Ive been using VDJ since i was 18 DJing for noth events and clubs, im now 40, it hasnt failed me since. Was considering to migrate to Serato but after watching this video and reading all the comments, i think i will stick with VDJ. Thank you my fellow DJ's. May the force be with you in the mix. ❤✌🏼🙏🏼
I switched to Virtual DJ just a few months ago. Before that, I had been using Recordbox for many years, starting from its first version. However, with the release of Stems in Recordbox, I became thoroughly disappointed with the software due to constant issues, glitches, and high CPU usage. Additionally, I bought the new Macbook Pro with M1 Pro, and it's simply incredible how Virtual DJ analyzes and isolates vocals, melodies, and beats in real-time. The clarity is astonishing compared to Serato; Virtual DJ is far ahead. And, of course, the mapping variations and scripts are simply amazing. Many of my DJ colleagues look at me with confusion and mockery when I start up Virtual DJ, but all of that disappears after 5-7 minutes when they hear what can be done live.

VDJ always used less resources than Sersto and Rekordbox, even with Video, special effects and different skins. Even when VDJ crashed, the basic (music) would continuously play while resetting. It is these small things that set VDJ apart.
This is why I hate ‘industry standards’-it kills innovation and development. Serato is glitchy. Rekordbox is a bit more stable but kinda bland. VDJ is incredibly fast and stable and does everything the others do plus more. It’s as good as Serato for when I do turntablism type stuff but when doing sets on venue CDJs with USB sticks, it preps those as well as Rekordbox. It is the Swiss Army knife of DJ software. It does it all-and usually better than everything else. Only thing I wish they’d do is an iOS version. Djay on iPad is cool and iPads are now viable pro DJ platforms.
I've always used Virtual DJ when I used to DJ years ago. I just came back to DJing and started using VDJ again but had been hearing a lot about Serato. I installed it and upgraded to Pro and instantly hated it so I came to see what I was missing, but it looks like I wasn't going crazy, VDJ is so much better.
I used virtual Dj cracked for some years, after that I switched to serato dj pro. And it worked really good never had a problem I wanted to try Traktor the best software for me. But it has very limited features and the most controllers aren't compatible. I back to virtual Dj and 2 years with it and I don't want change to other software, finally i bought the full licence and will never leave it. Virtual DJ is not the best but it is the more complete, stable, and full new features every Time
I started using VDJ when I was djing at a dive bar every weekend - the bar had a laptop with virtual DJ on it...I didn't wanna bring anything but headphones. Been using Serato up to that point and it was shocking how much better/smoother the whole experience was. Runs just as well on my 2014 macbook as it does on my 2022 macbook (go figure). I've plugged in at least a dozen different controllers, scratch mixers etc and they have all worked FLAWLESSLY with absolutely no setup. Tell me how my Serato branded controller and Numark Scratch work BETTER and have more functionality with VDJ? 🤷♂
@DJPollux-bp8yq Traktor is dead in the water (last time I checked) I used Traktor for years over Serato Itch as it was known before becoming DJPro. Same scenario with Serato, DJ's BEGGING Native Instruments to add some basic functions to keep up with the competition which regularly fell on deaf ears. Finally with the release of Traktor Pro 3 and the wet wallpaper it turned out to be, I jumped ship to Rekordbox, Great software with lots of updates, problem was certain Pioneer controllers did not work with its own software. Hugely frustrating. Then came VDJ 2021, revamped GUI with a ton of features and works with every known Controller and mixer on this phukin planet! Reliably fixes every bug reported, and with the use of scripts you can pretty much make the software do anything. FINALLY, VDJ's STEMS in beyond comparison! Serato and Rekordbox, not even close (last time I checked) Ironically, Traktor was the leader in STEMS!! But it was unusable in a DJ setting, It needed to be in a DAW which Native Instruments didn't have so it bombed. Great review! I have tried Rekordbox, Serato and VDJ and have concluded that VDJ is better for me. Although Rekordbox is better in some aspects (effects), for me the many options that area available in VDJ is exceptional! (Video Stems, customization etc)

Yet the "Pro DJs" are biased to serato etc and away from VDJ. Can't beat the stability over the rest and is, as you said, packed with virtually all the features. ( I don't know any that is missed, haven't played with the others to find anything useful ).
