OK, gents, it's time: so,,,,,,,,,,, so far you guys are excellent, may I suggest, and you're no doubt doing it now, have sub-type of videos, namely, as you already have, recaps, predictions, audition help, etc, etc, type of videos. My humble recommendation would be to have couple more "video sub-types", here you go; Legends interviews (like you did with the Tierno's), Design staff interviews, Instructional staff interviews, "Old Guard" interviews (Haaaaaaaa, start with Dino), "Movers & Shakers" interviews (start with Ralph Pace), "Rookies", etc., etc. and whatever you guys can handle,,,,,, now get on the 2025 season........😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Absolutely! We've definitely already started doing some of the that with the new reaction videos! We'll being more division as the season goes on!
If I close my eyes and listen to this brass line I would swear it was the ghost of the Cadets. Just spectacularly good.
Absolutely! Gino was with the Cadets for so many years, it only makes sense that they sound similar!🥰
That’s the Hanover Lancers
Damn! You're right... ill change it!
The structure of the show is basically harmonic journey which is why it was so liked in my opinion. The section that leads into the closer is basically the same thing. I love it
I've never actually viewed it that way 🤔🤔... but now that you say that!
Blue Devils 2017, bluecoats 2016 & 23, SCV 2018 next :)
Ill throw them on the list!
Also, love the Bucs representation.
We're everywhere each year! The DCI ALL-AGE really represents in DCI World
@ I just meant your t-shirt, but I agree about representation in the junior corps side of the activity, too!
I get the PJs in the final 3rd of the show since the idea is that the corps is waking up from their trippy dream. That’s also why the PJs are yellow at the bottom, signifying the sun rising on the horizon, as well as giving some visual definition to the look.
INTERESTING! I'm not sure i ever took a moment to actually think that 🤔... Thank you!
@ That’s how I interpreted it since the PJs the guard wore at the very beginning were more muted and neutral colored, I think both to bring out the “trippy dream” outfits of the corps as the dream started and because they’re going to bed at night. This is all my interpretation. Wait, am I doing dream interpretation in a drum corps show? 😳😜
As a member of the show, the mellos do indeed drop from triple forte to piano at the end of the ballad. No mics involved.
As a lover of this show, let me say thank you personally for a great memory!
Now you gotta watch Boston 2022...
Ill put it on the list!
The last time the Troopers made DCI Finals 3 or more consecutive seasons: 1972-1975. Only reason that streak wasn’t longer was that DCI was formed in 1972, so any previous placements were American Legion/VFW Finals competitions.
That's incredible that it's been that long!
During retreat, when the Troopers DM was in the classic uniform, somebody on DCP commented “This man has seen war”.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 leave it to good ole DCP
Excellent, keep up the great work..........
Thanks buddy! Always love your support!
For the record I hate watching reaction videos where they don’t say a word for the entire show…so super cringy, so thank you for talking over the shows and over each other!!
You're welcome?? 🤣🤣
AHHH MY FAVORITE SHOW THANK YOUU OH DEAREST ON CYCLE😍😍😍
You are very welcome!
as a percussionist i love hearing your guys commentary, but do you think you could incorporate pausing the videos cuz it can be hard to hear commentary or focus on the show at the same time.
Loved the video! I recommend watching Hebron high schools 2021 program entitled “Penstriped” they are a Texas based band and will not disappoint!
My main memory of this show was sitting in a board meeting in April and hearing, "We are going to have a giant head of Dennis Hopper on the field."....One of those times you know just to have faith in the creative team. lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣... that would have also been one of my favorite memories!
Hope you guys have a great membership day can’t wait to hear more about the show
15 actually 😭
15 what? The last year they made finals??? Pretty sure it was 17
@@OnCycle they didn't quite make finals in 17, I think they were a few spots away. I saw them warming up in the lot plenty of times
Please react to SCV 2024! I’d love to hear yalls thoughts on it!
Absolutely!! Thats a great one! And a great show!
I'm conflicted on this show. No question, it sits deservedly in second place. (a compliment) When I saw it at the beginning of the season, I thought the show could evolve into a real cheese fest (e.g. Crown 22, Cadets '14) and they would peak too early like in years past. Neither of those things happened and the show grew on me. So kudos to the staff and performers. By the end of the season it was a really excellent show and very enjoyable. I think the thing that doesn't connect with me is that the last few years Boston's shows have felt like they are ticking boxes trying to be a Champion level show. Unbelievable guard - check. Amazing Percussion - check. Crown-like brass - check. Bluecoats-esque show theme - check. It just doesn't have a wholistic/organic feel to the design of the show. This is something that Blue Devils and Bluecoats excel at and something that is a recipe for a gold medal. That being said, this was the most mature I've seen Boston and could set them up for a championship. I would love to see that, as I think everyone loves a new champion and I have many friends in their organization.
