?
It's covered by insurance. its not 'free' unless you're in a country that has the NHS. and it's covered by insurance because it's taken for medical reason by most women, to regulate or prevent some period symptoms. Tampons and Pads are an option for periods (some like to free-bleed i suppose). They are not vital to our health (unless it caused toxic shock but that is by using tampons not the other way around, and may very well be too late to do anything about) but they should be at least cheaper than they are as they are very much a needed product.
Why is food not free?
In india it's opposite! Pads are free pills aren't
In Australia it's opposite we have to pay for our birth control.
I have to pay for both in germany.

Taylor-Chan exactly. im glad that i don't feel like im about to die every month aha
Kayla Aldridge that is literally exactly what is happening to me right now