I've been with serato for over a dozen years, since SL1. I bought all my gear for serato. Numark Scratch, Phase, Reloop Neon. And.. Each of these devices works better with virtual DJ. Reloop Neon doesn't even have a full, correct setup or any skin to expand the preview and features. However, in virtual DJ there is a skin that allows this. Serato DJ Pro is no longer usable on my laptop since version 2.6.0. Version 3 and above is useless, everything jumps and lags. The only plus is the wireless HID option in the serato. I was very disappointed with serato.
Spot on ! Bought Virtual Dj and never looked back! Some have a cracked copy! They don’t work properly also buy a cheap Laptop/ MacBook! You will have problem ! Vj is miles ahead ! I use MacBook M1 and I’ve never had a problem 👍 thanks

My favorite DJ Software : Virtual dj 2023 and in second place, Rekordbox 6. If Pioneer add Stems and native Silicon M1/M2 build for mac, in next Rekordbox 7, my favorite will be 1) Rekordbox and 2) Virtual DJ 2023, because Rekordbox have the best clean built in FX, best audio engine, and a very clean interface. I don't like Traktor, in default settings all is worse in bad limiter....bad audio limiter (i've made measurements). The best audio engine are Rekordbox and Virtual DJ (With Pitchquality at 4, and Scratchfilterquality to 30 in options)
Most computers can play 2 mp3s together on SERATO. You want to mix video. For this you will need 10 000 usd at least pc to work as it should. Otherwise, you can buy separate audio or video recorder. Blackmagic design for example.
Virtual dj is number 1; it does everything a dj need and more. Serato is the industry standard. I am not sure why but people like to use software that are popular and Serato is very popular. Also at one point Serato's audio quality was better then Virtual Dj. Currently, I believe that Serato DVS is better than Virtual DJ but I have not tried it myself as most Djs don't use DVS. Serato also does not work well at all on a pc if you are a video dj as I am. You need a MAC and additional software to get Serato Video to work well. Tracktor does not offer video features and if you ask most DJs, they will tell you that Tracktor was popular 8 years ago but not anymore. Recordbox is new on the scene and doesn't stand out for any feature. Virtual Dj is the most feature rich and most stable software and that is why it should be number one on the list. It also has consistently released new features years ahead of any of the other dj software.

"...Serato DVS is better than Virtual DJ..." Which is one of the reasons why I won't switch. I gave up on controllers long ago, so DVS compatibility is a must.
@@djsubculture2111 Totally understand. I have seen many djs using DVS but they are not doing anything special so I don't get the appeal. Using DVS or not does not make you a better DJ. It seems like for show because you add more components and you are not any better DJ. You can scratch on controllers too and they sound just as good. To each their own but I don't get it. I did start out using turntables and it was good to learn it but it made no sense after I got the gist of it. A controller seems much more convenient and I could see no downsides of it.
Serato has always been a resource hog and I think it is starting to catch up to them with the more advanced features (which use more processing). You can test it- start up the DJ software and time the start up. All of them open basically instantaneously, except Serato- which takes at least 4x as long as the others. I have even had Serato not start once or twice. Its not surprising that VDJ does this better, they have had stems for at least three years now and Serato literally just got the stems. I am just waiting to see stems on Rekordbox and Engine. Once Engine gets stems with those advanced players.........
As an asian, VDJ is ftw. That video playback is very important for my use case. And the compatibility mode makes sure that vdj is still capable of running when you change to a newer hardware with driver issues.
Virtual dj is great and its light on your cpu even with real time stems though the very latest needs a certain type of computer to fully take advantage.Stability though in live performances as long as the computer is up to scratch goes to Serato though again real time stems may need the next generation of macs to fully get the best out of it so with all the other stuff i do with video and effects when broadcasting stems may have to wait as i am pushing my computer to the max as it is but Serato in live situations at gigs has always been stable
I have used vdj for years and after using serato lately, I feel that vdj is better for various reasons. It may not look as pretty but , I do think in a lot of ways functionally is superior, but that's just me...
