For some strange reason, one i cant explain for the life of me. This song brings me a great feeling of melancholy...the type you feel when you feel the summer heat start to slip away as autumn rolls in. It reminds me of the leaves turning crisp and orange and falling from trees, with a gentle breeze that catches you by surprise.

Don't understand how this band is not really popular. I just listened to like 10 of their songs and loved every single one of them. Crime is an especially good song. This band has become one of my favorites in a matter of an hour.

This song forever touches me, and gives me much-beloved nostalgia.
Nothing gives me an existential crisis like this song.
The first verse is about how the person feels like they're not in control of their life and it's making them feel some kind of sadness and unease. They try telling this to their loved one, but they won't listen and brush him off which is why the singer is telling them it's real so they'll take him seriously.
And then the second verse is about all the life experiences he's had interacting with nature and the world around him, basically saying "I've done and remember all these things, therefore it has to have really happened and be real." Kind of like I think therefore I am.
The whole song is like he has to keep repeating "It's real" to pick himself up and convince himself that life isn't some illusion. Whenever I listen to it it makes me wonder how this huge universe exists at all and if we really do have free will, or if someone/something else is "behind the wheel." Truly tons of masterful and thought-provoking meaning in such a few amount of words

This album is absolutely perfect.
As I interpreted it, the song is about reminiscing. In the video, the band looks back at nostalgic events, the lyrics themselves describe moments that are otherwise pure, beautiful and innocent and are just overflowing with nostalgia. "I carved our names into a tree" for example, is about that corny, childish habit of carving you and your loves names in to a tree, surrounded by a heart.
