I remember being a member of the Lep Net fan club. When that was brought up here that brought back nostalgia. My guess is Carol is now 70

Thank goodness Joe embraced the internet and associated tech. There would be no DSH! Thanks for sharing.

Cool interview! Funny parts about computers and the internet XD Going on a tangent here but I remember that time when the internet was something most people couldn't even define. In my school mid 90s or so they had started an "internet club" and I was in awe that I could input words into a search engine and it would return with results about it. Back then I was always looking up any stuff I could find about my favourite bands, and I would even print the coolest pages. There weren't many websites but it was exciting, like a box of surprises.

Def Leppard and later Van Halen tried the "Best Of/Greatest Hits" album during the 90's on the heels of Bon Jovi's "Crossroad" success. But in comparison both bands failed because they couldnt score a hit single out of the new tunes that came with the compilations. On the other hand, Bon Jovi's compilation album was a worldwide success because It had a number one hit (always) and a top 20 hit (someday i'll be saturday night) internationally.

Def leppard released when love and hate collide at this time and it was the biggest hit def leppard ever had in the uk.

Vault sold 6 million albums....didn't need the one extra song, which was actually a Steve Clark leftover....
Van Halen s two new songs got plenty of radio play. Both were on heavy rotation on Atlanta 96 rock. Interesting because 96 rock didn't touch 90s van Halen other than pound cake... 96 rock was stale.
Van Halen had two number 1 albums in the 90s.
Defleppard simply didn't get the label support bon Jovi had

I'm also a huge Bon Jovi fan but your saying that Def Leppard's Vault and Van Halen's best of album kinda failed sounds like a nonsense to me. All of three greatest hits albums were definitely hits at a similar level. As an avid, young rock music fan, I was in the middle of it in the mid 90s. I remember it so well. That it didn't make a bigger hit single doesn't mean it failed as an album.
