    I watched somebody tow a trailer in and saw someone else drive a freaking Saturn in. I was losing my mind, these guys spent every weekend out there when they were younger and they know the trail in like the back of their hand but I'm still baffled.

    Liked " Kawabunga" exclamation from your son, obviously having a blast jeeping with dad 😀

      It was a fun trip and a great place. Nothing like the outdoors to keep a kid entertained - and away from the screens.

    Amazing video! I’m looking to do more camping this year as well as get into wild backpacking. Going to do some of the smaller trails around San Diego before heading out to valley of the moons just want to see and get your opinion if you think that spending the night/setting up camp for overnight stay inside smugglers rock could be possible and or safe. If you can please get back to me I would appreciate

      Thanks Rodrigo! I've heard mention of people staying there, don't know if it's permitted. Seems like it would be safe, but you'd want to assess once you got there. I'd bring camping gear in case you decide to camp in the open.

    That looks awesome! Do you think a 4x4 silverado with KO2s could do it?

      Should be fine. Just take it slow.

    It's actually 50min. To 1hr to get there.. and that's from far downtown San Diego. With a trailer it may be 1hr + 10min at most

      Takes me about an hour and 30 to get all the way into the valley. But good clarification that it takes around 50 minutes to the trailhead.

    Awesome video, i have a stock 2006 z71 4x4 suburban, you think i can make it there?

    • @Outdoorsocal
      @Outdoorsocal  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I tool my stock Rubicon in with no proble. You should be fine as far as traction goes, but not sure about clearance. If you pick a careful line, you might be able to swing it.

    That same camp spot used to have a heavy metal fire pit in it where you have your firem. I wonder whatever happened to it.

    Can I take my dirt bike out there? Looks like it has great technical trails. Just moved to SD, so I don't know the trail scene as well.

      Honestly, I'm not sure. It may need to be a street legal bike - I've never seen a motorcycle out there.

    How long hike is it from the trail head to where you guys camped?

    • @Outdoorsocal
      @Outdoorsocal  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Dave. It's around two and a half miles along the trail.

  • @eriknielsen138

    Where does the trail head start

    • @Outdoorsocal
      @Outdoorsocal  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's right off the I8 the exit for Desert Tower. The kiosk is on the opposite side of the Interstate from desert tower and right at the exit.

    will a subaru outback be able to do this trip?

    • @Outdoorsocal
      @Outdoorsocal  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen Outbacks near the top of the first hill from the trailhead, but you wouldn't be able to go beyond that.
