    Awesome video as always Julio. I'm sure that the center fuel tank where you did the inspection had been well ventilated and measured as always required, for it to be within the allowable limits for you and Michael to go inside. This video reminded me of when the fuel tanks had bladders and I had to go inside to lathe them into position with respiratory equipment. That was not a job for those who were claustrophobic!!! 😆😆😆

      @@slipperybeastaviationfishingsh Yes I understand that but cost of living has gone up substantially and I have numerous friends who work for several major USA airlines and take for example a new contract was just proposed recently for one of the major 3 and the company wants to boost mechanics pay by a measly 2.6 percent than 6.4 percent at the end of the year and is asking for a extended extension of 4 more years not including the past 2 years extension but gives the pilots a 35 percent raise for their 5 year contract in other words mechanics get the same contract for 6 plus years with no renegotiation I am throwing the towel next year and would not recommend anyone who wants to be a technician in this field, Alrlines are stuck with these new junior techs with zero experience and will pay the price sooner rather than later as you can see from the news ,I am not saying all new techs are incompetent but many are and don’t belong in this field as most of us old guys with 35 years plus are leaving but good luck to the rest of you guys and hopefully it works out for you guys

      @@AirmanBrownthey can over time though there may still
      Be pockets of residual fuel. Meters called multi rays are used to measure LEL, VOC and oxygen levels. Before entering the tanks they are defuled and later “dripped” from the sump drain( same area where fuel samples and taken from) Tanks are purged with supply and exhaust air, there’s also a process of vacuum ing fuel with a special vacuums. workers enter with fuel face breathing apparatus and literally vacuum the fuel. It can be dangerous, especially being a confined space.

    These Engines run on compressed air ( Nitrogen & Oxygen ) there is absolutely no fuel except in the wings only for igniting the fuel ( oxygen & nitrogen ) that's the reason there is no smoke thus no exhaust.

    I usually go in when the tanks are full so as to get the proper pressure manifold temp/pressure readings. The sending units are calibrated within micro nanometer tolerances so the oscillating reverse valve index sheaths have to be reground for proper interval siphoning to the pump lines. The reverse tanks flow opposite so I have to swim through to the other end to check those as well. The tanks aren’t totally full when I’m swimming in there so it’s essentially a snorkel with a mask.

    The tank has been drained then force air vented and tested for fumes probably over a couple of days. Try doing the same thing in a "wet" tank (Empty but not vented so still residual fuel and full of fumes) so you have to wear a full coverage impervious suit and breathing apparatus along with safety lines and harnesses. makes it a hundred times harder but still vastly quicker which is what the airline is interested in, down time costs huge amounts of money. You need to be young slim and fit to do it. Certainly the last two.

    • @davedixon2068
      @davedixon2068 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@hyacinthbucket3803 The tank shown had been forced air ventilated until there was no fuel or fuel vapour detectable, otherwise the guys would have needed full coverage suits and breathing apparatus.
      When fuel tanks are open there is a risk of fire but there are a whole raft of regulations governing when, where, and how, tanks can be left open. Jet fuel is also considerably harder to catch fire than car or piston aircraft fuel as its ignition temperature is higher.

      Almost nothing, a plane uses kerosine only for start and landing. On cruising speed it's a self running system without constant fuel burn because the engines are air-pressure turbines. Imagine a bird has liquid in his wings how unstable this would be for the entire structure and physics of flying. It's a fuel scam.

      @@Bahasa_Put your tin foil hat back on and step out of your mum’s basement. You guys are the laughing stock of the aviation world. For those people who have a life and would like to know a few facts about the 767 fuel system, there are 3 main tanks. Left wing, centre wing, Right wing. From memory (it’s been 20ish years since I did tank entry) the wings hold 18,100 kgs of fuel give or take depending on the fuel density of the day. That huge centre wing tank could hold 40,000kgs of fuel. You may notice the ‘holes’ between bays that the guys passed through had a heap of screw holes. Those holes are for the bolts that hold the panels in place as they are required for the structural integrity of the wing structure. I’m unaware of the particular NDT inspection that they are doing there, but if I would guess that a 767 somewhere in the world developed a fuel leak from that area on the lower skin and as a result, every 767 requires mandatory inspections in this particular area via an FAA airworthiness directive as a result of a Boeing service bulletin.
      I don’t miss the smell or the bruises of being a tank rat anymore. It was a young persons game.

    Fascinating, but at the exact same time I could not stop myself from thinking that those huge fuel tanks are what delivered the devastating infernos that would melt the steel of the WTC towers on 9/11 that caused both towers to pancake collapse. Just the enormous size of the jet as you guys were walking up to the 767 made me think of how this enormous jet penetrated the WTC towers at nearly 600 MPH. Anyway, back to the positive and us all continuing to move ahead in life. Nice job fellas! Thanks for keeping our airplane fleets safe for us all.

      @@viperfanacr Yes it can and it did. When it burns and is highly oxygenated--Jet-A can burn up to 2200 deg. F. When all 20,000 gallons of jet fuel from both 767s were released from the disintegrating aircraft, the fuel was traveling at nearly 600 MPH with the speed of the planes--which sprayed and atomized throughout WTC1 and WTC2 with those huge gapping holes in each building channeliing the steady 15 MPH northwestern prevailing winds right through each tower--that provided a steady flow of fresh oxygen supply until the steal trusses that held up each floor started to melt from the 2000 degree F. flames and failed--causing a domino effect classic pancake collapse of both towers. Basic physics--not science denial. What's up with you?

    Speaking from experience As a 1 time gas station builder I've seen the inside of Many tanks. And I could tell you that the tank inside this airplane Has never seen 1 drop of fuel!!!!
    They're doing these videos as damage control Because of how much information is getting out About the truth that these planes use no fuel. The only engine that would use fuel is the auxiliary engine in the back. That engine is what drives the main engines with compressed air. You can also witness for yourself In many vacation spots where the people on the beach Wait for a plane to take off and they hold on to the fence as the Air blows blows them around. Well whats coming out of the engine is very clean and very cool air As in Being run by only air. No person has ever been burnt By the air coming out of these engines as you would expect if it was Run with fuel that air would be very hot enough to severely burn people