CPU usage is a HUGE indicator of software quality and code maturity. Processing audio is not a complicated task. DAWs process 100s of tracks in real time so a 2 or 4 track DJ system should work on anything. Stems are a different issue, but if they are prepared beforehand they should still run smoothly on anything
Im going to drop this here, and it will put serato and rekordbox into the grave. VDJ suuport X64 VST. You can add in a mpk mini play and use it with serum on a 3rd deck. This alone makes the ability to produce any sound effect you want. Added with the ARP means you can create infinite loops. Nothing else touches VDJ. If you don't want to mess with another controller then you can add in plenty of other VST that add loops. VST is what makes VJD into a real live DAW based looper. THe pros such as james hype and others are binded into contracts to only use the other software. If the pros got there hands on VDJ and serum, then you would raise the bar completely in regard to performances. Maybe somebody reading this comment will pop up and send the other pros into the dust
I only have low level, Win 10 laptop. It runs VDJ, my DMX light controller software and other stuff ( open folders to search for something without upsetting the next couple of songs you have got setup, surf the net, whatever without upsetting the music ) obviously you can't hit it with hard work, eg latest and greatest games, that would be stupid. ( I have managed some older games as a test ) Trying to batch preprocess stems ( older stems version ) while playing music and the lights functioning got it working hard, didn't affect the music, did make the graphics stutter a little on the screen. No one "on the floor would know but not recommended on the night, may screw with YOUR, the DJ's timing. Try not to have to process new stems on the night unless you have a higher end system ( they can process " on the fly ".
If Virtual DJ is #1 where did you rank Serato, Rekordbox, and Traktor? Also, is Virtual DJ better with Key Detection since last year it ranked dead last with only getting keys right 50% of the time? I love Virtual DJ and agree that they could do a bit more in the graphic design department. How do you feel about DJ Pro Ai?
DJ pro was never tested, but Serato, while I still like it, crashes. A program that need to mix 2 songs in mp3 . How much power it needs. Thats terrible. Every pc must work ok nowdays for similar task, and I even dont mention stems.Serato crashes by simple usage sometimes.
I started to DJ before Technics 1200 were manufactured for the first time, I own licenses for all the different DJ software on the market. The only thing relevant imo is the fact that now we do not need to carry 40 record crates. That was the reason I started using DJ software even before it became a thing. Whatever works for you is the right thing for you.
Man u are right Serato is Garbage, hate i bought it steam frezzing, Glits a lot,had to get another Stronger Laptop, i7 still not working good, Virtual Dj 2020 was great no problem,
I got the Hercules 500 with djuiced and I hate it. I might upgrade my license for virtual dj for the Hercules 500. It changed the bpm in my library and everything. 😮
The only thing that i agree vdj is better than serato is on expansion mode, while vdj gives video and karaoke for free, you have to buy everything in serato
I do agree Virtual DJ is far ahead of Serato but Serato has rarely ever crashed on me, and I've been using it since it first came out over a decade ago. Then again I dont use Pirated Windows or any other pirated software.

Everyone is on the serato bandwagon because thats all they know and everyone else uses it ..people hate stepping out the box they are really missing out
Used serato since scratch live, as a turntablist the other software's besides traktor on dvs are average Dell pc i7 32gb ram 1tbssd.... no issues BUT ON Controllers the other software's are awesome, have acquired all of them over the years, and VDJ 2023 Stems sound better than serato imo.. I brought a ddj1000 as a bargain in 2021 and that controller with rekordbox is the best controller I've ever used tbh.... Imo dvs? Turntablism? serato- Anything else any of the other software's have got you covered...
I'd take VDJ over Serato ANY DAY. VDJ has never crashed on me and will easily ReWire with Ableton. And all that add-on rubbish is for the birds. At this point I'd rather pay the $300 and use any controller I want and rewire with Ableton. Serato is too watered down for me.
