Ultimoice is a cool dude. About a year ago I streamed for a week playing Earthbound and he came in and watched a few times and gave me some pointers.
I love how they pose on the couch whenever the camera dude shows up. Thanks for bringing us this run!
Sad that there's so few people for such a great game.
Probably really early in the morning
I know this is a (few) years late...but something I should have noted at the time. This was done at Twitchcon. My run got pushed to the early hours due to some people cancelling. When my run was about to happen, the whole floor event was shut down until like 8am or something. I'm sure there were people who would have watched had they been able to get in. It even took me a while to convince security to let me by as the runner.
I'm now obsessed with watching these speedruns. Earthbound is my all time fave game. Thank you!

Yeesh this game certainly has a bizarre plot. A warrior from the future travels to the past in the form of a bee to locate the chosen one and is unceremoniously killed off via swatting.
Ultimoice its a great runner, this run was charm and entertaining, i believe its not the first time we see those glitches in agdq, but its still awesome and funny. Please AGDQ, we need MOTHER 3 and MOTHER 1 next year, because its the 30 years anniversary of the first game!
37 minutes in and loving this one. Impressive display in the form of timings, knowledge, and glitch execution, and the player / couch pair are fantastic. They can talk very naturally about the game. Would love to see them again.

Reminds me. Back when I used to do main gate photos at my local theme park I used to use "Fuzzy Pickles" when photoing kids. Tell 'em "Say fuzzy pickles!" before snapping their pic.:D

I like to imagine that Ness' Groundhog Day is basically just him falling down the same flight of stairs over and over and over again. xD Like, no matter how hard he tries, his day ends by him just falling down the same flight of stairs.

@@JellyMyst I guess you could stretch it though cause he is the izzet guild parun(high rank) and they are blue and red so like fire and ice and spellcasting guild so psychic would sorta go with that.
Sam Gonzalez there's a point where Earthbound asks for the player's name, as in "name of the person holding the controller", so that it can surprise you with it during the final boss since you've probably forgotten about it by then.

18:55 You actually can get Tony out of the school without cheats by using the stairs glitch to go to the room where he normally is and get him that way, or by having Poo with Jeff to be able to teleport away, which can be done by getting captured in Threed as Poo, which can be done through a pretty complicated process. Basically, it’s possible, but somewhat complicated.
How do you get captured in Threed as Poo without cheats?
I just played this game for the first time this year after watching a speedrun from a couple years back, and its easily became one of my favorite most well written games. I cant believe I missed out so much as a youngin and its nice to see this played in the honor of that new Undertale "Sequel"

I hope when I eventually attend a GDQ, they'll have a Photo% run on the schedule. Great runner, great commentary, and everyone throwing deuces on "Fuzzy Pickles!!" has made this one of my favorite runs ever.

Do you think the lack of good father figures in the game is part of why it was called Mother in Japan?
I think I read somewhere that it was called Mother because at the time the RPG market was oversaturated with like, Fantasy settings and the Mother series is a big contrast using contemporary settings. Also, theres a big lore tie-in woth the entire series and stuff

Can someone explain why they don't use skip sandwiches to move faster?
It's probably a routing thing
Likely similar to why OoT runners don’t use hover boots; the speed boost is negated by an associated effect. For hover boots it’s the slip sliding when turning and start stop movement, for skip sandwiches it’s likely the menu work that comes with it when eating the sandwich on top of purchasing a bunch of them. And with RNG manipulation being based on how many letters are printed on screen it could likely mess with routing and oddly enough lose time.

TOONS. Thanks for checking in. Still alive and well. I took time off to start a new career and then ended up founding another tech company when an opportunity came up...The time has gone by fast. I'm only recently rising up for air again as the new venture stabilizes. I did do a MWSF run of EarthBound August, 2022 as a throwback, which you can probably find someplace on YT. It was a really rough run (both with RNG and because I was recovering a lost voice), but we escaped some bad luck and finished strong. AndyPerfect had the commentary, which was a real treat.

Hah! Don't worry, I took plenty of guff for that on my stream. Someone even sent me the card for my wall of decorations. Unfortunately I grew up in a small, Midwestern town. This is kind of an EB/related story, actually. I remember buying some Magic cards as a kid, and my mom at the time (seeing this as the last straw) thought they were evil and threw them in the trash along with my EarthBound cart and other things that had magic as a concept in them. I snuck out to the garbage that night and recovered my EB cart, the only thing I was brave enough to take from the discarded items. That's the cart that is in the SNES on this run. TAKE THAT MOM.

So ChuggaConroy presented some info that I take as cannon (forget if it actually is, or just fan theory/headconnon) But, the Photo man was hired by an older Ness to take photos of their journey, because as he got older his memories of their journey began to get foggy and fade.
