    Not a Cubendo user (yet), but is there a reason you choose to export rather than just hit record and treat it like a take? Or record it to a new track/channel?

    Thank you very much for this video Chris!! I wanted to see your approach on reamping because I use the same methods, and with the first method I get latency on the reamped track. My setup is: Cubase 10.5 / WIN10 - I9 9900K - Z390 Aorus Master MB - 32GB RAM -> Audient Id44 -> Radial X-Amp -> Evh 5150 III head and 2x12 Cab -> Sontronics Orpheus -> Audiet Id44...I have a pretty good setup, maybe I have to check some settings like delay compensation or something to get that sorted! Always very helpful, thank you!!

      Didn't get any latency on the recording itself, same results with both methods, but that can depend on the audio interface and plugins already in your session from what I understand. Using the External FX option to reamp will help for sure.

    Hi Chris,
    I've good interface (motu) preamp and DI box (Radial J48), I plan to record my tracks first at home and after to reamp them on the real studio where I record my albums (it got a radial reamp box also), so it will be more about get the sound than focusing in guitar playing.
    For a DI guitar or bass, do you recommand to be on the "-18/-10" box also? or it also be more like for pick (like low E string metal attack)?
    Thanks a lot
    Cheers from France

    When you record a dry guitar signal with DI box , the volume drops. Do you still have to rise the input gain on the audio interface? Or just waiting for the reamping to adjust the volume level?

    Chris, as always thanks for great video. You're the guy number one when it comes to Cubase, no doubt. I have one question/problem with Cubase, would love to see the video explaining it in depth. Render in place and all the settings. I use hardware outboard EQ and run some of my tracks from audio interface through the analogue gear and back. To print them I use render in place. So far so good. But Im so confused with all those settings, never know which one to choose while rendering. I would love you to explain which settings are the best for this example: I have a vocal track which is bused to VOCAL bus. On this bus I have let's say deeser, then I want to run this vocal track through analogue EQ, I print it (I mostly choose the second last option while rendering) then after printing the new vocal track is bused to the main fader, so I have to bus it again to VOCAL bus. But I have a feeling that while printing and selecting second last option all plugins from the VOCAL bus were included as well. I'm confused. Chris can you please make a video about rendering and explaing every single option with examples. I would greatly appreciate as I use my outboard EQ all the time and I think I make mistakes while printing then busing again ect. Thank you. Lucas

    • @mixdownonline
      @mixdownonline  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The second option won't include the Group where your vocal track is routed.

    • @LucasMichalski
      @LucasMichalski 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mixdownonline thank you. So correct me if I'm wrong. If I'm selecting third option and print the track, the third option also takes all plugins from busses into consideration? So for example if I have vocal bused and deeser on the bus and then want to print that separate vocal.the third option will also print it with the deeser from the bus group (and then the new printed track is routed automatically into mix bus). When working on buses and using backward mixing a lot, which option second or third would you recommend while using external gear and printing separate tracks? Sorry for so many questions but it is confusing for me, and in my opinion you're Cubase expert and I follow you and watch you videos for long time and you're the first person to seek help with. Thanks Chris

    Don't know about the Radial Reamp but I did test the Reamp Box from Palmer and wasn't really happy. I don't know if it's fair to compare, but I recorded plugged directly on my DAW while playing through my amp to "feel" the sound. And when later I did reamp the same signal through the SAME amp (same settings), and it wasn't similar at all.

    • @mixdownonline
      @mixdownonline  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that can happen with cheaper passive Reamp boxes. The one I use (Radial Pro-RMP) is passive and might color the sound just a bit. If you want one that is very transparent, look for an Active Reamp Box like the Radial X-AMP or a high-performance passive like the Radial JCR Studio Reamper

    • @mixdownonline

      I use Render in Place to save time when bouncing VST instrument (MIDI to Audio). This is where I use it most. When working with external gear, Cubase will export in Real Time even with Render in Place so in this situation, Render in Place is not my first choice to be honest. I just do like I did in the video.

    I bought a radial box, but I have honestly never had an issue going straight out of Cubase into an amp, because you can just adjust the volume of the output track. The noise is therefore the same level of noise that would be there if you were coming out of your guitar itself. There is no noise added from digital recording. I don't really understand the need for the radial box.

They're bullet proof and cheap now that the Helix is everywhere. You can record both a clean DI and a processed track simultaneously and you may find that the dozens of amp sims and nearly 100 pedal and rack effect sims prompt you to abandon your amp all together like I did.
