  • IndiGraph is a unique fountain pen with a built-in humidifier that keeps the nib damp so that ink does not dry. It can use India ink because of that.

      So get a cheap Platinum Carbon deskpen (about $15 if I remember correctly) and Platinum Carbon black ink instead. Or some of the other Platinums adjusted to work with the Carbon ink. There is also Pelikan Fount India inkyou can use, and Sailors with nano-particles - works in fountainpens.

    Looks like it uses a #5 Jowo arrow nib and housing, so you could probably find more varied nib sizes looking for those. Should work with other regular-style #5 size nibs as well, as the kickstarter says the EF comes in the "classic" nib shape.

      You can get the Duke fountain pens on eBay for very affordable price. Recently I reviewed a brand Moonman which is also affordable. Anyway, in the long run , fountain pens are more economical because bottled inks can last you for a year and more. For rollerball, try Uniball Eye, Uniball Vision, Uniball Air

      Thank you for the reply. I will look into using eBay. Presently using a ZIG Memory System Millennium 03. It works well on smooth sketch paper if I draw slowly, but occasionally I have skipping issues on 140# NOT watercolor paper. Twice now the ink has run when watercolor was applied (probably painted too quickly). I still enjoy watching your videos because I think I learn something each time I watch.

      Or I guess I can sacrifice the nib section that comes with it and retrofit it with one of my many disposable flexible dip pen nibs like a Nikko or Titanium Zebra G.

    from the looks of it, it's a regular fountain pen, with water in the cap, using standard jowo nibs.
    for the price, it's pretty much average. but why use India ink, when you can just buy normal fountain pen ink? seems pretty gimmicky, consider the fact that it's still pretty much just a regular fountain pen, give it a few months of use with india ink and lets check back then.

    • @MattiasWirf
      @MattiasWirf 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      "Normal" fountain pen ink is not water or light proof. Maybe not an issue when taking notes, but when you are an artist drawing with the pen it becomes important ;)

    • @BloodSprite-tan
      @BloodSprite-tan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's only a problem if you're creating physical only media. and if you are expecting to make something that will last a long time, there are specifically archival quality fountain pen inks. like Platinum Carbon Black or De Atramentis Archive Ink or Rohrer & Klingner Salix
      all of the inks have to be waterproof anyways, or you'd have to put them on after doing the water colors. which would be a hassle...
      of course none of this is an issue if you just scan your art, and use it for prints.

    • @MattiasWirf
      @MattiasWirf 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@BloodSprite-tan I know, but I was trying to answer your question on why to buy India ink instad of Fountain pen ink.
      I would count Platinum Carbon black and Pelikan Fount India as India inks (those are the two I use, have not tried the others). Platinum even creates quite cheap pen with the feed specifically adjusted to the Carbon ink. And there are so many other options - like technical pens, brush pens, fineliners - which handles drawing ink. So I probably will keep on using all the options I already have.

    • @BloodSprite-tan
      @BloodSprite-tan 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well it depends on the ink, a lot of the time, you'd want waterproof, but i've seen plenty of either, ink on paper alone, or ink that has been mixed for water to make a grey scale tone.
      if you're using india ink specifically, why use fountain pens? is my point, there is either hybrid dip pens which like desiderata pens or just dip pens, sure fountain pens are better for travel, but i feel like if you're doing that, you could just like use a brush pen, or fine liners.
      the design of this pen is questionable, i personally would have preferred and eyedropper with Ebonite feed and nib.
      at most that's 5 parts.
      1. nib 2. feed 3.cap 4. section 5. body
      for this pen it's like twice as complicated. it'll be a fun time to clean.

    • @BloodSprite-tan
      @BloodSprite-tan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      to be clear if you had a tiny piece of felt and stuck it in a fountain pen that has a decent cap, you could use it with india ink, this pen is pretty expensive, but much cheaper pens that can do the same thing.
      not that india ink is much better than high quality fountain pen ink.