I couldn't have said it better... i say that to robbie all the time. "It's amazing! But it's just missing that last piece"
Great video! I love you guys, but... the one soloist in the ballad putting their hand on the other's shoulder _does_ make sense. The song is _literally_ about comforting someone else, lol. *** If this world makes you crazy And you've taken all you can bear You call me up Because you know I'll be there *** I absolutely love this show. And I think you're absolutely right: if i'd seen it blind, without knowing who it was, very possible I'd have guessed Crown!!
I was more commenting on the cheesyness of it lol... its the most uncomfortable looking position 🤣🤣
@OnCycle I'll give you that, lol! Thanks again for all the videos, guys. I'm looking forward to another season with Northern Lights Drum & Bugle Corps (west michigan). Almost no experience in the activity, and 49 years old--and loving it! It was great hearing about your experiences in all-age :)
That's incredible!!! I keep seeing nothing but great things from that organization! You should have a fantastic experience! Can't wait to see you at finals!
Would you ever consider reacting to a High School Band??
Absolutely! Send us over some suggestions!
@@OnCycle Can you react to hebron high school 2022 please?
Ill look into it!
@@OnCycle You should watch Broken Arrow 2021 to, it's the highest scoring high school show ever
@@OnCycle Hebron 2021 is incredible
This show grew on me a ton as well. Went from hating the uniforms and not enjoying the drill to it being my 2nd favorite show of the season.
That seemed to be most people's feelings lol... which is guess is kind of a cool thing!
Fun tidbit but the dm and trombone soloist are a couple which I think wins dci power couple of the century
You know what! I did know that, but forgot until you just said it! That is a FUN FACT! Thank you for sharing

Total biased opinion: I like your take that it is the best thing since SCV 2018. Much like Babylon, it's so well designed and performed from top to bottom. Was BD 2014 the best performance of all time? Having seen 14, 18, and 24 live, I would say yes. But as far as design goes, from the staging to the movement to the music, Change is near perfection. When I think of "Best of All Time", I think of transformational shows ('84 Cadets, '93 Star, '16 Bloo). IMHO, '24 Bloo is a work of drum corps art but I'm not sure it is transformational. Maybe time will tell, but I think that title goes to Star 93 (also saw many times in person, as I'm that old..lol), as watching the other corps in '93, Star's show felt like it was dropped into drum corps by time travelers; it was so far ahead of its time. All that being said, it seems like every time Bluecoats wins a championship, Donald Trump gets elected, which very much may be my Faustian bargain. ;-)
Chris! I knew you'd offer us a book! I just love you comments!! I didn't see BD live... but i still hate it! LOL... as far as the other stuff, i agree, those shows are what turned the tides of drum corps. However, i DO THINK this is a show that will be remember for moving us into a new age. This kind of design WORKS!! It's old school and new school mixed perfectly and i think every other Corps is going to have to figure it out if they want to be successful. Its the new DCI standard.
“We’re Dropping these in October…” 🤔
Haha... it was supposed to be in October 😬😬😬
You have be to learn not to talk to much and if you have something to say important stop restart and explain you'r walking on the show way to much Walking on it is a radio pun Thanks for posting just learn the art of doing this 👍
If you want to watch the show so bad just watch it on it's own
Thank you for the feed back, I'm never one to turn away a good lesson! :-) ... however, i am familiar with the concept of "walking" on someone or something else... We specifically choose to comment over it without stopping because many people HATE the video being stop (we're different! Rebels if you will!). We try to remind anyone watching that if they don't like it, there's plenty of content to watch without the conversation over it. Thanks for watching! remember to subscribe!
Now Now... we are a kind channel... but also... what he said, just nicer 😊❤️
You guys hit on the brass sound. I saw the kids pre-season in 2015 and there was a definitely "CHANGE" of how they were writing and balancing the horns. It was a darker, smoother tone. I had never heard anything like it and I personally thought they were robbed of silver in 15. You can still hear that same brass sound today. Props to Thrower for his growth and masterpiece writing.
Absolutely, Robbie and I have both admired what the bluecoats have done over the last 15 years! Incredible growth
Let's see some 90's shows! Velvet Knights or Star of Indiana!
Definitely planning some of those
Can you guys react to Blue Stars ‘24?
Absolutely!
I love Adam Brandt
We love Adam too!!
Greatest memory from watching shows at Lucas oil was someone screaming "SUTA!!!" right at the hit of the closer where they Z Pull.
