    I use lemon grass essential oil or orange essential oil with vanilla essential oil mixed in with the orange essential oil with water and a little oil to help my locs smell yummy lol

    I concur with the Carol Daughter's product for what they stated. I loved the Vanilla but haven't tried the Cactus. I must try. I'm on my second year loc journey.

    Thank you for the video. Carols daughter isn’t black owned anymore, so I might have to find something else. I’m new to the dread life and I’m excited 😆. I’m doing vlogs for memories of the process.

      I am actually not using this anymore due to some ingredients that I no longer feel comfortable putting on my hair. I will be uploading a natural DIY hair perfume today. You should check it out =)

    Great tips. I love my hair to smell good also. As my sisterlocks mature I'll try these tips! 😀

      Marcia M thank you ! I would start off by watering down the leave-in quite a bit in the beginning stages (:

    Thanks for the tips 👌🏾 do you know how soon into starter locs ACV can be used?

    • @Niaimani92
      @Niaimani92  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Portia Lujabe no problem! I wouldn’t do an acv rinse until at least 70% of your hair is locked. I also think it depends on hair types. My hair is super kinky, so I didn’t struggle with slippage at all. If your curls are looser I would proceed with caution (:
      Thanks again for the comment sis! I truly appreciate your support !

    Essentials in water, highly diluted. Make your own. All natural. There is also a brand called Zum that I use. It's cheap and last forever. I'm prefer a hippy frankincense smell. Essential oils from your local health food store are the way to go. I just feel like a leave in, leaves in. Thanks for suggestion though.

    I use the same shampoo for deep cleans as it does bring the dirt to the surface but it can be very drying for me I’ve found.
    Love that vanilla leave in conditioner - smells absolutely amazing 👌🏿. But it was sticky in my locs and did nothing but made it smell nice - quite pricey.
    I stopped using the vanilla and gave it to my son for his loose natural hair.
    I’m interested in the other one that you held up so will have a look.
    Thank you

      Thanks for sharing!! When I water down the black vanilla it is less sticky. The Cactus Rose feels a lot less sticky. How does the vanilla work on your sons natural hair? I felt like it caused tangles with mine. It did not give my hair any slip.

      Nia A he literally just used it for the smell, no other benefits as far as he was concerned.

      Leecey Leece I tell ya, Carol’s Daughter knows how to make some bomb smelling products, now if only they could do more lol. She should come out with a hair perfume line.

    i thought we aren’t aloud to use conditioners in our hair cause of build up??

    • @Niaimani92
      @Niaimani92  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Some people say that, however I find that water based leave ins don’t cause build up in my locs. I also did not start using these products until my hair was fully Loc’d. The Sisterlocks official brand has a water based leave as well as other loc hair care brands like Dr. Locs….
      I do not use cream conditioners ins on my locs because of build up. That’s just my choice, however some people do use them on their locs and love it. Part of the journey is finding out what works for your locs.

    • @lope1258

      @@Niaimani92 thank you for explaining!! and yeah i don’t use cream conditioner on my locs because my mom said it causes build up. i had no clue we could use spray conditioner. i’m gonna try convincing my mom to get me the sprays you suggested because my hair is starting to have this sweat smell and i wanted to find a way to keep that from happening other than constantly washing it, cause i would need a retwist constantly. i’ve been looking up ways on how to keep locs smelling fresh and people have been recommending acv rinse, sprays, an oils. i don’t really know what smell good safe oils i could use (but if you have any could you give me links!!) so i just asked my mom if she can do a acv rinse for any build up i have. i started mines back in nov 2020 so i don’t know if it’s loc’d all the way. overall i just really want a way to make my locs look fresh, clean, and moisturized. 😁
      edit: my mom said she has some stuff for me that she uses to make her locs not have odor so i’ll see if those work also.

      @@lope1258 no problem 😉! Moms know best! I’d actually try one one the prays that were made for locs first, before these ones I mentioned in this video to see how it goes with your locs. I like a spray from Lion Locs, and the leave in spray from Dr. Locs too 😊.
