  • Using mostly "recycled" items, my new Landcrusier is a low-budget setup for solo camping. The whole outfit was done within a week of after-work hours, not including prior repairs and fixes due to the previous owner's negligence.
This is not the final stage but I've learned to document every step of the way.

As a wise man once said "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with".
Altar took care of you for a long time but there's a different LC100 here now, ready to go on adventures with you.
    Give him a chance.

    It's a never ending thing.
I've had my travel trailer for 10 years now and still changing things around.
My cargo van has gone through so many changes, I forget how many!
I only have two camping trips on my 4Runner and have ditched the platform bed system I made already. I rather have the headroom.

My 270 became a 180 after a vicious windstorm that caught me by surprise. Frame is bent but still works overall.

If fuel consumption is an issue you can always convert the Cruiser to Deisel.
Expand on your fabrication skills and reuse something. Thats actually being more ecologically friendly by reusing/recycling.
Us fabricator Hot Rodders have been recycling metal and vehicles before it became a thing :)

Each day, we learn something new. Fresh ideas come into our minds, because we have different backgrounds, and therefore gain more perspective.
Stay inspired, because you are doing, what we all like doing, expanding the possibility of how we travel, and the remote places we reach.
As we go, we also inspire others, because they inspire us.

Monique, you can stiffen the 1/8" aluminum platen for your MaxTrax by adding some "speed holes". Basically drill 1.5" to 2" holes and hit them with dimple dies.

In life, when we know what qualities we are looking for, we can find them.
Even when putting all the aspects together takes some fabrication skills.
What skills we lack, we can acquire and adapt, ... because the end goal, is to be functional, in the best way we can...which makes each step of the way, inspired by the light we see in future.
Each individual, has something different, something to contribute, which is not fully known to others, because we are all made as different as our finger prints, ..to honour our creator, with our end results

So a good starting point, but I see no fire extinguishers having had two friends who encountered the dreaded fire one saved as he was camping where there was a dozen other campers and a good half had two or three per vehicle so only lost his backup solar set up the second lost everything in the bed of his Ute and the topper he put it out by reversing into a river nearly losing it from flooding in the process but at least 10K in damages.
So think about at least a couple one in the passenger footwell you can get brackets that adapt to the front seat mounting points either a universal but there are companies do vehicle specific ones, have another at the rear mount to the tailgate so always easy to grab.

I’m still seeing you in a Troopy or even a country ambulance. Did you see any here? They come in several sized backs from hi tops to just slightly higher which would be more suited to your offroading. It just gives you that little bit more room. If I ever get rid of my ambulance, I’ll be getting into a Troopy without a second thought. Stay safe and eat your vegemite.

Do you have a preference for a petrol 4wd over a diesel one?
Altar was also a V8 petrol.
Or is it a case of what is available? I know in Australia, it would have been easy to get a diesel, but not so much in America/Canada.
It's interesting that this one is heavier on fuel than Altar.

    • @OverlandLady
      @OverlandLady  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Any LC100 in Canada would haven been an import because we never sold it in local market. And i’d love to have a diesel but they are pricy..
