Gosh this show is a contender for the most improved in my eyes. I was absolutely not sold on this show on opening night but by finals this was cooking. I truly think the hornline was the best of the night in person. That moment 12:30 was just nails. I also agree that Boston was way more Crown-esque than crown was this year. Really strange.
I was at the Rockford opening show and was convinced after that they would win this year (then Bluecoats premiered a few days later). You mentioned how this is a very Crown-like show; I think that’s why I felt they ultimately came in second. To me, Crown often doesn’t know how to edit (see their 2024 show), and Glitch toes that line a bit too. There are A LOT of minor details in this show, and that’s a good thing. However, there are almost so many cool minor details that we miss the overall concept. To their credit, they kept it from falling into complete chaos with how clean it was, and that was a major feat. I love this show, but I think it would have been better with like 3-5% more restraint for clarity.
So much improvement! Someone on the back hash podcast had a theory that bac was glitching in and out of different corps or styles. I thought that was an interesting take.
Great video! I love you guys, but... the one soloist in the ballad putting their hand on the other's shoulder _does_ make sense. The song is _literally_ about comforting someone else, lol. *** If this world makes you crazy And you've taken all you can bear You call me up Because you know I'll be there *** I absolutely love this show. And I think you're absolutely right: if i'd seen it blind, without knowing who it was, very possible I'd have guessed Crown!!
@OnCycle I'll give you that, lol! Thanks again for all the videos, guys. I'm looking forward to another season with Northern Lights Drum & Bugle Corps (west michigan). Almost no experience in the activity, and 49 years old--and loving it! It was great hearing about your experiences in all-age :)
That's incredible!!! I keep seeing nothing but great things from that organization! You should have a fantastic experience! Can't wait to see you at finals!
I'm conflicted on this show. No question, it sits deservedly in second place. (a compliment) When I saw it at the beginning of the season, I thought the show could evolve into a real cheese fest (e.g. Crown 22, Cadets '14) and they would peak too early like in years past. Neither of those things happened and the show grew on me. So kudos to the staff and performers. By the end of the season it was a really excellent show and very enjoyable. I think the thing that doesn't connect with me is that the last few years Boston's shows have felt like they are ticking boxes trying to be a Champion level show. Unbelievable guard - check. Amazing Percussion - check. Crown-like brass - check. Bluecoats-esque show theme - check. It just doesn't have a wholistic/organic feel to the design of the show. This is something that Blue Devils and Bluecoats excel at and something that is a recipe for a gold medal. That being said, this was the most mature I've seen Boston and could set them up for a championship. I would love to see that, as I think everyone loves a new champion and I have many friends in their organization.
I will say disappointed by the g spot tornado arrangement. Honestly it should have been FASTER. Low point in the show for me that I thought was going to be the best.
If I close my eyes and listen to this brass line I would swear it was the ghost of the Cadets. Just spectacularly good.
Absolutely! Gino was with the Cadets for so many years, it only makes sense that they sound similar!🥰
This show grew on me a ton as well. Went from hating the uniforms and not enjoying the drill to it being my 2nd favorite show of the season.
That seemed to be most people's feelings lol... which is guess is kind of a cool thing!

Glad to see we aren't crazy and there's others that agree with us lol. I completely concur with your most improved statement!
14:06 this whole closer drill is basically ripped from Crown 2014 and 13
I mean... all drill is basically ripped from someone at this point lol

Totally agree with all this! Excellent insight

VERY INTERESTING! I never considered that! I should ask Gino, see if it's true.

I was more commenting on the cheesyness of it lol... its the most uncomfortable looking position 🤣🤣

I get the weird shoulder lift - it's not like a regular Ballet move - another glitch - min glitchi themes throughout.

I couldn't have said it better... i say that to robbie all the time. "It's amazing! But it's just missing that last piece"
Let's see some 90's shows! Velvet Knights or Star of Indiana!
Definitely planning some of those
And I like to compare first place each year (2024 vs 2023 vs 2022, down the line) to understand the evolution of technique.......
This is interesting idea! I like that a lot!
Excellent video concept, how's about doing top 5 react video from each decade (this one 2020s, 2010s, 2000s, 1990s, etc.)..........
How about top 5 from each year! Might take us awhile lol... be we're in it for the long haul!

hmmm... I'm usually all for a little more speed, but i felt like the pacing was pretty good all song... I wonder how I'd feel if it was faster 🤔
