Great projects here, Barbara! I'm pretty sure that you can give your paper a good crisp fold, and position your die so the fold is not cut. I can cut 2 layers of card stock with my sizzix and the thinner dies like you showed at the first. I love the idea of cutting them that way, and surely will be cutting some right away for a journal I'm gifting to my niece! Thank you for this lovely presentation! Hugs!
I had the same thought, Peggy 👍🏻👍🏻 How gorgeous ideas Barbara 🤩🤩🤩 The 🦋 are stunning and the tiny tags are soooo cute and my favorites 😍😍 I haven’t a Big Shot or something else and I have no intention to buy one (a space reasons) but I like your video a lot 💝
I also fold my paper over, but the trick for me is that I place the top plate just below the part of the die that would cut the two pieces apart. That way, I don't have to be careful about how far I roll the paper/die through the machine.
Thank you for reminding me about the folded die cuts. I usually fold then cut two together. There’s so much we can do with our machines isn’t there. Tfs. 😘
Thanks for inspiring me to use my die cut machine for my journal. I hadn't thought of that. I love those ticket die cuts. So cute to have them in a strip like that. x Marieke. I look forward to seeing you work in your new journal
Thanks so much for sharing all these ideas and tips with us, they were great. I love bold bright colors and those made from your childrens books are great.
I had one and a few not alot but a few templates and had to leave. Fast do to an abusive relationship so it stayed along with most of my crafts but little by little im collecting what I can!!! Its so much fun and I can get lost in crafting
Thanks for sharing. Love the folded tags but was really wowed by using pictures from books (or mags) to die cut. The tags and coin envelopes were so unique and pretty. New ideas for playtime.
Thanks for showing some ideas ..I just bought a big shot only because it was cheap at the thrift store and was a little stumped as to what I could use it for in my journals..now will have to go buy some dies...🌷
I’ve done this also but I fold the paper first and let the die hang over the folded edge and go all the way through. Love what you do with the tickets. I’m gonna have to try that! Thanks for the show!
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
Good tips. If you don’t have the butterfly die and matching embossing folder (or any die/folder set), you can still get a similar effect by using any embossing folder you have. You can either cut out the shape, then put it inside the folder and run it through, or you can emboss the paper first, then choose what part of the embossing you want to cut from, place your die in that spot, and run it through the machine. There are so many gorgeous embossing folder designs these days, and any of them will really enhance die cut shapes, tags, or pockets.
I don't use my Big shot enough, I love those ticket dies might take a look at those... Loved the children's book tags great fun xx have a fabulous weekend 🌼🌼♥️😘
Couldn't you just fold the paper in half before you die cut it; keeping the very top of the die beyond the fold so that it doesn't cut through the folded edge?
A tip for intricate dies that I learned recently is to use a dryer sheet between the die and paper. Used the ones that have been through the dryer as a new one will be too sticky. It makes an amazing difference in getting the intricate dies out intact.
Love this! Currently, I have to store my die cut contraption up and less out of reach than I'd like, so I don't use it as often as I could. You've inspired me to pull that thing down and just spend time stockpiling and being creative with it. It typically feels like such a utilitarian device, but this makes it more fun.
I'm so happy you posted this video right now! Perfect timing. I just bought the big kick and I'm still learning what to do with it. I love all your ideas. I especially love the butterflies. They are gorgeous! Also I just wanted to say again that I'm in love with those coin envelopes! What a great find that children's fairy tail book was! It has amazing pictures. You are probably just having your morning coffee and I'm just going to bed. LOL. Have a wonderful day Bobsi! Hugs!

What an awesome idea! Love it! I don’t have the Sizzix at the moment. They are awesome tools. Thank you so much for sharing this inspirational video. That is something I would love to add for my craft room in near future ... to learn how to use it. You made it look so easy to teaching me in many awe inspiration videos. I finally had my craft room done. I made my first journal that I will use for as my “correspondence” -- to practice to create many new methods thru video tutorials. You can place your top cut plate so it does not cover the part of the die you do not want to cut. Or as others suggested, fold the paper first and line up the fold just inside the cutting edge of he die.

Great video today! You inspired me in previous videos to purchase a Sizzex and some die cuts on Ali Express so the timing of this video is perfect. (I hope some of the companies you always mention like Tim Holtz, Ali Express and Sizzex will start compensating you for all the business you're sending their way 😉👍). I can't wait for my die cuts to come in to play around with. What are the black backgrounds you're using to organize your die cuts. It's looks like they stick to the pages?

You can put the distress ink onto the folder and emboss and colour at the same time. This way you can either have the background or the image coloured. Don't know how you lived without the diecut tool so long, LOL.

Baby girl, LOOK at me wandering two years into the past. Based on your recommendation, albeit implied, I treated myself to a Big Shot machine and find myself standing here beside myself (which is in and of itself no easy feat) as for where to go from here. I do have a couple embossing folders but no die cuts. Based on this vid it looks like some tag dies would be a good place to start... yes? And what'd be a second wise investment die-wise? Thanks sweetheart, MomK 😘🤗❤🏜
Hey MomK! Oh wow, you really ventured back a long way! 😃. Tag dies great start! I would probably go for butterflies and maybe flower petals for layering next. Enjoy your new treasure! 😃❤️

⚠️⚠️⚠️Also to get a very intricate die to loosen those stubborn bits? Use a dry new sheet! Ok, take the 4 new dryer sheets, lay them on top of each other, fold in half, set it over that intricate die. Now put the plate, die, dryer sheets and plate. Run it through your machine 2 times. While the dryer sheets clinging to the die set your paper on top of them. Roll it twice through your machine. Take off the top plate, lift paper off die. Tap it! Look at the empty bits of paper from the die cut? Amazing, isn’t it?⚠️⚠️⚠️
Hi. If you place the top cutting plate at the point you want to stop it will only cut to that point!

Amazing, isn’t it?⚠️⚠️⚠️
Thanks!
