Dude I don’t know if you practiced your review because it’s great. If Dewalt isn’t paying you they should. I’m going to look for one right now, thank you.
You do the best reviews-- very informative and demonstrable and always skipping the nonsense and never playing dj with some intolerable music. Kudos to you!
It's an old review but helpful to me in 2023 as I get back to my long-neglected DW716 Type 3. Need to find the light attachment, clamp & other extenders. Thanks
Exactly what I was looking for in a 715 vs 716 comparison. Straight to the point. Hit all the major differences. Very good presentation. Looking forward to other reviews. How about the 779 vs 716?
Main difference is the 779 is a larger saw and a slider but doesn't have the built in LED shadow light system. The 779 is basically a 780 with a few missing features
I don’t know much about miter saws, but I picked this model up in Lowe’s marked down from $430 to $300. Watching your video confirms I made a good choice. Thanks Javier!
Cool! I was thinking about picking one of these up for a father's day present for my dad.....now all I need to do is think of a way to pay for it! ;) Nice review, I definitely see the advantages of going with the DW716 over the DW715 now....thanks Javier!
@Elijah Colin Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and Im trying it out atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
One thing worth noting, is that last time I was in home depot and lowes, looking at these saws, thinking about adding a 715 to the tool arsenal, to my surprise, dewalt is silently killing compatibility with the xps led system. This is true in the 713, 715, and 716. I bought my 713 used for this reason. I really, really love the led, because it cast a perfect shadow of the blade kerf onto the work piece for a damn near perfect cut every time. That being said, these are still the most outstanding saws I have ever used, and I absolutely love them.
I've heard that about the compatibility. I did some research and couldn't find out which type doesn't have compatibility. Said compatible with models 1-4 but weird that it doesn't say compatible with all models. I looked at the pdf manual for type 4 and says it's compatible with both lights. Also when I was at Lowe's I looked at the box in store for the dw716 and said it right there on the box it was compatible with both lights. I even took a picture, but I couldn't find any info on the box about what type 1-4 it was. On the parts website I could see 5 models: type 1, type 2, type 20, type 3, type 4. I wonder if type 20 is the oddball
Thanks for the review! I couldn't find an example of what "cutting a 2x10 with the back fence" actually meant, until I found your video. Now, it's clear. Much appreciated!
Awesome! Thank you! You may want to create affiliate marketing links with amazon and other sites. That way if I click on the link and buy it amazon would give you a small piece of the pie. You deserve it!
Donald Valinski thanks, I enjoy using the easy lock handle and would be hard to go back to the twist knob. I'm not sure about that, you might have to buy a new unit to get that feature
could you do a video concentrating on the back fence procedure. I need a good explanation of the way to add the underboard and what I need to do. Thanks.
+David Lowrance I'll keep it under consideration, it's quite simple actually and can easily be explained. Remove both fences- that's it really. With the fences now gone you can use the built in back fence, although you will need a wide 2x lumber underneath to support the one being cut
Javier, you rock dude. You are a very good teacher, you explain things well, and you helped me to understand terms I wasn't really aware of. Dual vs Single Bevel. Now I know. You put me in the know my man. Great video. I subscribed. Thank you.
Thanks. I know what a dado is and what a stop block is, though I've never heard of a stop block for dado's on a miter saw. I'm not even sure if you can install a dado stack on this or any miter saw. Those are for table saws if they have the threads long enough to support them. Maybe you can enlighten me on this???
Wasn't aware of the dw709 at the time so It didn't come down to either or situation like you're describing. I went with this model back then because I needed something as compact as possible but yet could cut large width laminate flooring planks which is what I was doing at the time. Sliding saws were too big for my needs at the time. But since then my needs have changed and now I have the dhs790 dewalt model
I have the 713 and the 780 both with the xps led system. I got the 780 with a free miter saw stand, and that stand is awesome! Definitely a must have Javier! Although, it's not going to fit in a four door car, lol. Great job! It's good to see a review on a Dewalt miter saw other than the 780.
Thanks Matthew, for the longest time I've been wanting to try the led light. Also want a stand but I've been getting by with my saw horse portable table system lol.
