    Greatly appreciating your reviews of lower-priced studio cans, and your visual test results, which are much more valuable to me than any amount of yakity-yak! Please keep 'em coming; your reviews are the best! :) I bought a pair of AKG K240 off Amazon, but am very disappointed. (Can't hear anything below 28Hz, and everything else is like listening with cotton wool stuffed in my ears.) So I'm looking for an alternative in the same price range or a bit higher.
    PS.. Gotta dig the t-shirt... I saw them in concert with Bonn Scott on vocals, back in 1980 at the Hammersmith Odeon, London, UK... PHENOMENAL sound... best I have ever heard!!

      I'm glad you're enjoying my headphone reviews! For critical listening to low bass frequencies the biggest consideration imo is clarity vs "perceived bass." Closed-back headphones such as DT770, M50x, etc. will give you the sense of having more bass, however the notes will not be as clearly defined as an open or semi-open back set. My go to recommendation critical listening that provides a good balance of clarity and perceived bass (along with very good mids and highs) are the Sennheiser HD600 which have also been on sale lately making them an even better value. My other go to headphone for good bass response with clarity is the Beyerdynamic DT880 pro.
      I bet the concert at Hammersmith was incredible. I actually saw them the same year at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Canada and again in 1996 at the Toronto Skydome. Definitely shows to remember... Cheers!

      @@askdrtk Many thanks for the reply! Actually the AKG K240s were much better than I initially thought... My poor initial impression was due to the quality of the material I was listening to! Nevertheless, I still decided to order a different pair, namely the Superlux HD681, which I expect to be better. They too are semi-open-backed, so I was glad to receive your comment about bass definition and open-backed 'phones.
      Sounds like you have good taste in music! At that AC-DC concert, they had a 20ft-tall wall of 4x4 cabinets behind them, stretching from one side of the stage to the other! I'd never seen that before, and I think that was part of the amazing sound. I went to numerous great concerts that year, including Blackfoot, Motorhead, Hawkwind (with Ginger Baker on drums!!), Rory Gallagher, Tom Petty, and ZZ-Top, to name a few. Good times!

    Very valuable review. I actually just got these headphones - my friend did not like the sound very much. I mainly use headphones for music listening and gaming. Have to be honest, at first the bass was a little overwhelming. However after a day I came to really like to sound profile so I decided to keep it. For listening to EDM it's great for my taste, and I don't mind the some missing highs and mids, for some styles of music it can even make the experience less harsh/aggressive, a softer, deeper listening experience.

    I listen to music a lot, but am not a audiophile. I can't tell the difference like you guys. I got this cause i needed headphones quickly and these were the only decent ones in the shop. I play Piano and i don't have any issues with the headphones. You do get sweaty when wearing them for hours.
    Also the foam covering degrades quickly but i couldn't care less and that's a issue with all headphones i had anyway.
    Even If you are anything like me, by that i mean you can't notice enough difference between headphones to worry about missing details in sound, it's not worth it.
    Go for cheaper onces. Or expensive. I didn't look at my options but i can guarantee there are better phones then this

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks! I would say both offer similar value but in different ways. The HD200's are more mid forward with reduced emphasis on the higher frequencies. I also find the pads and clamping force to be more comfortable vs the M20x's for longer listening sessions. The M20x's on the other hand have stronger, more well defined bass response, the mids seem a bit scooped, and the highs seem a bit boosted to my ears (I listen on many very neutral headphones for mixing so I am probably more sensitive to tone shaping vs what would be preferred sound for regular listening) . If you like bass you will probably prefer the M20x's. Some EQ can also go along way to achieving your preferred sound on both. I know this isn't one simple answer, but hopefully this will help you choose based on your preferred listening tone.

    nice video, which do you think has a better sound quality, sennheiser hd200pro or 350bt?

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for checking out my review and for the question!
      I have listened to the 350BT's on a few music genres for a couple of hours and I found them lacking bass response. There is an EQ app that allows you to boost the bass (preset stays with the headphones regardless of what they are paired to), but it sounded artificial to me. The HP200 Pro's have good low end, but the high end presence is lacking a bit to my ears. Choosing only between the two, and putting all else aside, based on sound only for music it comes down to preference. If you like alot of bass, the HD200 Pro's are superior in my opinion. If you like crisp clear sound and don't mind losing on some low end, the 350BT's are the answer. I also would say that i can listen to the HD200 Pro's for an extended amount of time, but found the 350BT's fatiguing to my ears after about an hour. For gaming, the 350BT's are better in that you won't miss any critical sounds (footsteps, etc.), but I am not that excited about bluetooth anything for gaming... Of course this is my ears, but I hope this helps out.

    • @agustind5744
      @agustind5744 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@askdrtk thank you! I appreciate your advice. I think I'll go for the 350BT's as a replacement to my ATH m30x which in only 3 months got their wire damaged, so being not detachable was a big con for me from HD200 pro's.

