One of the highest falls is what we called Mildred Falls when I was a rescue pilot for the Sheriff's Dept. "ASTREA" unit. It's at the head waters of the El Capitan reservoir. It's seasonal but beautiful site in winter.
You all prolly dont give a damn but does anybody know a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow forgot the login password. I love any help you can offer me!
If you have small kids, Green Valley Falls is a great little watering hole, and a short hike (.4 miles). It is also seasonal. Three Sisters was dry in June, and someone had been life flighted the day before we went out. Bring plenty of water.
Three Sisters is really hit or miss, depending on the winter and time of year. Yet, it’s popularity will always live on. ;) Green Valley is a great hike and very family friendly!
To get to the spectacular portion of the Kitchen Creek Falls you need to go about 50 feet south from the top of the falls to a chute. Drop about 200 feet down the chute to the stream and cross it. Then walk upstream to a spectacular view of this cascade. You need a very wet year for the full effect.
Mildred Falls is my favorite. Dry most of the year, but awesome after rains. No trail to the fall itself, but viewable at a distance from the eastern trail to Cedar Creek Falls (ie from Julian side). Also fully viewable (with binoculars) from the summit of El Cajon Mountain.
I like Green Valley, great spot. Problem was for about two years it was closed; other more practical problem is that depending on the year, there will be no or limited flow. There's also great seasonal falls that are semi-hidden in Harper's Creek too near that spot.
@@johnwhitney366 it's not really a hike to get to the falls. You walk down a trail and you get to the falls like in 2 minutes. But there is a hike right next to it I've just never followed it.
There is a nice waterfall on the aqueduct that feeds lake Wohlford. Right by a small trailer court on Indian land. About 30 feet tall and runs year round.
August in San Diego is really tough for rivers, seasonal streams, and waterfalls. This year (2021) is a drought year, and from my understanding, none of the falls are flowing currently. There is water at the Old Mission Dam - but that is only because the river flows through there.
My young neighbor died in the devils punch bowl. Be careful. We almost got heat stroke climbing out of there but it was our fault. Do not hike on a heat advisory day. Many dogs die at cedar creek. Caution.
Thanks for the PSA! If you've seen any of the other videos I make, including my CCF video, I always warn people of the risks of hiking in heat, among other things. At the time of your comment - August - it is not a good time to do many of these hikes in SD as there is no water in these falls and it is dangerously hot. Good looking out for people!
Probably Three Sisters, having said that, if there's no water in any of these, there's no swimming - which is a real risk depending on the year and time of year.
Those are all Great Falls and bring back a lot of great memories. Green Valley Falls is definitely an area I have enjoyed since I was a young child I am 43 now and am now showing my kids places I used to hang out
I have a question for you. I lived in San Diego as a kid. Moved to Virginia in 1994. When I was about age 7 to 9 I used to hike to a waterfall near my old elementary school. I just recently visited San Diego for the first time in years but couldn't find any online info about a waterfall near my old school. I remember it had some old indian paintings on some rocks and a spot where there was holes in the ground from Indians milling corn. The water flow was a small stream that had carved out rock and ran down in a small gorge until it came out to the waterfall. It prob wasn't very big but can't really say sense I was so small. I went to Westwood elementary school in rancho Bernardo San Diego. If you have any ideas on what I'm talking about I would be grateful. Thanks and appreciate the video good work!!
Buena Vista Falls is extremely easy to find, and visible from a shopping center off the 78, in Oceanside. Unfortunately, there is no good way to appreciate it because it is an urban location.
Carlsbad has two serious waterfalls... Between between the awkwardly stupid LAW called attractive nuisance law. which allows anyone with a beautiful waterfall or something like that .to be sued like crazy. By any trespasser are idiot that screws them self up there.!!!so with that said Bank of whatever doesn't know what the hell to do with ( box canyon) right below sewage water treatment plant...We used to swim and jump there for years no one ever got sick... Neighboring City of Oceanside. Has no idea what to do with their own waterfall. Next to Walmart that was a sacred Indian site... So the thing about this nuisance law. or sequestering any of these things off. Is it becomes a place for lawbreakers to go... And they trash it out

Will be hiking to the 3 Sisters Waterfall this coming Saturday 🔥
Great job on the video! I like three sisters the best, and I can confirm that Cedar Creek is dry during the wrong time of year haha

Correct, its definitely a rare phenomena. ;)
I love the Horsethief canyon hike . I have done the others but that is my favorite by far.
Agreed, great spot! Thanks for watching

How isn’t Box Canyon on this list? It’s famous.
There's one by the Sweetwater dam on the quarry trail its beautiful and hidden
Nice, I'll have to check it out!

Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the info. Love them all.
Awesome!
Green valley falls in cuyamaca has a small section of waterfalls and pools. Water was running pretty good last month. 👍

Hey thanks I’m looking for a hike and might go to this one

3:25 cedar creek falls

Would love to see the name of the place on the screen
Which are the best for a swim?
Probably Three Sisters, having said that, if there's no water in any of these, there's no swimming - which is a real risk depending on the year and time of year.
hi,, it's summer!!can you make a video about the best campground in San diego county? thanks!👍
That's a tough one - so many to choose from - do you mean best beach, best mountain, desert? :P
Those are all Great Falls and bring back a lot of great memories. Green Valley Falls is definitely an area I have enjoyed since I was a young child I am 43 now and am now showing my kids places I used to hang out
Green Valley Falls is a great spot, love the trail that connects in from Descanso!
What is the waterfall at 0:21??
Skogafoss, Iceland (Not San Diego). :) Thanks for watching!

Last time I was there was around 1994
Not sure, but it sounds like a great spot, let me know if you find out!
@@TheLastAdventurer will do thanks for the response!!
Does they have water doing the summer?
Unfortunately, not generally :(
Dude, a permit now for Cedar Creek falls? I used to get there via Eagle Peak Rd, is that still the way in?
Sad but true my friend! It's been in place for a long time now!
I’m sorry I go to mission trails and I have never seen that waterfall?!? How and where?!
Which one? The one at Mission Dam?
Green Valley Park.
where can I find Eastern Cedar tree in San Diego?
Which is that waterfall that is shown in the beginning of the video?!
That would be Three Sisters Falls. Warning! It does not look like that during the summer months :)
Mildred Fall is
👍🏼👍🏼❤️❤️❤️
Cedar Creek isn't the tallest waterfall in San Diego County
mission trail
Yep, the falls in Oak Canyon are featured :)
You do not need a permit to hike the trail like he said. You only need a permit if you are going to the falls.
Dam what was the waterfall that was in the beginning? The one not found in San diego
That's Skogafoss, right outside the town of Skogar in Iceland. Supposedly there is a treasure behind the waterfall ;)

San Diego is NOT a desert my guy
Sorry to say that much of the county is, and with the effects of climate change...yep. 😉
Depends. If you are talking about San Diego city, then no. It is coastal. But, past the mountains you get some desert. San Diego county is big.

Definitely a lot of lesser known spots in the County, thanks for sharing!