Hey Javier! I am looking for a 12" compound miter saw and one thing I noticed about the DW715 is that only the Type 3 is being sold (at least everywhere I looked). The DW715 Type 3 is not compatible with the optional laser accessory. It's a shame because the DW715 is $199 now on Amazon with free shipping, while I can find the DW716 for $330.
That's too bad about the compatibility issue. I've heard about it I just didn't know what models and types. $199 is a good deal for the dw715 and atleast you can buy those laser attachments that go next to the blade although probably not as good as the dewalt laser accessory
Hey tool crazy. What is better, a laser guide or a shadow guide? I used to have a saw with laser but never used it. I would just drop the blade down to the wood right on my line and then I would start cutting. Does the dw715 come with a shadow guide accessories? Thanks.
jgdoollc They're both good at doing the same job, the LED light is nice because it requires no adjustment to line it up and automatically determines blade thickness I don't think the DW715 comes with it included
Javier, I'm ready to upgrade my tools soon and would really appreciate your opinion (or even a tool comparison review) for the following tools. I'm torn because I've grown to really appreciate the smaller/lighter tools I use for most jobs but Eric and Dan at TiA really like the Dewalt 20v brushless compacts. Impact driver: Dewalt 20v brushless compact DCF895 vs Milwaukee M12 2453 Hammer drill/driver: Dewalt 20v brushless compact DCD795 vs Milwaukee M12 2404 Thank you, Javier!!!
Out of all those I've only tried the m12 fuel impact. So it's hard for me to comment on the others without having tried them. I really like the m12 fuel but personally I like having both 12v and 18v tools and choose between the 2. If you can afford them I would get both impacts. I cant suggests both drills though to own at the same time, too similar from a spec standpoint, but then again like i said I haven't tried them. I like having a 12v and a heavy duty 18v combination.
What size bolts do you need to mount that to the table? My DWS715 didn't come with those bolts and I can't find that information anywhere. I can pick bolts up with washers and lock washer up at a hardware store easy, i just wanna know what size i need before going there. Just going to mount it to a 1/2 inch piece of plywood table i made up.
I bought the 713 10 inch single for doing my home projects but I ended up with the Type 2 so I took it back coz it would not accept the light or laser. I went to 6 stores looking for a 716 that takes the light/laser. Can you tell me the difference between the types (1, 2, 3, 4 & 20)? The only thing I found out so far is that the Type 20 will not take the light/laser.
Tony D not sure what all the differences are between types. Could be minor manufacturer differences but you can always contact DeWalt for more info. I've heard about the incompatibility with types before although I didn't know which type was affected. At the time I did this video, Lowes was carrying some on stock that were compatible with the laser, I even took a picture- says compatible with laser on the box
Great review Javier!!! Man I want one so bad :} I have a craftsman 10inch miter saw which has done me well but it's time for a upgrade!! This one looks really nice just wish I had enough change to go and purchase:/thanks for the great review Javier!
que buen review, muy completo... yo creo q por lo menos el c-clamp deberia incluirse con la sierra, aunque incrementara su valor un poco.. saludos javier.
Ive been trolling your vids for awhile. I want to finally say thanks and keep up the good work. your vids are great and really informational. I would rate myself as more the just a DIY, because I do a lot of unnecessary projects LoL. For someone who just bought a house and building up my tool arsenal (mostly mechanic tools), you really help me seal the deal with many tools Im looking to purchase soon.
Braden K thanks Braden for the kind words. Owning a house is great just wish I had more projects around here for excuses to use tools :). Already did some big projects just a few years ago. Glad you enjoy the vids, got some more on the way
That's great! Look forward to the new vids. To clarify I have mechanic tools but looking to build my power tool arsenal. Your great and informational on my decisions on what to get.
Thank you for the compliment, really appreciate it! However I like to stay unbiased and independent and if a tool company were to hire me then I would no longer be able to do unbiased tool reviews but instead biased commercials and I don't plan on doing any of those.