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand Audio Technica deciding to start with detachable cables on the m40x’s, but it would have been nice to maybe do a fixed cable on the 20’s as the budget option and then start the detachable cables on the 30’s. In any case, the 30’s are a bit more mid-forward vs the 350BT’s being more balanced in the mid and highs. The 350’s should work out well moving from the m30x’s imo.

      @askdrtk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for the question and for checking out my review!
      First, $30 is a great price for these headphones... I have tested them with Halo 4 and Forza 4. I found them to be very spacious, so I was able to sense the direction of sound around me quite well. They had good low end and gameplay felt immersive. For top level competitive gaming I would prefer something with more presence / high frequency emphasis to ensure nothing is missed, but I personally found I heard more game detail on the HD200 Pro's vs my Razer Krakens. Hope this helps out.

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If I set aside all uses except csgo, etc. the 200's would not be my recommendation.
      My pick for best affordable set that is capable of high-end gaming are the SteelSeries Arctis 5's. The 5's are a headset (retractable mic built in) that deliver excellent positional awareness. You will hear footsteps and other sounds from above, below, the sides, etc. They are usb and work with PC, Mac, and PS4 and 5 (they include a 3.5mm adapter, but usb is the way to go for gaming). I have a set that I use for gaming only and I find them very comfortable. I am not a high-end gamer, but from an audio perspective of what is needed for csgo type games, you need to spend over $200 usd to get any perceptible improvement imo. I am working on a way to review positional awareness response in order to provide useful reviews of gaming headphones (not just "these are great...") and I plan to start posting some (starting with the 5's) early in the new year. They usually are available for around $70 usd.

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would not recommend the HD200 Pro for mixing and mastering as their response curve is not even or accurate enough to ensure your mixes and masters will translate well to other headphones and speakers. In particular, the HD200 Pro do not handle higher frequencies well. For a good set of headphones in this price range with accurate response I recommend either the AKG K361 or for a slightly higher price, the Audio Technica M40x. Hope this helps out! I reviewed both of these options: K361: th-cam.com/video/mJRfrYdaX2w/w-d-xo.html and M40x: th-cam.com/video/jjkDInbbC2c/w-d-xo.html

    The HD 200 pro and the HD 400s are nearly the same price in my region, is there a specific reason why i should pick one instead of the other in this scenario?

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 200s are a closed back design while the 400s are open back, so if you will be listening at the same time as using a microphone the 200s will keep the sound from escaping and being picked up by the microphone. Also, closed back will keep out surrounding noise - better for public spaces or noisy environments. On the other hand, if you will be listening in a quiet environment and are not worried about others hearing or being disturbed by what you are listening to, the 400s have superior sonic qualities (better response and are more open). The 400s are superior for mixing and I found them to be more comfortable for long listening sessions (they breath so your ears stay cooler). I reviewed the 400 Pros here th-cam.com/video/3pXTzCRZEzM/w-d-xo.html for comparison. Hope this helps out!

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My pleasure. I agree, I find most headphone reviews to be very subjective ( to be fair, it is challenging to review the audio reproduction of headphones when the audience is unable to listen to them). I like to compare frequencies to original recordings to try to show coloration that can be expected as that takes me out of the equation as much as possible. Tone is a personal preference and I use different headphones for casual listening vs the ones I use for mixing (I prefer neutral honest headphones for mixing but like some added bass with great midrange clarity for listening). Performance / value is always up for debate, however I will say that I found the 400s to perform on par with a number of headphones in a similar price point, but I did not expect their accuracy to rival sets I use that are four and five times the price... As of the 200s, listeners can likely do better in terms of audio performance for the price imo.

    HD 200 PRO 엄청 답답한 소리나고, 신나는 음악 들어도 안신나요, 그래서 반품1위 입니다. 그래서 패키징을 이중으로해요. 반품못하게 하려고..아무튼 음질...진짜답답하고.. 구림.. 진짜답답해서 가슴도답답..

      Yes, the HD200 pro were disappointing compared to other Sennheiser headphones I use. The HD400 pro and and HD600 provide clear accurate sound. If you prefer neutral accurate sound with good clear high frequencies, in a similar price range to the HD200 pro, the Audio Technica ATH-M40x and AKG K361 are both excellent choices.

    Got em, hated em, sold em. Maybe I didnt break them in enough but my AKG K52, Sony MDR7506 and Audio Technica ATH m40x blow them away. The HD200 are cheap plastic garbage.

      The m40x are one of the most honest headphones in the price range. It’s rare that I am completely disappointed with a Sennheiser product, many are even excellent, but the HD200 are one of those times I recommend looking elsewhere... (Break-in wasn't the issue...lol)
