It is funny, I owned every single Childrens-Book that you have shown in your videos, when I was a child. Now I‘m really sad, that I have given them all away. I really love your journals.
Again a lovely journal and the charms look great on the spine. I am glad you like the charms that I have send you. And my hubby does the same with books and small things he finds in the thriftshop. He found me some great books😊 Hope you can manage with the current heat wave🌞 It is going to be extremely hot here today 40 C 🥴
Is a beauty 😍 with that deep purple spine and the noise of all the charms...I can't wait to see you using it, and I hope that time to time you will shake it a little bit, to hear the dangles 😁 🤗⚘🤗
klaire74 Thank you Klaire! I had to laugh when I read I should shake the book from time to time so you can hear the dangles! 😂😂😂😂 of I don’t forget, I will! 😘❤️
I love this style too. When I made Johanna's no sew binding I also put the charms at the top. It makes the journal sit a little better on my shelf. The book you used is so beautiful!
Wow, animals, yay!!!! So great!!! Removable pages are cool!!! I never did this, buuut maybe for fleamarket donations I could try some, the kids would have the cover and could change the pages! And it is fast and easy! Greeeeat! Hugs angel.
My friend forwarded your video to me as this is what's been holding me back from completing a journal, the binding. Your step by step instructions make it seem so easy and the way to adjust the measurements. Love your stash of book pages of purple florals. I have a hard time finding books in the states that aren't glossy. Thank you for sharing!!💜💜💜
Sally Mander Thank you Sally! I’m so happy this was helpful! I love this way of binding so I can adjust the number of pages any time. Most vintage children’s books are Matt, so that’s great! 😊
Hi Sally! There is a spray you can find at most hobby stores, like Michael's and Hobby Lobby, that will put a clear matte finish on the glossy pages. You can also put a thin layer of matte Mod Podge on the page and it will dry with a less glossy finish.
I`ve just made one with Johanna`s method and I love it so much cos you can add/detract and have so much more flexibility, You get a thumbs up for all of it but mainly for that adorable children`s book cover. So sweet.
Great video! I went to yard sales today hoping to find a book to create one of these with and found the perfect one! Can’t wait to put it together! I’ll tag you when I do!! 😎😍
As usual I absolutely love your journals and your videos. Per your recommendation I have used this method on a JJ and I like it, although I've learned a lot about what NOT to do next time. :-) I had to laugh when you talked about your husband not "getting" what you do, but being thoughtful and bringing you things he thinks you might like. My husband is exactly the same way. Grateful.
JournalJourneys51 haha I guess we can’t blame our husbands 😊. If mine were to be into something like cars I would be lost too! 😂. It’s cute how they try! ❤️
You made this look so easy I may give it a go and try to make one for my oldest kid as he loves to draw and its hard to make him so many journals where I need to sew. And omg your husband is too cute giving you stuff that he found, mine is on the "would you like this packaging" phase
What a great video, Barbara! I've only made one junk journal so far and the binding part is holding me back a bit. I will try this method the next time. Tfs! Really like all your videos. I often watch them when having breakfast (on husband's iPad!)! All the best to you from Ditte in a tropical Sweden!!
Awesome video. It surprised me that you created another journal. It will be interesting to watch what you will do with these twos. One with binding and other without....other wuth a lot pages, and other with fewer pages. I am looking forward to see more of your future videos to see what you will do with them! Hugs from USA Georgia Peach State!
I love the color purple. And the book you used is so beautiful. I look forward to seeing you work in it. I recently purchased a paper pack off of Etsy and am in the process of taking out pages from my latest jj and adding these in. I hadn't actually worked in the journal yet, so it all works out. x Marieke
I love this kind of journal, mine is similar except that I am using elastic cord rather than thread. I think it helps to add pages if you want. I love your choice of covers, they are so cute. It’s going to be a super new journal and I’m looking forward to watching you work with it x
49dragonflies, I’ve not been doing junk journaling for very long so it hasn’t had time to stretch! It’s not a thick journal so maybe I’ll get away with it! Fingers crossed. I going to try the way you are doing yours next as I do like the idea of removing the pages as I tend to use a bit of watercolour on my journal, love doodling! x
