You should talk about the horrors that occurred in factories during the industrial revolution and how it was a turning point in the concept of work-life balance, eventually leading to the current toxicity of grind culture, which has been normalized
The industrial revolution is apparently where the “8 hours of sleep per night” schedule came from too! And how much the sleep industry is worth due to humans not really meant to sleep that way apparently. I’m probably getting some of this wrong but that would all be an interesting topic for Bailey.
Reading the FLSA of 1938 and comparing it to how we regard (or disregard) minimum wage and child labor today is enough to make you want to pull your hair out. Only the top tier can afford to protect their children from this government.

I seriously wish history teachers put forth even 10% of the effort you put into these videos. I have learned and retained more information during this series then i ever have in a history class
It's because a specific curriculum is forced on teachers and children. They're not allowed to teach the truth. School is structured to indoctrinate and teach us to obey authority, sit still for 8 hours 5 days a week and not talk back. Even the teachers hands are tied.
So as a recovering addict I didn't know if I could sit thru this video. It has been 2 amd 1/2 years now . Absolutely enjoyed and no triggers thru this video. Love ur videos
TOPIC SUGGESTIONS: The Diné (Navajo) children being taken from their families and forced into US Gov't boarding schools where they were not allowed to speak their native language, live their culture, or see their families (this was happening until only about 50 years ago); and the Japanese internment camps run by the US during World War II. They are both along the same lines of some sad, dark history of the US. How does that saying go: what we don't learn from history we are doomed to repeat. I think that especially applies to the bad choices! Loving these podcasts so much! ♥ Keep up the awesome work!
I love how you’re using your platform to bring awareness to these issues. This and the birth control episode alone really shows how corrupt our system is and there’s something about the way you deliver information that I feel will reach those who may be blind to it.
And while she makes it extremely entertaining, fun and interesting, a boatload of research, planning and prep goes into every one of her episodes. Thank you, Bailey. You ROCK!
My house came from a Sears catalog. It’s about 90 years old. Back then you ordered your house kit and they shipped everything you needed to build your house. Including an instruction manual 😅

Do you know that when you go to rehab, they tell you, "You probably won't stay sober this time, it usually takes 3-4 revisits before you can stay sober"? That's because they want you to come back. How else are they going to continue making money? I've been clean over 20 years, and it pi**es me off every time I hear this from a newbie fresh out of rehab. Rehab only works if they are truly ready. If rehab's were free for everybody, I would be more inclined to support them. I never went to rehab, so am proof you can do it if you WANT to.
I was addicted to Adderall for 2 years. I never went to rehab. I went to church (even tho in an atheist) they actually helped me and even let me stay in a guest house where i stayed until i felt i was fine to leave
I have overcome addiction to methamphetamine, OxyContin, and Fentanyl. The latter 2 were prescribed by doctors. I never went to treatment and quit all 3 cold turkey (I Do Not Recommend This Method For Anyone Else) at different times. It’s true that when you’re ready you will give it up. Sometimes a minute at a time. But you are worth it!!!
Since you've already done a video on the DuPont chemical poisoning, I figure you've scratched the surface. It'd be really cool if you dedicated a whole dark history video to the DuPont family. That hole is deep and dark. They have so much power and influence to this day.
@@vannahray9773 that was a specific event. I'm talking about the family as a whole. It goes so far beyond P&G. They're some of the oldest money in the USA and the cover-ups are endless.
I've thought about this, having her covering these sneaky families. The DuPonts, the Murdaughs, the Clinton's, etc. I just don't want her to get so deep in revealing truths that she magically unalives herself with 2 bullets to the back of the head. You know what I mean? Lol. People who dig that deep have a habit of dropping like flies. 😬
You should do the history of redlining in real estate and how it still affects minorities and low-income areas today. I grew up in a white, Christian, Conservative home and my family never talked about anything like this, I feel like people who grew up with the same background would benefit from knowing how that all works, it changed my perspective on a lot of things for sure.
Phil Drescher (Bob the Tomato from Veggie Tales) had a great series on this topic..(for the sensitive people)...but Bailey would definitely give that information the umph in needs for the not so sensitive.
I just want to give you kudos for making such an up front honest comment like this & showing that it is important for all of us to learn all sides of things 💜 As a minority, I was not even aware of this real estate redlining that you mention so you’re educating me as well. Much love to you
Yes! That would be a great topic to learn about… I don’t know that much about it myself. Just the basics. I’d love an in-depth video about it. Especially from Bailey:)💖
But during redlining there was legislation passed in order for minorities to obtain loans and to buy houses. It was then banned in the late 60s as it was a very awful policy.

We vote these people into office. What this says to be is we need to be more informed about the people we vote into office. We do background checks on people we hire for our businesses. All the more careful of those we put in office.
I'm from New Zealand, born in 1965 .It's the same here,it never sinecers to amaze me how the government does not tell the truth, and how quick people forget. Our media never holds them accountable.

