Since it looks like you get snow most of the winter - have you ever considered getting a set of dedicated winter tires on separate rims that you put on for winter time? We do that on our vehicles here in NW PA for the lake-effect snows. We have winter rims/tires for the Volt, the F350, the Ranger, and the Expy.
I did consider it, and several people do here. But even though we get a decent amount of snow in the mountain areas like Woodland park where I drove to. For Colorado Springs it melts off after a few days until the next storm so I really have to have a good all around tire.
No snow here yet, its been a very mild fall in Ontario. I just put on General Grabber Arctic LT winter tires, really didn't notice any difference in range. Very nice state you live in. OBY my tesla adapter should be arriving in December, fingers crossed. Cheers

Since you are in Colorado too you understand that there is a lot of melting snow and wet and dry weather along the snow and ice. I looked at the K02s, that is what Costco was recommending, since they didn’t sell the Wildpeaks. But the problem with the K02s that I was seeing on reviews is that they weren’t as good in dry and wet weather, but looking at the reviews for the Wildpeaks people were saying that they are great in wet and dry weather as well as snow. If I lived further up North where snow was constantly on the ground I might have considered more the K02s, but since it snows here and melts away in a few days I needed a tire that handled variety. Hope that helps - also I did NOT look into the the K03s, but I did look at the AT4s and I would have gotten those if I was in more snow or off-roading on a regular basis. I settled on the at3s because I was very satisfied with all the reviews and with 17k miles on them now they still look new and I have been very satisfied with them. Oh also and this is a really big deal, there was a small hit to the range for the first 5k miles, but after that there is no difference. I guess the new just needed to wear off. I think it’s because what the reviews were saying and Falken themselves said that they engineered these to do really good on highway too. I can’t say that about what I read for that K02s Another tire you can look at that came out after I bought these are the TOYO Open Country A/T III EV - they are designed specifically for our type of EV trucks and so far I’m hearing good things.
Cool video man. I notice my lightning like to slide on almost anything but dry pavement. So would you say these tires help prevent that compared to the road tires I have on from factory? I was thinking of going to an all terrain but didn't want to make it slide more than it already does. Thanks for the insight 😎
It really depends on your area. A/Ts in general have less traction on dry & wet pavement and great traction in dirt and snow. These Falken Wildpeak's were the only ones that are rated for all of the above, and reviews confirmed it. Which is why I went with them over a K02 or Firestone. You can also get a LT version as well. Mine is just the P rated tire. The lightning will do either, but I might try the LT next time.
Damn, snow already!? This will be my first winter with my Lightning, I picked it up in the spring, but have Michelin X-Ice tires on 18" wheels (cheaper than trying to get 20" winter tires). The same tires have been great on my previous vehicles, so gave them another shot. So far my efficiency has been comparable, any difference in usage is likely due to thermals (battery and cabin).

@@F150LightningMike About 15k miles on them now. They are wearing quite well, minimal effect on range. They are way better with hydroplaning than the factory tires, have yet to do the snow test. Only noisy at low speeds, highway they are quiet. Ride is nice at 50 PSI pressure. Balancing has been great. So far so good I would buy them again (actually they shipped me 5 by mistake, so looks like I only need to buy 3 next time).

Heres the latest video I did about them. I have been running a trip for over 14k miles, actually I just got back from my trip so it’s 17k miles and the range is 2.2 mi/kwh. In the beginning, it seemed to have a little bit of impact on range for about the first 5000-10000 miles maybe - .1 mi./kWh. But after that, it really has seemed to even out to where I can’t tell a difference.
Yep. I don’t drive aggressive, and im not sure why but the first snow around here people seem to ignore. There are a lot of accidents because of that. The video is sped up so it looks worse, I was going a little under the speed limit. And they are driving about 5-10 over. :-)

I’ve seen people do it, but I just stick with the ATs all the time because of the weather here and how fast the snow melts after it comes.

How has the underbody dealt with the corrosion?
I don’t see any corrosion, but I will wash it on a regular basis to keep the salt off. Always a brushless wash.
