My wife plays her Xbox one X(4ktv) in the same room where I play on my PC(144hz 1080p). She constantly looks at my screen and goes..."that looks amazing I want to buy a PC".

Assuming all else is equal. More ram means the more things you can have running without a noticeable decline in system responsiveness. 64GB is not crazy if you're a heavy user.
Hell even 32 gigs is plenty for a gaming pc. You’ll realistically only *need* 16 gigs but having more RAM than that definitely won’t hurt
That only applies if you're that guy with 1k+ tabs open in firefox, while playing a game. AND you're using obs, fraps and HyperCam2 at the same time.

I hate when people use the word investment for recreational luxury products. My 3080 was a terrible investment sure, but worth every penny for the gaming performance. Got it at MSRP and I love it.

my rig was around $1500 last year. It will last longer than this generation consoles with minimal upgrades. Plus, how many console gamers buy just 1 of them? Many have xbox playstation and nintendo. Or at least 2 of them. They've spent as much as me before their monthly subscriptions.

What about nintendo? Also If I'm not mistaken. Last gen had an upgrade on both. So to stay relevant you had to buy each twice. Why didn't you add up the sub prices. They aren't 15 and 9.99 flat costs. They are actually $60 per year. So add $420 to your price. That's what 7 years of a sub costs.
@@thefloyd8872 You haven't factored in the fact that you have to pay for online so that's 60 dollars per year, the fact that game cost more( such as on playstation) and the fact that when the console inevitably breaks, you have to get a new one.
Also, gamepass is present on PC as well and, you can build a PC that outperforms the new consoles for 500$.
A 1500$ PC is an high end PC, not everybody needs that.

Besides, a 1500$ dollar PC is a pc that will last for a decade or more, but people can build such a PC for much cheaper.
I spent $3400 on my PC because I wanted the absolute best, and surprise surprise I got it it makes my PS five and Xbox series X look like potatoes

But they will last you a decade and longer if you're willing to turn some settings down a notch or two.
People will have bought like 3 Playstations (not even counting the double dippers who buy "upgraded" versions), before you will realalistically HAVE to spend some more money to upgrade, to play current games.
People don't take spending over time into consideration, when they're talking about prices.
It's just comparing hurdle heights, while ignoring how a lower hurdle at the start of the race may be harder for you to take at the end of that race.

8:17 yea, I've got 32gb of ram because not only did I get a good deal on the kit but it's future proofing my rig that I built last year.
Videos games are slowly requiring 16gb ram, give it a couple years 2-3 an you'll start seeing more & more games that require a "minimum" of 16gb.
Not to mention I do some light editing of videos so it doesn't hurt to hav the extra ram to help out with that
I plan on getting a gaming pc, but I also plan to develop games as well. So I'm aiming for 32gb ram just to be on the safe side

@@luukherfst1209 My motherboard can handle 128 so I been slowly buying 32 gigs of the same type at a time, I play games, don't need that much for the games but I am also have 2 businesses, one is a computer repair shop, so good advertising, lol the other is a digital advertising company, so I am a graphics designer, and it is good to have more ram when you are a graphics designer :D

Right. A lot of console players jump to a price-performance argument, and it isn't even about that for the people that willingly spend more money on single components than entire consoles. Some people are just after the best possible performance. They don't care the slightest bit about price.

12:43 I love when they keep saying how consoles have good optimization because of stable 30fps below 1080p. I still use GTX 1060 and still it's better than PS4. Btw. I think this "PC ports bad" came from people who doesn't understand graphic settings. Sometimes game have so much of them and a lot of people just don't know that setting "option a" from Ultra to low changes almost nothing (clouds in new Assassin's Creed) and give you 30% FPS boost. Heck for me medium and ultra settings are (usually) almost the same. This is why I only care about framerate.
1050ti is better than the ps4, 1060 just smashes ps4 to bits.

@@spiffdaddy not necessarily med settings. for example, control uses low settings on the ps5 and series x. infact Control's LODs are LOWER THAN LOW setting on pc on the next gen consoles, digital foundry made a video where they showed it.

I upgraded my OG 2017 video card to a 5700 XT just before the chip shortage. I forgot about my old card and took it out of my closet when the price for electronics started to skyrocket. After selling my OG card, I actually made money off of getting a new card. I know that's far from the norm but it can happen. Plus, the 5700 XT is equivalent to the GPU of the PS5.

Funny enough I just bought a 1060 and for a decent price too. (I needed a new one mostly because I wanted to build a pc from scratch and the one I use now has a R9 380 which isn't bad but I wanted something a bit better.)

The point of gaming, the reason why we spend money on the hobby is to have fun and enjoy it. It's not the hardware you own or the expendable income available, as long as you're enjoying the hobby you're passionate about it's what matters, whether it be gaming on console, arcades, pc or a raspberry pi. People who judge others they know nothing about and generalize groups of people by the hardware they own have missed the point completely.

the ps4 pro can't even do real time raytracing. The ps5 is closer to an rtx3090 but it is still not close. the 3090 is a super high end GPU that can push super high framerates at super high resolutions. Yes, the rtx3090 costs an arm and a leg but it is an insane value proposition since it is at the highest end of the pc market. The ps4 pro at best is equivalent to either a 1060 6gb or a 1070. the 1060 could now be considered mid-low end. the 30 series at the low end is about at powerful as the gtx 1080 or gtx 1070. Pc's are a better value proposition per dollar per year than a console is. Pc's last way longer than a console so these console fanboys are crazy.

Been gaming since the late 80's, haven't owned a console since the late 90's. There's only two genuine advantages with consoles. The first being the cheating problem when talking about AAA shooters and some other games like GTA online. It's out of control on the PC. I don't play those types of games as I am more into strategy/rpg/sims like Arma and DSC so that doesn't effect me.
The second advantage with consoles is that you are competing on a much more level playing ground as everyone is using the same hardware. There used to be a third advantage which was start up cost but that's been mitigated by having to purchase a good enough TV to be able to enjoy the console at it's full potential
7:17 Yes you don’t need anything near 64 GB of Ram for gaming. I got 64 Gb because I wanted to future proof my rig and have enough space for tons of multitasking. I bought 64 Gb or DDR4 ram a couple years ago and don’t plan to switch to a DDR5 platform for at least 5 more years.