🥰🥰 that whole thing was just incredible
I'm so glad you gentlemen reviewed this show! As an alumnus, they still hold a special place in my heart. Even after all these years their storytelling is, in my humble opinion, one of the best in the business! Add that to the traditions they display year after year, and you understand how they have earned the titles of "America's Corps" and "Wyoming's Musical Ambassadors" I started out in their feeder corps, The Trooper Cadets in 1976 when I was 10 years old as a member of the color guard. My rookie year in the "A" corps (at the ripe old age of 13!) was 1979. Now, if you know your Troopers history, then you know '79 was the year Troopers made their comeback after not making finals since 1975. I can't begin to tell you how it feels to march the "sunburst" drill and have thousands of people surge to their feet yelling, stomping, and in some cases crying. Mike Gough made a short film called "Hellbent For Victory" (that is a line from our corps song). In it he played the "Dave Richards tape". Mr. Richards was inducted into the DCI Hall of Fame in 1996. He sadly passed away last month on Oct.6th. I have a link that I'd like to share that is Dave's judges tape from our prelims performance that year. at 2:22 he says, "There she is!". He's referring to the sunburst drill. I still get goosebumps when I listen.... the emotion in his voice says it all! Thank you again for sharing your thoughts and appreciation of "The Long Blue Line"! If you ever start having doubts about their passion and commitment, the title of a 1971 television special says it all..... "The Troopers Are Coming". (Sorry about my long-winded comment!!!) The link for the "Dave Richards Tape" th-cam.com/video/6ktuvQYWygI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wRXm1dlMuLavuhI-
Tammy! This is an incredible post! I was tearing up a little reading it... The history of Drum Corps is so near and dear to my heart. Seeing comments from people who LIVED the history brings me so much joy. HLD!
@@OnCycle HLD! >11<
@@OnCycle I'm sure you know this already, but just in case.... In 2022 they revived "Ghost Riders in the Sky/Ecstasy of Gold/When Johnny Comes Marching Home". They did a version of the sunburst; the streamers attached to the horn line (representing the oil erupting from the derrick). The first time I saw that, I had tears running down my face and goosebumps from head to toe! If you listen closely, in the 2024 repertoire at 15:03 they incorporate a few measures of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home". Absolutely fantastic! And breaking out the "gold and white" cross saber flags caused some tears and wonderful memories.
YIPPIEE
This is great episode for you!
A few issues with this show. Addressed some design issues through out the season. For me though the guitar tone and balance leaving me questioning even into finals. I don’t think these guys will ever break into top six they are kind of boxed in being the “western” corps.
I kinda felt the same way, especially with the acoustic section... and yeah... It'll be tough to move into 6 or better with this type of show. But it's not like it hasn't happened before. Cadets 96... it'll just take a special show and great design
I will say disappointed by the g spot tornado arrangement. Honestly it should have been FASTER. Low point in the show for me that I thought was going to be the best.
hmmm... I'm usually all for a little more speed, but i felt like the pacing was pretty good all song... I wonder how I'd feel if it was faster 🤔
Hey! Yall should react to Music City 2024, it goes so hard for no reason and haven’t seen much recognition on it unfortunately.
HEY! Thanks for the request! We'll absolutely take a look at this one! I heard great things all season about this show, and i haven't seen it yet.
W request (i was in that show)
So much improvement! Someone on the back hash podcast had a theory that bac was glitching in and out of different corps or styles. I thought that was an interesting take.
VERY INTERESTING! I never considered that! I should ask Gino, see if it's true.
My favorite show this season! I do wish they kept the mellos up after the Z pull and lowered the synth voice. Loving all this content!!
YES!!! If you saw them early season before they made the props spin, the mellos were up on them and CRUSHING NOTES! It was awesome! I to was sad when they took it away :(
This was a nice refreshing old school show. Loved it. Def some execution issues but great product. Props were some of the smartest things on the field that season. I don’t think effects on brass like phaser or wahs are ever a good idea. There were a few Avon shows that tried that and even when you play it right, just sounds meh.
Yeah, I wasn't a fan at all of the electronic adds to the solos.
Best designed show in a good few years for any group. Never a dull moment. Fantastic drill, fantastic movement.
Couldn't agree more!
I mentioned this on a previous video, If you get ambitious, do an evolution react/history video, starting with a favorite corps from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, on up and discuss evolution. And if it gets too long, just do excerpts from each show......
We've been game playing a "history" "evaluation" concept for awhile... i think we want to make sure it's done just right!
YAYY NEW ON CYCLE VID also ill be at membership day and i cant wait to maybe join the buccaneers!!
Heck yeah! Can't wait to see you there!
It should be illegal to drop this much content on one day!!! 🎉
Enjoy it! It might never happen again 🤣🤣🤣
The entire ballad is actually the original Ballad of Equilibrium! So it wasn’t even a return to the motif, it’s still equilibrium which is so cool.
That makes so much sense lol... You know me, im terrible with music and knowing things lol
Equilibrium is so varied of a piece, I've basically only listened to the finale section that we played, and the technical sections featured in this show and Crown's
And I like to compare first place each year (2024 vs 2023 vs 2022, down the line) to understand the evolution of technique.......
This is interesting idea! I like that a lot!
Excellent video concept, how's about doing top 5 react video from each decade (this one 2020s, 2010s, 2000s, 1990s, etc.)..........
How about top 5 from each year! Might take us awhile lol... be we're in it for the long haul!
You realize, guys, you're going to have to do this every year from now on............ and maybe do the same for some favorite past shows..........
Thats the plan! We definitely have a bunch of older shows we want to do as well! We'll do as many as the people want to see lol