ToolCrazy To be honest I smiled a little. :) OMT stands for oscillating multi tool. Like the Fein MultiMaster, DeWALT DWE315 or Bosch GOP 250 for example. These are really handy tools because of their multifunctionality. You can cut pvc pipes, wood, thin steel, use them as a small sander, use them for grinding and much more. I think that is why these things are called OMT. Really cool lightweight tools and highly efficient.
ToolCrazy Cool, thanks. I kinda remember that Dan and Eric from "Tools in Action" call them OMT's. I think it was Dan. Or maybe it was Rob Robillard from the channel "A Concord Carpenter". Yeah, the M12 from Milwaukee is also a good candidate for a test. A cordless or corded multi tool for the review? What do you think, Javier?
Javier, awesome video man! I have the first model of this saw before the clamp for locking the table. I was wondering if you could tell me if you know how to square up the fence? My left and right side fences seem to be out of alignment. CJ
Case 275 thanks CJ. Hey sorry for the late reply, I had to go take a look first before I said anything. On my miter saw there aren't any adjustments for either back fences other than being able to slide them left and right or remove completely. If these are out of square then it would mean either the base that holds the fences or the fences themselves are bent but you did say yours was the older model so I don't know if that one has the ability to adjust. Sorry I couldn't be much help.
I'm not sure if they still sell the add ons but I'd try amazon as a start. But really, I'd recommend the LED light system instead, it's way better than lasers and this model already comes with it, at least mine did.
I just picked up the Dw715....I hope I don't regret it. They had it on sale for $199.00 I couldn't pass it up. I hate my eye on the Ryobi 12 inch Slider. The 48 foot clearance turned me off.
This was an informative video. Very informative. "LIKE". Would have liked to see a little more detail about the accessories that 'should' have been included, and seen them in action. The crown stop for example. You mentioned it could also be used as a repetitive length cut stop? How would you mount it in that case? Dewalt's website is awful. I can't find the accessories anywhere on their website other than in the user's manual. They don't even list them wiht the saw (I was just there right before I watched this) Anyway - good job. You've about made my mind up for me with this video. Thank you again.
Thanks. The problem with this saw, at least the one I bought was that if you look at other brands, they include at least a material clamp as standard. And many more include extensions as standard as well. I've since sold this saw and the 20v miter saw and bought the dhs790
Dude I don’t know if you practiced your review because it’s great. If Dewalt isn’t paying you they should. I’m going to look for one right now, thank you.
One of the best reviews I've seen for any product.
great review! the reviewer didn't waste anytime, talked quickly, and covered many great points in a short time!
Bad ass dude, thanks. I just got this saw for 200.
You made me feel better about it. I seen other videos you've done. I'm stoked
You do the best reviews-- very informative and demonstrable and always skipping the nonsense and never playing dj with some intolerable music. Kudos to you!
Excellent presentation with great product knowledge !
Keep up the good work Javier.
Herb Sison thanks Herb

Awesome, glad my old video helped you out
Nice review. I agree hold down should be included just for safety reasons.
Just picked up a DWS716 dual bevel for $180 new in the box. Thanks for the review
great deal!
Brilliant video! You're clearly great at this. Thanks for making my choice for me, and for your hard work.
Bruce Costa thanks Bruce, glad it helped

@Elijah Colin it worked and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my account :D
@Soren Carmelo Glad I could help :D
Bro, nice presentation! That's probably the best tool presentation I've seen,,,good job and thanks!
Ron Garney thanks Ron, glad you liked it!
Very simple teaching, straight to the point ,thank you Javier.I subscribed
Good job Javier! The crazy tool guy!
Thanks guys
Outstanding review; direct and to the point with no fluff.
thanks!

I think it's type 20, yeah. Yours is awesome and will work with the system. Definitely worth the couple bucks bro. I'd go for it, lol.
Thanks for the review! I couldn't find an example of what "cutting a 2x10 with the back fence" actually meant, until I found your video. Now, it's clear. Much appreciated!
Glad it helped out!
Javier, thank you for the review! I always look forward to your work on Fridays. Just awesome!!!
Thanks Eric, glad you liked the review
Very imformative, could you put up a video on how to change the blade on a dw 176.
Ty so much for this video. Great presentation. Gives diy’ers like myself more confidence when getting back into projects. Peace!
