I remember on one play through of the game on ps3 I somehow glitched the model onto my normal character, the thing was I couldn’t fix it and when I went to the store in game to see if I could get my custom character pack I ended up with a floating Cyprus head, I can’t remember for the life of me how I did it, it was years ago

Yes, there is a mod called My Steelport Emulator from saintsrowmod website, and I think it's possible to get the outfit from there, check the mod, www.saintsrowmods.com/forum/threads/my-steelport-emulator.17361/
You can get this outfit in Saints Row IV as well, while the website was still up, you could import the character and use it. Luckily I still have it on my save file on PC.

So I have made some new glitch discoveries to this mission, there is this glitch I have found that if you accept the plastic surgery in the cutscene the game doesn't freeze, it's loading because you entered the plastic surgery but if you pause the game in the loading screen you can see the menu but without your character. By spamming pause and down on your controller or keyboard you can move the selection in the plastic surgery, if you then proceed to exit you will have your normal clothes on. Although with your normal clothes, the mission is still playing normally as it should. Sadly, your character isn't in the cutscenes because I think the Cyrus Temple in the cutscenes is a NPC model. Note: I did this glitch on a PS4, so I don't know if this glitch will work for the other versions or if something will happen differently.
You mentioned trying co-op for the jumping out thing, but not with the menu thing. Is it possible in co-op to have one player at a store or a crib or something where they can save the outfit?
I forgot to mention it in the video but it will kick you out of the store or crib menu before the mission starts. Even if you time it perfectly, you’ll always be kicked out :(
I have a damaged saints row 3 disc and when the mission finished It just stayed on my character so just scratch the disc up a little and play through the mission
You can get Cyrus outfit on PC using Sandbox+ mod. Just install the mod, start your game and press E+INSERT buttons on your keyboard to switch between special outfits. And among other outfits you will find all those outfits that was in the missions. Besides Cyrus outfit you can get Virtual Reality from that Deckers mission where you need to fight Matt and that Trailblazing suit. But, your Cyrus outfit will be without his face, like your character will just wear the outfit but you have to make Cyrus face yourself in Image as Designed. And after you get that outfit, just go and save it. So, yeah, that's that. I can make a video about it if you don't believe me.
I'd love to know the origins or back stories of some more of the character ideas. Steve Jaros talked about how Matt Miller was inspired by a Vampire: The Masquerade character created by one of his friends, but I'd like to hear more. For example, the Cyrus Temple and Kia duo very much remind me of Marcus Penn and the female mercenary in "Under Siege 2: Dark Territory. The Sons of Samedi also have a remarkable likeness to the Jamaican posse in another Seagal movie "Marked for Death". Since Kieth David was in SR1 and SR2, as well as "Marked for Death", was there some epic fanboy conversation with him about that film? I don't know if there is a direct correlation, but I'm fascinated in knowing about these and many other characters that paid homage to movies and rl people.

I'd just do what the new Halloween is doing ignore the sequel, that being the fourth one and if you want the third I like some of the characters. Basically you'd just have a line that references a movie they made about the boss being president and that movie involving aliens. Or maybe just have a poster or a billboard somewhere. The idea would be to ignore what the fans don't like and add on to what they do like.

Why not have a co-op partner load up the mission while you at a crib bring up the menu and save it there?
It will kick you out of the menu every time sadly. And if you can time it right while in the a clothing store, your game will crash :(