Since seeing your videos and Johanna's I have been making these journals too. I prefer the charms at the top because I put my journals on a book shelf, and they get in the way at the bottom. Also I tie my strings first and then slide the signatures in because I find it less fiddly. Thanks for sharing 😃
Craft Owl Makes Thank you! Aren’t these journals just fabulous! You might be right about the charms being less in the way on the top. Interesting thought putting the pages in after tying the thread... ❤️
So thrilled to have made my first no-sew binding junk journal! Thank you again for this wonderful video and inspiration. I had watched the @johannaclough video but your journal inspired me to make my own. Also, my first time using charms - fun! I posted a picture on my Instagram @dggt. The journal has 3 signatures and I even love that the eyelets aren’t absolutely straight (that was difficult). Now I just need to figure out how to use it, hahaha!
Grenae Thompson That’s fantastic!!! So happy you tried it! 👍🏻😃. The charms are real fun. I have over 130 junk journal with me videos for inspiration 😂😂😂. Enjoy your journal! 😘
Love this journal method! I am going to try this on my next journal, thanks for sharing yours and I'm off to watch Johanna's video. I'm a new subscriber to your channel. Judy
I LOOOOVE this! I love how you can add or take away pages throughout the process of working in your journal....I am going to do this for sure!! Thanks for sharing!
This method is easier than I thought. It turned out really pretty😊! I need to try to make one. Looking forward to seeing you journaling in it. Thank you for sharing💗😁!
Hi Barbara, i tried this method of no sew journal because I love the way you did yours. I'm having trouble finding eyelets with the right measurement. Most sellers only indicate the inside with. Could you please tell me what outer with your eyelets have and where you get them. Thank you so much.
What a great idea to have 2 journals 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 so you are ‚free‘ to play with!! I like your new journal a lot 😍😍😍 Do you have an idea to make it if I don‘t have a Crop a dile?? Big hugs 💝
Victoria Fortunato Thanks Victoria! I already love working in 2 at the same time! 😊. If you don’t want to make the holes why don’t you just bind the thread around the spine top to bottom and tie them off either at the top or bottom to add charms of you want.
I wasn't sure at first, but now I think... I'm falling in love 😁 lol... This book binding method is so clever, n when u mentioned I would b able to use my charms & beads collection... 😜🙃🤪 I couldn't b happier! (Now I just have to purchase a Crop-A-Dile or one of those cheap dupes, till...) BTW, do u think organza ribbons r good as binding threads? (I'd like to make some TN's with some fancy shmancy ribbons 🎀 ha-ha-ha...) Take care & lots of love, Liat
Liat A Thanks once again, dear Liat! Definitely a great chance to use your charms! 😊. Yes, I do think organza should work as a fancy shmancy closure! 😂😘
I think I missed something, but I thought you were going to use a different journal? One you were given in some happy mail? Don’t get me wrong, I love this journal with this binding. But I also liked the other one and was curious how you were going to fill it. Because like you said, it has a different style than you would normally go for.
Yes, you can get it on Amazon. They also have bookbinding tape, but that limits the size of spine you can make, so I always buy the sheet of bookbinding cloth. You can also google for bookbinding cloth. There are a lot of places that specialize in bookmaking supplies.
49dragonflies Hi👋🏻 new subscriber and new to junk journaling too! I really love Alison's style, but have no clue who she is -- could you share a link to her channel or shop if she has one? TIA!! Excellent videos, I'm having so much fun watching them!
Paula DeVoy thanks Paula! Sorry about the ad, but that way I at least make a tiny bit of money for all the hours of work I put into each video. Thanks for understanding.
I don’t mind the ads in the beginning, but popping up in the middle was unusual! I do appreciate all the work that goes into your videos and I understand. Thank you for all of the inspiration!

Beate Paul Aaaaw, that’s amazing!! I’m so sorry you have them away! But I did the same! I have bought books at the flea market that I used to have 😩
Great video. I like the flexibility of this journal. Loved your story about your hubby too. Lots of fun.

49dragonflies Thank you for your quick reply!

Lovely!
Love it.
Have you tried this with a soft fabric cover or do you think hard is best? TIA
Hi, I have done a soft cover, but prefer the hard ones at the moment. I think it’s very subjective and anything goes that makes you happy! 😃
👍👍 May i know the dimensions of the cover n the pages
lydia sabina it’s about 6,5 inches wide and 9,5 tall and the spine is 2 3/4 inch wide 😊
