The amazing thing about Sopranos is that the story is actually pretty mundane compared to shows like Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones but you’re still just as, if not more, captivated. It really is a day in the life show without a driving storyline. It’s character-based story telling at its finest

Bro thats me! I watched The Sopranos when it originally aired on HBO. Then I slowly bought all the DVDs and watched them all the way through 2-3x a year. Now with HBO Max Ive seen it all the way through so many times. I try to watch other shows but my standards are too high and I cant truly enjoy anything like The Sopranos. Its like a comedy filled with the best acting youve ever seen. Gandolfini and Falco just cant be topped. Then throw in guys like Paulie Walnuts, Silvio, Ralphie, Uncle Jr...just nonstop funny lines. Michael Imperioli as Christopher could be its own show entirely. Even the family scenes with Meadow and Anthony..it seems so real and warm and you watch them grow up. Greatest show ever.
You can tell he’s a real soprano fan. Once you rewatch this show and rewatch clips on TH-cam over and over you’ll realize this is the GREATEST show and it’s not even close. The attention to detail and development of the characters is just perfect. I love breaking bad, I’ve seen it so many times too, but sopranos just feels like such a bigger world. It’s a much longer show and feels grander in scale and the subplots throughout sopranos are just brilliant it’s just the best and FUNNIEST show ever that gets funnier and funnier on rewatches and it’s just mind blowing

I introduced my boyfriend to the sopranos and now he’s obsessed with it too! We almost exclusively watch that show when we’re together. It DOES get better every time I watch it. Absolute BRILLIANCE! Edie Falco’s performance is just incredible. And James Gandolfini, I mean, what can I say?…just…perfection!

I feel like Joe didn’t really watch the Sopranos or doesn’t like it as much as he lets on. It’s just because it’s so popular he goes along with it. Because he doesn’t really know much about it. Agree that it’s the greatest show of all time. Miss the crew, the mundane funny conversations in the back of the strip club. Felt like you knew all of em. Nothing beats it. However, breaking bad gives it a serious run for its money. Especially the seasons with Gus fring. Peak television acting, drama. That show did the anti hero angle perfectly with even more twists. However, it still got its inspiration from the sopranos
To me, having grown up with people like that, it just showed how easily that life is avoided. How transparent those people are. The characters were SPOT ON. I felt like I had known them all.

No. The whole point is about Tony struggling to balance being the head of 2 families. His real Soprano family and his mafioso Soprano family. It highlights the struggles of both and how the effect each other, especially regarding his mother, uncle, and sister..who happen to effect both sides of Tonys life.

The Sopranos only had to rely on the ridiculously realistic character dialogue and insanely talented acting to pull together the greatest work of American motion pictures art of all time.

Oz was HBOs first gritty series where the audience rooted for multiple bad guys... something the sioranos often gets credit for. It's as funny as any show ever, and there are so many little details that I pick up on with each new rewatch. My criticisms for the show are ALL for season 1. S1 still has greatness, but it's too campy. The show finds its footing in s2, and it just keeps getting better.

He needs to watch the Alex Gibney documentary that’s on HBO about David Chase and how he wrote and got The Sopranos produced and turned it from what was originally planned as a movie into a series.
So the season after Livia's death was supposed to be Tony on trial and Livia testifying. I've read some comments saying they literally could have just cut that whole scene out, they were really just trying to close up any and all plot holes that would raise questions in the next season. I believe Tony (in the one-sided conversation) mentions stuff about the stolen tickets (which would have led to a RICO trial or something in the following season) and they basically had to nip that plotpoint in the bud. If they just went "Oh no, Livia's dead" with no closure to Livia being a prospective witness against Tony, audiences would've been like "the ticket case, whatever happened there"
We would have sopranos night on Sundays, cook some crazy Italian pasta dish and stuff our faces and just watch in awe of how great this show was. From hysterically funny at times, to cold hearted brutality at times. Just phenomenal!🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌
I've probably watched it all the way through at least 15 times, I loved Breaking Bad, The Wire and GOT and have never rewatched any of them more than once. That's how good the Sopranos was compared to everything else.

He needs to watch the Alex Gibney documentary that’s on HBO about David Chase and how he wrote and got The Sopranos produced and turned it from what was originally planned as a movie into a series.
So the season after Livia's death was supposed to be Tony on trial and Livia testifying. I've read some comments saying they literally could have just cut that whole scene out, they were really just trying to close up any and all plot holes that would raise questions in the next season. I believe Tony (in the one-sided conversation) mentions stuff about the stolen tickets (which would have led to a RICO trial or something in the following season) and they basically had to nip that plotpoint in the bud.
If they just went "Oh no, Livia's dead" with no closure to Livia being a prospective witness against Tony, audiences would've been like "the ticket case, whatever happened there"

We would have sopranos night on Sundays, cook some crazy Italian pasta dish and stuff our faces and just watch in awe of how great this show was. From hysterically funny at times, to cold hearted brutality at times. Just phenomenal!🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌
I've probably watched it all the way through at least 15 times, I loved Breaking Bad, The Wire and GOT and have never rewatched any of them more than once. That's how good the Sopranos was compared to everything else.
