I also used the Brando serpentine belt on my 06 Pilot when I replaced the TB. For that, I used a Aisin TB kit and since I was that far in, I replaced crank and cam with OEM seals.

No offense but "Made in the USA" used to mean alot more than it does today too. Unhappy workers and companies penny pinching has led to poorer quality as well.

Used Gates belts in the past and had no problem and always rated them as excellent but not now. Purchased a Gates cam belt kit ( belt plus two rollers) that we're coming up for a change. When I eventually opened the kit to do the job the quality of the belt was poor. On inspection the belt chording was protruding outside the belt itself with freying taking place with loose fibres projecting. The old belt it was replacing was also a Gates belt but was not showing any chording at the edges in fact it looked better than the new one even though it had done 60.000 miles. I was also changing the alternator and power steering belts. The new ones were both manufactured by Gates. After fitting both belts I couldn't stop the alternator belt whaling/squealing like a banshee. On closer inspection the new Gates belt (which is supposed to use the micro v belt technology) was incorrectly profiled being more square shaped and not "V" shaped as it should be. Therefore the belt didn't sit/ride properly into the v groves on the pulleys hence the squealing. Had to temporarily fit the old belts back and again it was silent.
So for me Gates are not what they used to be and will be looking elsewhere.
I suspect Gates use multiple manufacturing sites around the world but their reputation will soon hit the floor unless their quality improves.

Wouldn't have believed it but...just had a Gates timing belt fail in my daughter's car. I installed it, with a Gates timing belt kit, when we bought the car used as it had no service history. 40,000 miles later, the belt failed causing catastrophic engine damage. All components were set to factory specs and double checked before buttoning everything up. The teeth in a small section just peeled off. Half the belt is like that. The other half is fine. Great manufacturing quality.

Quit blaming the brand. I will use Gates over any other brand. Bando being one of the worst brands in the market along with Dayco.
