      Well don’t follow him when he says to push the gas pedal in while you shift it. Because that’s something anyone that’s been driving stick should now. Specially if your teaching someone to drive a stick you tell them to let off the gas pedal every time you shift. There’s no need to push the gas pedal in when shifting. It’s actually bad for the clutch when it reengages because it needs to match the now LOWER RPMS (which is what he means when we says to make the shift smoother) but as a beginner you shouldn’t be touching that gas pedal anytime you push that clutch pedal in SO REMEMBER THAT

    I've learned how to drive stick before, but it's a perishable skill. This weekend, I may be going down to Tucson, AZ to buy a 2005 Jeep TJ Rubicon for $1900. The catch is it's a manual, and I live in Peoria, AZ, so it's a 2 hour drive. This video really broke it down easy, and I think I should be able to get it home safely 😊 thank you for the super helpful video!

    What I did when I first started driving stick in my tj is give it a little "bwen bwen" as I like to call it when i give it gas. Basically feathering the gas just a tiny bit until it takes off. Then I got use to giving it a little gas and easing off the clutch. Everyone develops their own way. It's very tiny differences that people develop when they drive stick.

    Haha thanks for the video.. refreshed my memory from being a teenager. I've never owned a manual transmission car (mainly cause I've been driving an automatic Tacoma for about 17 years), so I haven't touched a manual since I was in the seat of a Ranger back in Driver's Ed in high school. Fast forward to present day and I'm wanting to get a Wrangler and trying to decide between Manual or Auto. I'm still not sure yet but I'm at least willing to entertain the idea of a manual ;)

    I learned to drive manual on a 1986 Mitsubishi ram 50. That clutch engages almost immediately when you begin to release it.
    I am about to get a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with a 6 speed. I test drove this and learned the hard way that that clutch engages at the very top. That’s gonna take some time to get used to. Any advice for how to get better at this? I live in very hilly West Virginia btw.

    So im 15 years old and my dream car is a 2 door hard top jeep, ive learned how to drive on an 2008 automatic nissan Altima so of course the thought to manual is very scary, and it seems like its hard to get used to. But ive got a couple of questions, when in first gear how fast are you able to go? And second, and so on? Thats what confuses me. Also, why must you put it into neutral to stop? Why can you just stop by putting your foot on the break? If you are in 4th gear, and you are slowing to a stop, must you put it into all the other gears before that or can i just skip to neautral? And how do you put it into park?

    • @KyleSVT
      @KyleSVT  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      driving manual seems very difficult at first but once you have it down its very simple. As far as how fast you can go in each gear you usually just shift when u get to a certain engine rpm. but it depends on how fast you want to accelerate. If you want to accelerate faster you shift at higher rpms but if you are just cruising around you shift sooner it all depends and once you start driving stick this will make way more sense. you must either push the clutch in while coming to a stop or put it in neutral and use the brake. you can put the transmission in to neutral from any gear you dont have to go through all the gears. There is no park with a manual. You turn the car off and put on the handbrake and or leave the gear stick in 1st gear to keep the car from going anywhere.