@@electronicbox6990 Wow coincidentally I use that very same mixer, I found its internal sound card to be having too much boomy and harsh Bass using Traktor 2, I then purchased Traktor 3 it sounded better but for the best sound I use Serato SL2 box with Serato connected to the Z2 directly analogue, how do you use your Z2?

Trying to batch preprocess stems ( older stems version ) while playing music and the lights functioning got it working hard, didn't affect the music, did make the graphics stutter a little on the screen.
Whatever works for you is the right thing for you.
tysm.
You gotta master things yourself find ways
Good to know.
Man u are right Serato is Garbage, hate i bought it steam frezzing, Glits a lot,had to get another Stronger Laptop, i7 still not working good, Virtual Dj 2020 was great no problem,
Virtual dj is very easy to use even vdj has lots of functions, i started using vdj since 2006 so for me vdj is the best dj software all the time
you are testing powerful and number one dj software in the world ok. my computer i3 4gbram but no freez no crush party 24 / 7 vdj best of the best
I got the Hercules 500 with djuiced and I hate it. I might upgrade my license for virtual dj for the Hercules 500. It changed the bpm in my library and everything. 😮
Very true
Serato using Mac it's very stable .
This is not a Serato problem it's windows problem
The only thing that i agree vdj is better than serato is on expansion mode, while vdj gives video and karaoke for free, you have to buy everything in serato
I didn’t see it being free it is subscription based
Traktor can win but they need to step up their features
with the right marketing, VDJ will be the no.1 choice.
I do agree Virtual DJ is far ahead of Serato but Serato has rarely ever crashed on me, and I've been using it since it first came out over a decade ago. Then again I dont use Pirated Windows or any other pirated software.
Yessir
hi Serato audio issue quality when pitch in time is on even without change key : th-cam.com/video/JR_8iXM2s80/w-d-xo.html
In Virtual Dj to have the best Audio quality, set in options (Performance) : PitchQuality 4, ScratchPitchQuality 30, and with thi settings VirtualDJ have SRC up to 96000 samplerate much better than Serato audio quality :)
VD is the most complete software ever , those that doesn't agree, its because they haven't try it yet , and they just follow the rest just for being the most popular software , but those that and had try both already know who is the goat .
VDJ 2023 is the photoshop of DJ software. What you can do with scripts, the others don’t even come close🎉🍾
Virtual DJ 2023 infinity FOR THE WIN
Everyone is on the serato bandwagon because thats all they know and everyone else uses it ..people hate stepping out the box they are really missing out
Serato has always been a cpu hog. I agree that VDJ is way ahead and lighter in the cpu.
Honestly
Used serato since scratch live, as a turntablist the other software's besides traktor on dvs are average
Dell pc i7 32gb ram 1tbssd.... no issues
BUT
ON Controllers the other software's are awesome, have acquired all of them over the years, and VDJ 2023 Stems sound better than serato imo..
I brought a ddj1000 as a bargain in 2021 and that controller with rekordbox is the best controller I've ever used tbh....
Imo dvs? Turntablism? serato- Anything else any of the other software's have got you covered...
VDJ :D
I'd take VDJ over Serato ANY DAY.
VDJ has never crashed on me and will easily ReWire with Ableton.
And all that add-on rubbish is for the birds. At this point I'd rather pay the $300 and use any controller I want and rewire with Ableton. Serato is too watered down for me.
But the main thing is sound, Serato sounds the best of all these other software
Come to listen my Traktor Z2 mixer.
@@bosmanragga51 I use it with X1 and F1 controllers only.
using both for 15 years and virtual wins hands down every time.
Virtual dj is the first and the best , virtual dj always is the first who update and give you great functions while all the others follow after years , for example the stems that virtual dj created first and after 3 years the rekordbox and serato added this and not very well working
People talk shot about virtual dj because they never used it it way better than serato dj.
VDJ is the best that all
virtual dj is the real king
I really regret buying Serato, I'm a mobile DJ and it doesn't have an automix button.
N1-TRAKTOR / N2-VIRTUALDJ / N3-REKORDBOX
VDJ screens are over done
Serato sucks lol
Thanks great ,that the truth
