on my mk4 jetta wagon i bought the car knowing it had a nonfunctioning remote fob, took the car to a euro specialist shop that wanted to install a new lock module $500 parts and labor, even after they claimed they had put a new battery in. a year later. i had gotten used to just unlocking it with the key and not the fob. got bored one day and i popped the remote open and surprise surprise, they had installed the 2032 battery upside down. I reinstalled it and the fob works again. the TL;DR ALWAYS CHECK YOUR BATTERIES AND THE POLARITIES FIRST!! :-) Thanks Charles, your knowledge is always highly informative!
Thank you for making this video. I have a 99 Jetta and changed the batteries in my key fob. Then the fob wouldn’t work. So I tried your suggestion of putting one key in the drivers door and the other in the trunk. And my key works just like it should 👍 ... awesome man thanks again!
My normal key stopped working in my Volkswagen Golf 2001. I found another video that said if your car is immobilized with your normal key that you can put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position and leave it for 12 minutes, then the immobilizer icon will stop blinking and you will be able to start your car. This worked for me.
Thank you for the informative video! I replaced the battery on my second key fob (keyless ignition) and the car cranks/runs just fine, but I cannot unlock or lock the vehicle using the remote. The first fob works perfectly. Any recommendations? Thanks!
you probably dont give a shit but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow lost the login password. I appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Emmett Bo thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
3:25 I will stop you right there! I got a new case for my VW MK5 key and I swapped the board and the key itself without knowing about this pill chip... I spent 2 hours trying to figure out why my car started and died (I disassembled the whole engine bay for deep cleaning and was afraid I broke something, but the dashboard said *NO KEY* error...) Anyways, I feel so dumb now. Thank you so much for your video man
Hmm, awesome video. I have a used 2010 Jetta purchased from someone I know. Runs great but now doors not locking. Thought alarm is activating from fob. I was going to just change the key fob battery myself. Then your video says you best have another key to do that. I don't have an extra. So off the the rip-off dealer I go.... sad.
Hi, i have a VW Eos 2008, my car battery died, so had to jump start the car and then change the battery while the car is running. after that my remote failed to unlock the car, but i can lock and open the boot normally, and the car start also normally. what do you think? Thank a lot. Richie
Im not alone with my ocd!!It's usually 5 times for me.Love the vids,mk4 is comin' up on 200k...yay!!!Your posts had a lot to do with that so thank you and never stop making em' please🤪👍🙏🤝🤞
My 2008 rabbit key broke off the fob and was deemed "not a valid key" or similar by the car and says it will "never" work so I have to use the valet key. Is it true the valet key limits the functions of the car? Is there a difference?
I have been looking for a good video that explains how to disarm the factory alarm on a VW. Alarms always go off at the wrong times and just piss people off. I wish they would stop putting them on cars because it just makes people want to vandalize your vehicle when the alarm goes off for NO reason at 7:30 on Sunday morning (this has happened but thankfully not to me). Mine went off for no reason this morning and woke me up. I need to disable it. The alarm makes my car less safe because I can't lock it and go into a store because the alarm will go off. I had this problem on a Nissan too. Thanks!
+Ronald Lewis it's going off because you have something wrong. With the proper scan tool, you can see the alarm triggers, that will point you in a direction of the issue. Unfortunately the alarm is woven deeply in the vehicles global system. Often just pulling a fuse or disconnecting a module will have other issues.
Did you ever figure it out? I had to take my key fob apart + took the alarm thing out of my panel because the alarm is unpredictable :( I was told it could be a door latch going bad and I guess so because one of my doors doesn’t open from the inside and it gets suck when opening from the outside When driving off, one or maybe two of the doors definitely don’t sound when locking but other times they do.
Hi Charles, I have a 2006 vw new beetle 2.5. Ive changed my battery on my remote. I am getting a red light on the fob itself but it won't lock or unlock the doors. The car also suddenly won't crank or start. Could this be a fob issue? I do have 2 keys for the car but I never programmed the new one yet nor did I ever try to use it. The battery in the car itself is new as well. I replaced the ignition cylinder and transferred my key assembly to the new cylinder. All fuses are good. I replaced the vacuum pump gaskets under your video with great success. Everything is back together. I now have a security light on the dash flashing and the car won't even turn over. All lights, radio and other accessories all work but it just won't turn over and the security light flashes. I have tried every video trying different attempts to clear it but no luck. I have a couple scanners and have cleared the codes but still no luck. Can you or anyone help? Your videos are the best, thank you for them all. Ive learned so much.
