    In 2018 i think it's time to leave slideshows only behind. Seriously.

    Sorry, but i think this was appallingly edited.....starting each bike with endless close ups meant we had to wait to actually see the bike.....start with a good steady GV (general view) then go to mid shots and close ups. Also just because a shot moves doesnt make it good, there needs to be a reason for the move....a pan from 'nothing' to 'bugger all' should not be used, if in doubt keep it fixed.....sorry, I am trying to help.

    This is a Great Britain targeted video based on local manufacturers. All major manufacturers as Giant, Specialized, Trek are left outside, thus it is not objective.

    CAADs are sweet to ride. I have a 2015 CAAD10 and I love it. It's built with Dura Ace 9000, Hollowgram SI crankset , C1 cockpit, and Mavic Ksyrium Elite S (Mavic Cosmic Ultimates for race day). Incredible bike. Then I test rode a CAAD12 105 for the day. Amazing! It performs like the 10 but the smaller diameter seatpost makes this bike even more comfortable than mine. Cannondale really did their homework.

      Have CAADs changes much since the 90s? I have a 2.8 and to look at, they haven't changed, weight hasn't either but suspect the new ones are a more comfortable ride?

      Muhammad Ali- No. It doesn't, but my 2016 Super Six Evo HiMod did after I had the bottom bracket serviced the first time. That bike has the SiSL2 crankset. It doesn't anymore. I just serviced the CAAD10'Ss bottom bracket for the first time three months ago (Jan 2018). I bought her February 2015.

      greenfoam....They are still true to the CAAD's heritage in geometry but they are totally different animals. My seatstays are the only tubes on the bike that match. Hydroforming is a game changer. They take technology used to make carbon frames and apply it to aluminum now. For what it's worth, those old 2.8s still make great crit machines even by today's standard though. It's still good enough to update the components on and appreciate it's potential. There is so much untapped potential in those frames. The components back then weren't as advanced as that frame. That's why updated stuff makes the 2.8 feel like a new machine.

    The Cannondale CAAD 12 is outstanding. Mine has Ultegra and rim brakes, and it handles and accelerates like a dream. For the same price as a Carbon Bike with lesser components, it's a bargain. It's as light as comparable carbon bikes, and even though people think aluminum bikes are hard riding, the CAAD 12 has been great for me on all day rides. No complaints about the comfort.

  • @BikeLife154

  • @rochester212

    These people say "stiff" as if it`s a good thing. I`ve ridden stiff aluminium frames and they`re really not that fun, every bump is a pain in the....good news is that not all aluminium frames are that stiff. It depends on what you get. If you care about comfort and durability, steel is the only way to go(says me on my 1983 Basso ;)

    • @U--Bravo
      @U--Bravo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The frame stiffness is irrelevant. Bike frames in general are not designed to flex, and generally flex very poorly. In terms of road bikes, wider tires and a carbon seat post will make any bike more comfortable. As the only part designed to flex are seat posts, specifically carbon fiber seatposts

    • @U--Bravo

      And carbon handlebars

    I own an Allez sprint. It’s great it’s stiffer and slightly more responsive than the caad12 I’m over 200lbs. I also have to say that this discussion isn’t complete without the Trek Emonda Alr. I ended up liking the Emonda Alr more than the Caad12 also. I had my heart set on the Caad12 ended up with Allez sprint DSW after riding all 3.

    Fuji. Outstanding aluminum bikes. Outstanding carbon fiber bikes as well, but the aluminum are very very nice. Rented one and rode it for 2 weeks in Spain in the mountains. I'm a dyed in the wool carbon guy but I was blown away. Very live feel, great shock and vibration absorption. Very very reasonably priced vs the Cannondales etc of the world. 1/2 the price vs carbon for what is probably a better bike.
    If you can get past the stigma that aluminum is a poor man's material (it's not) then you can save a bunch of cash and have a very nice, very light, very responsive bike. Even when I build up a carbon frameset, I use aluminum stem, seatpost, handlebars etc because it is a much better material for those uses than carbon. Lighter, stiffer, etc.

    Love my Caad10 Rim brake w/Ultegra, would have also loved a Caad12 but got a deal I couldn't pass up and wasn't a fan of any of the Caad12 color schemes their fist year. I really prefer the lines of the Caad12 more though, I'm pretty sure it's the tapered head tube, as something about my Caad10 in a 54 just doesn't look right in the front.

    Superlight aluminium frames on these bikes?? Dude, you must be kidding! I've checked out the weight of some of these and came across weights between 1,3-1,5kg, I guess this is without the fork and there's no way i'd consider that superlight. I remember Principia building aluminium frames below 1kg weight and that was already like 10 years ago. 1,3kg frame weight is what a 1200€ Rose bike reaches easily!

    Nice video. I think that the problem is not that alu bikes have been forgotten. The problem is the amount of ignorance about materials. merchandising is leading most of bike's users through the false images of pro riders (i say false because a non pro should not base his next bike on what pro do or use). Not many people know about different types of alloys and the real importance of all of that when they are considering buying a new bike. It is a shame that it is far to be vulgarised for everyone to understand and enjoy. By the way, do you guys have any comments about columbus alu frames? altec, altec 2 and its top level called airplane ???
    PS: Pantani's bikes were used to be constructed mainly on 7075 alu tripple butted, made by hand by bianchi ;)

    I love my Marin Argenta Elite 105, rides smoothly, is not as light as a carbon, but prefer 100 times more. I tried my husband's Orca M30 it's extremely light but I feel the bumps a lot more.

    Omg, this cliche-riddled-script-reading robotic presenter is painful to watch / listen to. Fortunately the content is half-decent.

    The review of each of the 6 sounds like a direct reading of a press release. Devoid of even the mildest criticism or specification how is one to choose between them ?

    A rough estimate price wise would have been nice here. Like the video otherwise. First bike is fuckin beautiful.

    They love their granny walkers in this town. 0:04 (top right) and 0:08 (not discounting pink crocs too).

    How would a BMC ALR be rated in comparison to a Caad 12/13 ?

    Hello @road.cc i am not sure why... but why dont you put the Planet-X Galibier in discussion? That is a very light frameset for less money. Cheeeeers

    • @roadcc
      @roadcc  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only reason it isn't in the discussion is because we haven't had that in for review

    • @fellusch

    Anything from Principia would be cool to see how they held up against the others.
