Started fly fishing a year ago and Just found this channel after watching every other channel on TH-cam and it’s the best Iv found. Keep up the good content mate, throughly enjoyably viewing 🎣
Hi Rhys, Had to watch that a few times as you were fast. Great stuff. As you said to kyle about winter approach , I will look forward to that one, as I will be doing one soon.
You probably dont give a shit but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the login password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Clay Johnathan i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm trying it out now. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Always interesting to look through another anglers tackle - thanks for sharing Rhys! Being an non-comp angler and just getting started (with a limited budget) if you were limited to 4 lines (fishing from an anchored boat), what would you choose? For weight-forward lines what length of head do you recommend? Cheers!
Floating line, sink tip. Fast glass and a DI5 would cover you for most scenario's on a trout season from a boat! I don't really pay much attention to the length of the head to be honest Hank
Wow that came out faster than I expected. Very nice collection there, I thought I was bad at 8 lines for my switch. Good insight as to what you carry daily though, thanks for showing us
Hi Rhys, on your pre made up rigs, how do you tie the rig to braided loop? Also on you bung video it looks like your leader is a 15ft length of 8lb flourocarbon, do you not use a tapered leader to assist with turn over? Sorry for the basic question but just getting back into fly fishing Tx Kingsley
Hi Rhys. Many thanks for all the videos. One question do you use loop connectors on the fly line to attach the leader? Because some of my friends remove the plastic of the fly line and make a small loop with the interior, they said it is more discreet. Cheers
@@RhysFishes I make competition nacional and international. Lake is not my best, my friends of the national team told me that using the fly line will make everything more discret and better for the line run between the rod rings. I prefer the braided loops because is more easy to apply on the lines, because the other method takes a lot of time.
What method do you use to tie your leader to the braided loop? I want to make up some leaders with droppers but don't want to have to cut off three inches of leader when I change set ups great channel 👌
Hi Rhys love watching your channel full of information and keep up the good work. The airflow reel is it a 4/6 or 7/9 changing over to theses reels as like you I have a few lines .
Hi Rhys have you had any problems with memory in your Cortland mint green floating lines? I have bought a couple after a few recommendations and the memory is terrible I have persevered and tried everything to sort them!
Hi Rhys Wanting to change my intermediate line in the next month or so. Torn between a cortland blue and a Rio aqualux or camolux. Are they worth the extra money? Interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks Emyr
Both are great. I prefer the aqualux and it casts better but many people love the cortland blue. Either are a good choice but you'll find casting easier with the aqualux
@@RhysFishes Lots of places are out of stock of the aqualux, I’m tempted by the camolux have you any information on that line? Also, just while Im asking, I’m going to have to replace my floater I hadn’t realised just how bad it was til this weekend, looking at cortland sl, orvis pro, or rio gold. Don’t mind spending money on a floater as I probably do 80% of my fishing with it! Cheers for all the advise, your videos are great! And helping with modern ideas on my return to the sport.
Love the videos Rhys, I’m still fairly new to fly fishing and your videos have really helped. Say you’re fishing a sinking line and want to change to a floating line quickly how do you do it? Do you have a reel already set up ready to go? Or is there a quick method of getting the line off the spool and on your reel?
Hi Rhys - A Blackwood boy here in Caerphilly! Question- You have 3 floating lines 7 weight and 2 number 6 rods does that mean you use the Reddington rod the most or put no 7 lines on your 2 no 6 rods. I'm looking for my next new no 7 wf floating for my new airflo switch black reel after seeing yours ...and it makes sense. Any advice? any recommendations? I'm thinking Airflo 40+. Love the channel.
My rods have slightly changed now to vision stillamaniacs however if i have a 6wt rod i'll usually overload it with a 7wt line as standard. No sciene behind it, just working with what i have as I try and keep kit to a minimum as best as possible. Airflo have a range of great fly lines to choose from.
@@RhysFishes Cheers Rhys. That’s what I was thinking you were doing. I’m going to try an eight on my seven rod But like the idea of the 6/7 combo keeping the lines I’ve already got. Great work with the videos. Thanks for taking the time to answer. Best of luck both fishing and YouTubing 👍
Hi Rhys. Your making some great videos. For small stillwater's and fishing the top 6 ft. What would be your go to set up on floating line? And for sinking line?
Rhys why would you go for Di sweep line rather a normal di line ? I’ve got nothing deeper than a di 3 and I’m going to invest in a di5 but didn’t know if a sweep was better than a normal line ? Good vid as always
Rhys, I just found your vids and channel. The most recent was the "What's in my fishing box". The question I have is where did you find the large clear, flat fly box? Please post a link if possible. Thanks
Hi Rhys do you make your own plastic flyboxes if so. Where can i buy the foam with cut out inserts for the hooks. If anyone else can help please reply. Thanks
I'm 72 Rhys and told my daughter, NOT to sell my fishing gear, for what I told my wife I paid for them. I too bought six Shakespeares from John Norris, £33 pound each and have plenty of expensive rods in my racks and boxes and bags with numerous reels, spools, lines and leaders, with enough tools to go on safari, never mind fishing and camping, it's what we do.
Thanks Rhys, have you ever tried Prestons Innovation power line for leaders? I think one or two of the top anglers are using it but keeping quiet. It’s a line that top carp men rate highly so why not for trout. I’ve been using it for years now and in my opinion it knocks the spots off most “game” lines. Cheers
Rhys Fishes Hi Rhys, it’s me again. If you were buying one floating line with a sinking tip , would you recommend a line with a 3ft sink tip or a 6ft sink tip, or a 10ft sink tip? Thanks in advance for answering all my questions. Cheers Rhys. Bob.

why do you carry so many different brands of flouro tippet?

I use a braided loop, I don’t think there’s much benefit to the way you recommended (on the waters I fish). Perhaps you fish more pressured waters?

Cortland blue. Shallower than a DI3, faster than a slow intermediate.
