This job turned out to be FAR different than we planned for! Luckily there was another truck on site to use as an anchor, and between the Apex winch and Yankum recovery gear we were able to get it out. Get your own Yankum gear at yankum.com?afmc=CHR !!

@@CaseyLaDelle yeah that makes sense. 20 years ago when I was doing heavy recovery normal calls were $150 an hour, and emergency or technical recoveries were $300 an hour port to port. The big tractor trailer rollovers you see on the news would often be $10k to $20k way back then depending on how much equipment we had to bring in. Probably twice that now
With the cost of equipment, fuel, and labor today it has to be more than that. I'm sure with fuel prices you have to add a fuel surcharge.

This reminded me of a similar event outside Flagstaff, AZ. 3 girls skipped class and went out into the forest. They slid off the road and rolled down an embankment. The passengers had seat belts on but the driver did not and was ejected on the way down. Their SUV landed upside down at the bottom of the ravine. After the passengers unbuckled they heard the driver calling for help but could not find her at first. She was trapped under the vehicle. The roof had caved in lengthwise in a V shape and she was trapped in the V! It took several hours for rescuers to get her out. She was uninjured except for a lot of bruises and a sprained (maybe broken, don't remember) ankle! She even wanted to climb back up to the road under her own power, but the rescuers said no. One in a million!

The Badlands Apex 12,000 lb. winch with a remote control and synthetic rope on it is probably the best buy on the market as far as getting bang for your buck. I have experience with them and I know quite a few people in Idaho who use them for anything and everything in the Idaho backcountry and the surrounding western U.S. states...and the high number of TH-camrs who use them for all kinds of recoveries isn't a coincidence, the things flat work and they're tough. 🦍🪝👍✔

I was wandering the same thing I look at the warn and it is close to 2000 dollars and the badlands is around 500 and was just afraid it was really cheaply made

@@troyehnisz9907 I've had four winches fail in my life. Every single one was a warn. All they are is another Chinese built winch with a high price tag and a completely bogus "made in USA" claim...

Gotta love misinformation. I see this on every channel. Folks don't realize that good information will make a difference and certainly alleviate undo hardships on the person doing the recovery. It is a big unknown what you're headed into when you do recoveries especially in Timbuktu middle of the night. Great video, thank you for all you do for these folks. Stay safe and GOD bless

That was a cool, interesting and little bit technical recovery...at night and clear up in the woods. Casey, you did a great job of explaining your whole assessment of the situation once you had looked everything over and a great job of explaining how you were going to get that heavy "Subaru" back up on the road using a snatch block, an anchor point and reduction pulling (increased torque) using just your Jeep's winch. The camera work by Alex plus his good questions and comments were great as well. Good one guys!

Great nite time recovery Casey and Alex. Funny how the description of the vehicle changes when you get there. Like you said Casey, had you been given the right vehicle description, you would have brought the appropriate vehicle. 🤙😎

I'm thinking that whoever was in that vehicle got freaked out when it went over the edge and down the side!!!
I also think that whoever owns the Chevy is going to have something to say about what happened to it.
I'm just glad that only their pride got hurt.
