  • The Browning Hi Power is a single-action, semi-automatic handgun available in 9mm and .40 S&W calibers. It is based on a design by American firearms inventor John Browning, and completed by Dieudonné Saive at Fabrique Nationale (FN) of Herstal, Belgium. Browning died in 1926, several years before the design was finalized. The Hi-Power is one of the most widely used military pistols in history, having been used by the armed forces of over 50 countries.
    The Hi Power name alludes to the 13-round magazine capacity, almost twice that of contemporary designs such as the Luger or Colt M1911. The pistol is often referred to as an HP (for "Hi-Power" or "High-Power") or as a GP (for the French term, "Grande Puissance"). The terms P-35 and HP-35 are also used, based on the introduction of the pistol in 1935. It is most often called the "Hi Power", even in Belgium. Other names include BAP (Browning Automatic Pistol) and BHP (Browning High-Power).

      What?! Are you not a fan of the 20 minute stammering one-hand demonstrations in a dimly lit garage? Yeah me neither
      Great vid!

    Love it! I didn't have to subject myself to Bubba shooting steel for the first 30 seconds, and then flapping his lips for the next five minutes. Just disassembly, then reassembly; that's all we need!

    Its been years since I took my Browning High Power apart. So yesterday I picked uo my Springfield SA35 and decided to do some swapping. I took my BHP to Terry Tussey for a trigger job and tune up a few years ago a d I got a really keen trigger. It not super light as that is a Browning thing with the cantilever fire control, but super clean break. The SA35 came with a good trigger but some distinct creep as the sear moves against the hammer hook. So I decided to swap the sear and hammer out of thr BHP into thr SA35 and vica versa. Saw this to refresh my skills to taking it apart. Did the switch and now my SA35 has an instant Terry Tussey trigger job. I also swapped thr single side safety for thr BHPs ambi safety. Thanks for posting this up.

      No he doesn’t, he didn’t make any of this. It’s just footage of a videogame/software called “world of guns: gun disassembly.”

    This is a nice animated cartoon but it's an even better way to break things like screws and have springs and small parts flying all over the place.

    How does the thumb safety work on a HP? Does it block the seer like on a 1911?

    • @Sivispacemparabellumguns
      @Sivispacemparabellumguns  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you are right, the BHP manual safety is very similar to the 1911. It blocks the slide and sear. In the video about the functioning of BHP, this is shown: th-cam.com/video/JeIyN1Eke-U/w-d-xo.html

    • @Werewolf_Six
      @Werewolf_Six ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Sivispacemparabellumguns The thumb safety cannot be engaged when the hammer isn't cocked... yet your video demonstrated this twice. Otherwise, I love the video except for that one little critical mistake (unless of course you're attempting to depict the SFS, such as BHSS sells, and I don't think that was the case).

    • @bryancross8270
      @bryancross8270 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the slide stop is engaging then it's almost certainly a problem with the mag you're using. In my experience only Browning/FN OEM and MecGar mags are 100% reliable. If the slide stop is _not_ engaging, then it could be any number of things. Start with replacing your recoil spring, then look for any bent/broken bits possibly impeding the slide from moving forward.
