    What's Happening to Nerlens Noel's NBA Career? Let's talk about the story of NBA player Nerlens Noel and what's up with his NBA Career. He was originally drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers but once Joel Embiid proved that he was a game changing nba player, it was clear that there was no need for Noel in a crowded frontcourt. He's now on the Dallas Mavericks but his career has stalled as he's been in trade rumors with the Los Angeles Lakers recently.

    I love how after Embiid started playing the Sixers could have not cared any less about how Okafor or Noel felt they knew they already had their guy

      Night Zerez As a 76ers fan I gotta disagree. Okafor was god awful on defense and was virtually unplayable. As for Noel he was kinda caught in the logjam and was kinda banged up a bit. Granted I would have loved to try to play Embiid and Noel together because i thought they’d be a great fit but they only played a combined 4 minutes together. I still think he has promise but he needs to be in the right situation.

    • @xabbitz6148
      @xabbitz6148 6 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Ocho Cinco what’re you disagreeing with? Okafor is trash and Noel just isn’t better than Embiid in anyway that’s the reality of what happened since Noel played better as a Center than PF they knew they couldn’t have both players

    • @soldierofbeats
      @soldierofbeats 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Night Zerez About Noel. I think they cared about him but they decided to trade him instead of losing him for nothing in free agency. We all knew Noel wasn’t going to come back. No way the team would pay crazy money for Noel to be a back up.

      Noel and embiid could’ve been a modern “twin towers” similar to what the rockets had back in 84’ when they had Ralph Sampson and Hakeem Olajuwon. Oh well...

      @@loro2614 I know what your trying to say, but my point is he is a really good defender. He is lengthy, athletic, and has good timing on his jumps. In addition being able to keep up with fast players in the perimeter. Also, points and blocks are different. Teams have game plans against player that the offence runs through so you will score easily if you play small minutes, but with blocks, teams cannot change how high you can jump and how well you time your jumps.

    If Nerlens Noel wants to have a long and successful career, Celtics should sign him. I'd rather see Ainge let go of Baynes and use that money for Nerlens, He's a Boston native, young, freakishly athletic for a big and has dpoy potential on him if he's on the right team. Celtics will be relevant for the next decade and I can see him flourishing and being their anchor for years to come!

    I think he can bounce back next year. Dudes a defensive nightmare with athleticism and defensive instincts you can't teach and other then complaining about minutes (which I feel was s legit gripe). he'd be perfect fit on a team like the San Antonio, Indiana, Miami play style wise. As far as betting on himself hindsight is always 20-20 and I liked that mentality that he felt like he was worth more was willing to prove it and yeah it backfired but shows great passion and competitiveness. Rumor has it the Mavs been jerking Noel around because they're butthurt he turned down their $70 mil contract offer. I'm a Mavs fan & I still can't figure it out. I know he was rumored to be a bit of a diva when he first got here, but this year it's been reported that he's been a great teammate. You always saw him standing up & cheering for his teammates even when he wasn't playing. Seems like a guy whose matured a bit. As for the Mavs, they run JJ Barea, Yogi Ferrell, Dorian Finney-Smith, Salah Mejri & crap like that out on the floor for 20-30+ min a night, so you got me why they can't give Noel more run. He's regretting turning down that contract, but we're gonna regret jerking him around next year when he's playing for somebody else. Since he's comeback the last few games, he's a terror on the floor. Always disrupting passing lanes, blocking or effecting shots, and rebounding or getting his hands on balls for 2nd chance opportunities. The Mavs don't have anyone else like him.

    • @michaelhaydenbell
      @michaelhaydenbell 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah I'd like to think there just HAS to be more to the story, cuz for the life of me I can't imagine why we'd be WASTING such an opportunity when we need to be finding talent anywhere we can these days. It was REALLY stupid to turn down that offer, but at the same time it might end up being a blessing in disguise if he doesn't make some kind of effort to put on muscle and/or get a consistent jumper. He can't last down on the block 24/7 with that frame long term.

      Pretty sure Dallas is doing whatever they can right now to make him look less valuable so they can get him on a similar deal this summer now that everyone seems to think he’s not worth a max. Plus, it would make sense that they’re not actively using him because their record would be too high with him on the floor for them to be able to get a good pick in the lottery. So I think it’s about draft position and making other teams’ perception of his value low so there won’t be any competition to sign him this summer. Not sure but as a Mavs fan I’ve been scratching my head about it and that’s the only thing that seems logical considering their current situation

    What happened was injuries + the only two teams he's suited up for were both in full tank mode (Dallas was tanking I assume, don't follow them), so his professional player development is somewhere between nonexistent and slightly less than nonexistent.
    Him + Okafor (can't be bothered to spell check his name) were massively screwed over by the 76er's staff in regards to only drafting centers basically, and the general tanking atmosphere/strategy.

    As a mavs fan who has rooted for Noel to play & do well... I can tell you what the inside rumor here in Dallas is that he doesn't practice hard which if you play for Rick you had best put in the work! Also a rumor he smokes weed which I dont really care about if you can still play... To me its no different then players who go out drinking at night after the game.... As long you aren't smoking or drinking b4 the game or practice then I dont care what you do at home away from the game... But since Noel arrived in Dallas Rick & Noel just never got along. I always use to give the Mavs bloggers & insiders crap cause Id always be like why is Noel not starting or why is he not even playing? The answers I would always get from those closest to the team is he doesn't practice hard & that he does smoke weed. Then Id be like regardless Noel playing is still better than having a 39 yr old Dirk or Dwight Powell having to log minutes at Center cause they refuse to play Noel! & they cant play Salah 40 minutes per night... So the mavs could've really used him but there was something that basically pissed Rick off when it came to Noel!

    Noel signed a 2 year / $3,745,548 contract with the Thunder on July 2018. Now regretting he (or his agent) turned down the 4 year / 70M extension offer from the Mavs the previous year.

    I don't know or understand why he hasn't become the player he was supposed to be was a jump shot away from a all star great player I really think he deserved rookie of the Year and after his solid rookie year I really thought he could have been a 18-22ppg 11-13rpg 2-3bpg 2spg 3.5apg and he still can become great at only 23 but idk what's stopping him at least becoming 12-14pog 10-12rpg 2bpg and a top if not the best rim protector his work ethic is unmatched and his determination can't be bought

    Where he already doesn't have a shot, may as well just hit the gym and add some muscle. That would help with the injuries as well.

    I feel bad for these young players that listen to these agents that tell them how great they are, or how money they'll get then the players(Isaiah Thomas, Nerlens Noel)turn down mega-deals or voice how much they are going to get as in I.T's. case(when he stated that Boston will need a truck)to resign him which actually got him traded to Cleveland. Jalen Rose stated the other day that because I.T. played through his injury last year during the playoffs it might have cost him 100 million, as well as Nerlen's turning down 40 something million which he will never get again with his injury history.