Awesome review man! Very informative and well presented.
jgdoollc thanks!
Great video! Could you please post links to the accessories you discussed in the video?
+Emily Sadeghi thanks and good idea. I added links to accessories in the description page towards the bottom.
Awesome! Thank you! You may want to create affiliate marketing links with amazon and other sites. That way if I click on the link and buy it amazon would give you a small piece of the pie. You deserve it!
+Emily Sadeghi you're welcome and thanks for the tip. They are affiliate links
This is a great ACTUAL, knowledgeable review.
Love the video I have a older version with a twisting handle as apposed to the cam lock.i wonder if I could get a later mount for it?
Donald Valinski thanks, I enjoy using the easy lock handle and would be hard to go back to the twist knob. I'm not sure about that, you might have to buy a new unit to get that feature
could you do a video concentrating on the back fence procedure. I need a good explanation of the way to add the underboard and what I need to do. Thanks.

Great review. To the point and covers all the important features.
The Cam lock and detent over ride are some of the best aspects of these miter saws.
Definitely! Once you've tried cam lock its hard to go back to a twist knob
Great video. Answered all my questions.
Very detail review. Now I know almost everything about the saw;) Well done buddy!
Thanks Jimmijo! My goal is to make you guys experts of a tool just by watching my reviews
Awesome!
I'm so lazy I wasn't in the mood to read the manual of my new DW716. Your video was an excellent short cut, thank you.
you're welcome Ruben. Glad it helped
Nice overview. Very thorough
I have that saw and LOVE IT!!
Awesome!
Very good review & a little fun. You are also very well spoken. Thank you sir.
Javier, you rock dude. You are a very good teacher, you explain things well, and you helped me to understand terms I wasn't really aware of. Dual vs Single Bevel. Now I know. You put me in the know my man. Great video. I subscribed. Thank you.
Great review. Direct and to the point.
Awesome review Javier as usual!!! Really well done and the info was just what I was looking for. Keep it up man! We love em!
Thanks Jeremy, glad you enjoyed it!
As always, excellent review. Good job, brother.
Awesome review Javier! Looks like a great saw too!
Thanks cool Chris
Nice comprehensive review.
+Blac Cayman thanks
Worlds nicest guy
Hello very excellent, precise, and elaborated presentation. I have one question. Does it have stop block for dados ? I appreciate your input
Thanks. I know what a dado is and what a stop block is, though I've never heard of a stop block for dado's on a miter saw. I'm not even sure if you can install a dado stack on this or any miter saw. Those are for table saws if they have the threads long enough to support them. Maybe you can enlighten me on this???
Grate job. I like the energy and your presentation. The information was grate. Thanks.
Kris Latchman Thanks for the kind words, glad you liked it
Awesome review Javier!
Thanks Regopit!
Eric- go with the DeWalt 20v. Way better feel to those drills.
Thank you for the very informative vid, really that was the best review with good explanations and demos.
What made you go with this over the dw709? Looking at both so was not sure which one to go with.
Cool review Javier!
Thanks Richard
I have the 713 and the 780 both with the xps led system. I got the 780 with a free miter saw stand, and that stand is awesome! Definitely a must have Javier! Although, it's not going to fit in a four door car, lol. Great job! It's good to see a review on a Dewalt miter saw other than the 780.
Thanks Matthew, for the longest time I've been wanting to try the led light. Also want a stand but I've been getting by with my saw horse portable table system lol.
awesome as always! im happy with my little dw713
Thanks Tee
Keep in mine since its 2016 the dws 715 has 3 types and if you buy a type 3 version the led add on will not fit .
Aluminium cut?
Damn this was a great video!!!! Great job and straight to the point no BS!
thanks
Can you tell me if this saw has a standard 2 1/2 inch vacuum port?
dude great review thanks for making this video
Thanks
Wow!!! Awesome video. Very informative. You laid out all of the features very well. I definitely think the dual bevel was the way to go.
Thanks Matthew, the dual bevel feature saves a lot of hassle and time, let me tell you
Excellent presentation...thanks.
This was a great review. Thx.
Great review, you helped me make up my mind.
