The snow depth there is crazy for this time of year! That is a real good thing for the water table there. So much of the West is in severe drought conditions.

Casey, that was some great wheeling. Going in a group like that insures nobody spends the night freezing. I have been snow running in my buggy but since it is flat on the bottom you are done once you break through the crust. Had a ball doing it with my friends yearrs ago.

Always amazing what four-wheel drive will do in the snow. This reminded me of climbing Mount Graham to go snow fishing south of Tucson. We had to stop every quarter mile to move the snow out of the radiator because the motor was overheating
We used to run county roads in Indiana when we got a decent snow. I was always amazed at how many people we helped out totally unprepared for the weather.

There are few adventures I enjoy more in life than driving through snow in places where either no-one else is around or everyone else is doing the same thing for the fun of it. On the highways it's absolutely terrifying because almost no-one seems to know what they're doing and always overestimate the traction of their SUV and underestimate their stopping distance. Major pet peeve is when people push the accelerator to the floor thinking it will give the wheels a better grip - unless they're doing it just for fun. This is the right kind of addiction to have.
Casey, I have a clean TH400 I bought with a 454 out of a fairly low mile RV. No transfer case though. I haven’t made up my mind to use it in my project. If it’s better fit for you hit me up.
I have a 205 married to a 4 spd manual from my F-250 which got toasted in the Creek Fire in September 2020. It will doubtless need seals and cleaning up, but would let you have it for cost of shipping. That was all I salvaged out of the truck.
Loved it. Used to do a lot of that in the 1970 and 1980s. 1978 Chevy 1 ton. Regular cab. Long box . Winch mounted front and back. Lot of ropes. 2 inch that was warn down from a ski hill. 9 inch suspension lift . 18 by 40 tires
I'm sure in Spring (no snow) and summer that area is beautiful, BUT during winter (with snow), well I'll put it this way, I live in Michigan near the pinky on the mitten, I see way too much already. You can keep that snow.

This was a BLAST!! We currently live up at 9K elevation over here in the Colorado Rocky Mountains! (We ALWAYS get a "May Dump" of snow, but so far,-- no go!) Oh well, we leave for good the end of May! Heading overseas with our pups!! We're gonna miss the snow up here, but we'll have to live vicariously through your winter/snow videos! How fun is this. You pretty much drive where you want. In the 70's when it did rain and snow in Calif. We were hiking in June, in the Sierra's, between Mammoth and Southern Yosemite. 8"-12" of snow, tennis shoes and light sleeping bags turned us back. my brothers were about 10, I was16, some other friends too. Fun but cold
Where were you at by Crane Prairie? I was in Sunriver area on Mothers day and had low thirties and snow squalls all day. When I went over the Cascades very early Monday morning I had about five miles of hard pack. May snow in central Oregon Cascades.

In Colorado I have drove over Loveland Pass on July 4th as it snowed, following my father who was pulling a twenty -one foot trailer. He got stopped due to traffic and couldn't start moving again. I got around him in my 1964 Falcon Sprint, 260 V8, T-10 four speed. I pulled in front of dad, hooked on to him with a light chain. When I started to pull dad I bumped him and he started moving and he would run up on me and have to brake because he had traction and I couldn't get traction. I saw a clear spot of pavement coming up and when I hit the clear pavement I pushed in the clutch, reeved the engine and popped the clutch , breaking the chain. Good thing I only had a light weight chain. After that we were both free to move at our own speed. Crazy

MT tires are not necessarily better than ATs in the snow. Best traction is achieved by snow packing in the tread, and letting the snow grip itself. MTs often are made specifically so stuff *doesn't* get packed in the tread, hindering snow performance. So really you should be looking for tires with lots of tiny grooves or sipes for snow to pack in. The Baja MTZs on the prerunner in this video seemed to hold snow pretty well, if I remember. That's why it could keep up with the 40" rigs.
I was wondering if you have watched Jon's channel snow batman99 channel? He hasn't uploaded in a while. I think he quit farming and now works a regular job. This is the blue mtns. in northeastern or. and southeastern wa. The longest they wheeled was 40 hours. He would wheel for 20 hours most of the time. Watch some of the older video's and it will make you even more addicted. When are you going to 42's? Most of the local guys are running 42 Iroks pretty much the staple.
My gosh, that snow was insane! It looked more than the dead of Winter instead of Spring, it looked so cold with that wind howling. Casey, that was so much fun. Reminds me of my younger years in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. Only difference was we did this with snowmobiles pulling the "brave souls" on snow saucers....LOL. Thanks for the memories.
A little late to seeing this video, but it good to see the working guy out having fun fun. Even tho you had to perform a couple rescues and be director, when it's all in fun, it is still fun.
That looks like so much fun. I've always dreaded driving in the snow in the Willamette Valley because there is usually ice under it. Doing what you are with others would probably allay my fears. Wish I was about 35 years younger and a guy.
