- In evo’s second tribute to Best Motoring, the team race four generations of Renault hot hatches at the Rockingham Circuit.
Jethro drives a 1985 5 GT Turbo, Le Mans winner Andy Wallace has a 1992 Clio Cup, Sebring winner Marino Franchitti competes with a 2000 Clio Cup and Dickie Meaden races the latest Clio Cup. Expect tyre smoke, turbo smoke, worn rubber and lots of excuses - but which car claims the overall victory?

The sound of that 92 Clio is just fantastic, might be the best 4 cylinder engine sound

It was a good soundbut not rs1600/1800 BDA/G, B18c, B16 levels.

Literally laughing out loud at this, was very entertaining to watch. You could replace the massive void left by best motoring and as others have said you could do a whole series of these including second hand cars with less than 150/200/300 hp etc. Too many car channels obsessed with newest and fastest, vast majority cannot afford those cars. We want attainable metal!
Renault hatches three wheeling! This was a godly thing to watch. My love has to go with the GT Turbo, but those MK2 Clios are awesome.
I'd love to see a late 80s/early 90s hot hatch track battle.
Fiat Uno Turbo, a Fiesta RS Turbo, 205 GTi 1.9, Honda CR-X SiR, Phase 2 Renault 5 GT Turbo, and a mk2 Golf GTi
and fiat ritmo abarth 125 or 130TC

Probably the 5 if driven wwll the lightest car there.
@@fatwalletboy2 Yeah, could be. The Uno turbo cant be far off the R5 GT Turbo either but I guess you might get a few different results depending on the circuit.

The early 2000's Clio Cups were the bomb. The new ones just aren't the same.

ha ha great video. I remember when I was younger and the 5 Turbo was the car everybody wanted, a bullet. Amazing to see it so slow here, just shows you how far cars have come

Got to hand it to that mk1 16v Clio - no turbo, 5 speed manual transmission, no abs, no traction control. What a car!

As far as the next session goes, McLarens would be neat, yeah, but maybe something more easily doable? I like the 'through the generations' concept, though.
BMW M-cars could be cool. E30, E36, E46, etc. Miatas/MX-5's could be cool. GT-R's maybe? R32, R33, R34, GT-R, though possibly the performance differences there aren't as balanced. 911s?

it is trackers competition cars made in Renault Sport from Renault market sport cars Hot Hatches. It doesn't exist for Ford such official trackers race's version...
In the 80s i saw a R 5 Turbo cup at Nürburgring that was awsome . I was 10 years old this time .

I had a GTT in 1994 as a 24 year old boy! Loved it. You just can't beat a small fast car! I now have a 9 year old Fiesta ST with just over 20,000 on the clock. May sell soon for something small and turbo...

Very entertaining....I had a 5GT Turbo...Wow! Nice show. Everybody is throwing out all the cars they wanna see race which is nice. But I like the fact that these are/were affordable cars (Hot Hatches) That's what made me watch it anyway. More hot hatches please, any makes. Thanx for the video EVO.

A solution to sand-bagging in qualifying could be to qualify each other's cars.
Do a race with all the different STi models!! Like the 01-02, 03-05, 06-07, etc..
Perhaps one for a winters day - Audi RS2, B5 RS4, B7 RS4, B8 RS4. All are 4wd estates and have a variety of engine configurations. Keep up the good work, these episodes are great fun to watch.

Loved it! I grew up with fast renaults and in the Clio they are a perfect cheap entry into sprints and hillclimbs

Compare that 2015 Clio next to the 98-06 shape and its amazing to see how much bigger the current car is. It almost looks like a car from the class above. You could barely class it as a small car anymore. My personal favorite Clio is the Williams with the 150bhp 2.0 engine.

+Renaissance Man Man that would be amazing, absolutely love Keiichi and bought as many Best Motoring and Hot Version videos and DVDs I can get my hands on from Japan back in the day, still own many of them. Even though I didn't understand their commentary, the fact that they were having a blast on track made it so enjoyable to watch.