Hello Bailey! I’d love to hear a dark history in the overthrow of Hawaii. There’s so much dark dark history that comes with how the United States forced the queen to give up her sovereign nation. And how native Hawaiians the culture and race were being pushed to extinction. This has been a problem for so long and people mainly see the state as a vacay hot spot, they’re desecrating scared lands, and tourists mysteriously die or go missing when they cross sacred grounds. There’s sacred waterfalls that were used for sacrifices where mysterious deaths happen in them as well. I hope you see this Bailey!! 🖤🖤
Yes! I just learned from another account that Hawaii isn’t really state (or at least didn’t want to be) and should really be it’s own nation. Crazy bc that’s so not what we learned in school.
Man no one can make history as enjoyable as she can and I thought I loved history before. Man if she keeps going she will be my go to so that I can double check what I've been taught. She would make a great classroom history teacher
PLEASE DO CANNABIS NEXT!!!! There was also a racial and sexist aspect in the prohibition of cannabis as well. That's actually why they started actively calling it "marihuana" to make it sound more "foreign" and it was said that it would make women want to sleep with other women, and black men. There's a lot to unpack on that one, and I'd love to see you tackle it!
I'm a recovering addict but had no issues being triggered. BUT I never liked uppers because they give me anxiety. So maybe this is not a relevant comment. Idk sorry
Lately Bailey has been talking alot about racism and I've noticed she's received alot of dislikes. Something tells me some people don't like hearing the truth.
@Ann Layton talking about history & what Europeans did to brown people isn't scapegoating. It'll be many hundreds of years till brown people are the majority in western countries like the usa or Canada if that even happens. But if it does hopefully brown people will be able to say we built a better future for everyone & won't be so mad at white people for abusing and stripping their rights
@@Raisingwolvesart I think you need to do some research there yourself and stop believing everything you hear. And this is 2021, if you’re mad at white peoples then that’s a you problem. The govt and the individual, meaning yourself, are the only people trying to keep racism alive. You need to use your head and not your feelings, look at what’s right and wrong instead of what you hear.
I had friend addicted to coke. She told me to never try it, that it ruined her life. It started out small and then she needed it constantly, it was all she thought about and it helped her keep her demons at bay. She passed away shortly after. I still haven't tried coke and I don't think I ever will. How could I possibly enjoy it?
In the parking lot of Popeyes and just saw someone wearing your dark history shirt. I screamed at the top of my lungs. Scaring my little sister, cause I was so happy to find another bailey sarian lover.
It boggles my mind the amount of money the US spends to incarcerate addicts when rehabilitation and education is cheaper and would save so much money in the long run. Nevermind all the children that are abused and neglected due to addicted parents.
And we can add in the for-profit prisons into the equation to muck up anything else potentially worthwhile. Those companies have the ears of Congress-just like the NRA and they’re certainly not about to let a little thing like research-based efficacy get in the way of their profits.
This is exactly why I get down with Bailey. I opened this video wondering if she was going to talk about all the BS surrounding both substances (or substance really) and I was not disappointed. Now we just gotta dig deep into the Tuskegee Study.
I could have SWORN she covered that somewhere along the line, but I can't find it. Not sure if I dreamed that, but would love to see it added to the Dark History lineup.
Talk to almost any old crew person who has been working in LA since the 70s, and they have stories of the coke table next to craftie that anyone could just go take a bump/line if they got too tired. It's wild.

the lack of rehabilitation in america is sad. prisoners not serving a life sentence will eventually be reintroduced into society, they need to have the proper resources to do so successfully
@@jennamicieli2931 we’re *already* paying for it lol. the average charge for taxpayers per prisoner is $33,000 (higher depending on the state), so might as well make our taxes worthwhile. federal prisons alone cost $5.8 billion annually, and that’s not including state prisons. the money is there. if our tax dollars are funding them, they should use it more resourcefully.

Wondering if this Canadian dark History would be a story you’d be interested in doing? There were 150,000 first nation’s, Inuit and Métis children that attended 139 residential schools in Canada. In the last few months over 5,000 children’s bodies have been discovered. Probably thousands more left to be found. The last school in Canada didn’t close until 1996.
I’m over here in Italy and I’ve heard about this story! It’s nuts! Poor kids. I also red a lot about how some indigenous kids were stripped from their families and readopted. Poor little ones.. Edit grammar
Same thing in the US, they had "boarding schools" and made the kids change their name, learn Christianity, and couldn't speak their native languages.

💯 thats real.
I teach American History in Middle School and my lessons are definitely flowing with a Bailey Sarian vibe lately and it is awesome. Very engaging!
It's because a specific curriculum is forced on teachers and children. They're not allowed to teach the truth. School is structured to indoctrinate and teach us to obey authority, sit still for 8 hours 5 days a week and not talk back. Even the teachers hands are tied.
But I do agree, her energy is very engaging and authentic.
I used to think I hated history. Turns out I just hated school and their version of history.
I love it here, getting a dose of Bailey twice a week is a real treat.

The DuPonts, the Murdaughs, the Clinton's, etc. I just don't want her to get so deep in revealing truths that she magically unalives herself with 2 bullets to the back of the head.

Yes! That would be a great topic to learn about… I don’t know that much about it myself. Just the basics. I’d love an in-depth video about it. Especially from Bailey:)💖

Would love to see this. Great suggestion!
Oh wow I'd love to see that my husband and his family is native Hawaiian so this would be very interesting
I would love an episode about this, it sounds very interesting. Hope she will do it! 🖤
Yes Yes Yes...I know nothing about this!!!
Yes! I just learned from another account that Hawaii isn’t really state (or at least didn’t want to be) and should really be it’s own nation. Crazy bc that’s so not what we learned in school.

free healthcare and rehab?? we can’t do that, this is AMERICUH
It's definitely institutionalized racism and just slavery for the "now times".
And we can add in the for-profit prisons into the equation to muck up anything else potentially worthwhile.
Those companies have the ears of Congress-just like the NRA and they’re certainly not about to let a little thing like research-based efficacy get in the way of their profits.