How maney price one piece
Hey tool crazy. What is better, a laser guide or a shadow guide? I used to have a saw with laser but never used it. I would just drop the blade down to the wood right on my line and then I would start cutting. Does the dw715 come with a shadow guide accessories? Thanks.
jgdoollc They're both good at doing the same job, the LED light is nice because it requires no adjustment to line it up and automatically determines blade thickness
I don't think the DW715 comes with it included
Good job on the video. Helped me quite a bit!
MNP67 thanks! Glad it helped out
Blake Bortels would love that saw
Excellent review; thank you!
This saw is on my radar but so is the slider..will be a Dewalt.
go team yellow!
Impact driver: Dewalt 20v brushless compact DCF895 vs Milwaukee M12 2453
Hammer drill/driver: Dewalt 20v brushless compact DCD795 vs Milwaukee M12 2404
Thank you, Javier!!!
Out of all those I've only tried the m12 fuel impact. So it's hard for me to comment on the others without having tried them. I really like the m12 fuel but personally I like having both 12v and 18v tools and choose between the 2. If you can afford them I would get both impacts.
I go by eye, the only thing I'll measure is the length needed for the bolt so it's not too long or too short then get the appropriate sized hardware
Thank you, this is what I was looking for.
The one i bought from lowes a few days ago, include a clamp
👍
I bought the 713 10 inch single for doing my home projects but I ended up with the Type 2 so I took it back coz it would not accept the light or laser. I went to 6 stores looking for a 716 that takes the light/laser. Can you tell me the difference between the types (1, 2, 3, 4 & 20)? que buen review, muy completo... yo creo q por lo menos el c-clamp deberia incluirse con la sierra, aunque incrementara su valor un poco.. saludos javier.
Exacto! Como he batallado sin clamp y tambien las extensiones pero estoy buscando un stand
Great review as usual!
Thanks

Nice review 👌
Good video, Javier. Maybe next time you can do a review of an OMT. That'll be cool.
Thanks Markus, don't laugh at me but what's an OMT? I tried googling it but couldn't find anything tool related
Yeah I know about multi tools, I got the m12. I never heard anyone call them omt's. Yeah I can check out a multi tool soon
I prefer cordless tools but I would check out corded multi tools models too
Great review! Thank you
Great job!! I'd get a sliding saw. Or I'd get Boschs axle glide saw. Dewalt makes good stuff.
Thanks bro. Sliding saws are great for cutting larger materials
No problem. A sliding saw is the only saw I would get.
great review amigo!! congrats, dewalt have excellent mitter saws! may be the dust collector can be better.
Gracias Walter, no se si hay uno que recoja todo el polvo. Lo bueno es que tiene para conectar una aspiradora
si, yo lo que hago es que le pongo una caja de cartón con el colector de polvo y así me evito quedar como panadero :D saludos!
Where can I buy the laser?
I'm not sure if they still sell the add ons but I'd try amazon as a start. But really, I'd recommend the LED light system instead, it's way better than lasers and this model already comes with it, at least mine did.
Thanks Jeremy!
Hi, i have been searching the internet and found that a 12” miter saw could not do a 45 degree miter cut on a 4x4. Is that true?
I'll test it out and then let you a soon as i can
No homo . Il like your voice man sound chill asf
Gracias carnal
Nice job!
Man one of these manufacturers like DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee,.....they need to hire you as a full-time spokesman.
Great job
Awesome thanks brother!
Thanks
Well Done.....Very helpful.
thanks John
I just picked up the Dw715....I hope I don't regret it. They had it on sale for $199.00 I couldn't pass it up. I hate my eye on the Ryobi 12 inch Slider. The 48 foot clearance turned me off.
unless you don't need the additional features of the DW716 you'll be fine with the 715
can a 12 in miter saw cut a 4*4
This model can
@@ToolCraze can it cut one at a 45° angle
Just what until you have to do the armature bearings only a year old and already replacing them.
Will this cut a 4x4?
affirmative

Hi, i have been searching the internet and found that a 12” miter saw could not do a 45 degree miter cut on a 4x4. Is that true?
Great video!!!!
Thanks