My car suddenly stopped responding to BOTH of my key fobs. The batteries were good, but I replaced one, anyway. Still no response from the car. Any ideas?
@clarestephanie5557 Turned out to be an entire package of new batteries from Amazon that tested perfect on two different battery testers, was bad. Under the slightly heavier load of the key fob, the battery voltage collapsed. But thanks for taking the time to answer and suggest a possible issue.
@@PanamaSticks im still waiting to fix mine fella has mobile electrical mechanic equipment local ro me the only guy thats willing to travel all the others want me to get it towed to their place...im hoping he will come and turn the immobilizer off in the EC program so it will think it hasn't got an immobilizer any more because i dont know if a new instrument cluster will fix it with the water issue if i can get it started i can bring it into my garage and dry it all out.
Hello. I have a 2017 GTI (tiptronic) and the key won't twist. It rotates a little, but then stops and feels like a solid stop. The headliner lights and radio turn on, but nothing else. I have wiggled the key, turned the steering wheel, etc., but no luck. The shifter also will not let me shift into neutral. I can remove the key will remove from the ignition. Will the paperclip work to release the cylinder? Tomorrow I will try pressing the manual release for the Shift Lock and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Any ideas are much appreciated. Thanks
Help! Got new key fobs for 2001 cabrio and while following instructions to program them, car went into some sort of alram mode. We had to disconnect the battery for it to stop. Now, every time we put the battery cable back on, the alarm goes off...wont stop even if we start it. Need to be able to drive the car without the alarm beeping and would love to get my fobs programmed. Any advice?
i have vw polo 2013. That seem to have a immobiliser issue. the car wont start when i turn the key i hear a clicking sound and that's all no starting. i ran a coder reader on it and it only says 9**** but i cant see the rest. it also says immobiliser in the reader. please not there is no immobiliser light flashing. i have a 2006 passat i have in the cluster immobilizer active and no crank. do you think the no crank is because the immobilizer or it could be the starter too
Question. Its not really related but im looking at picking up a 03 gli vr6. When i went to look at it the guy only had just spare and no fob, could i buy a used actual oem vw fob(s) not after market made ones on ebay and just have another key(s) made for them and reprogram them with vagcom?

I do have a question for you. 2002 VW Jetta TDI ...Can I remove the Immobilization Chip from the one key that I do have that starts the engine and mechanically opens the Doors and Trunk (Doesn't work Remotely on anything) and Hot Glue or Tape the Chip on or near the Ignition Switch (somewhere on the Steering Column)? I don't care about the Anti-theft garbage...I just want to have multiple keys that will start and let me drive the car ! Or maybe just tape the Original key with the Good Chip near the Ignition switch and be able to use my new FasterKeys replacement key in the Ignition ! Thanks a bumch !
vw touran 2007 have this issue that battery wont last first it was matter off days then i adjusted pins that touch the battery now it has lasted for about 1 month is there some other issue? what do i need to code a new key? only got one
We have a 2017 Golf. When the battery in the key runs out, you can pop off the protective cover covering the key cylinder in the door and open the door with the key. There is a small notch hidden in the cover under the handle to hook into. To start it touch the fob on the steering column in the place the key usually goes in. And then you can open the other doors from inside. Or if you do not want to go through all that trouble, just carry a new battery with you at all times. That is for us non-mechanics. But I have the VCDS toy and am learning how to use it. As a computer software engineer, I consider the VCDS tool a toy. A serious toy for mechanics, but fun to play with for me. (IT dudes have a strange definition of toys.) HumbleMechanic, computers and magic are in bed together to make our lives difficult.
WHY do customers tolerate these "conveniences" that cost $300???? My Chev van has a chip built into the key itself -- and costs $11 so when the remote gets lost or dies, or well, I use a key like we did for 100 years! A metal piece inside the remote broke off so there is no more connection to the battery! I haven't been able to lock my Jetta without setting the alarm ... with no way to turn the alarm off ... for like three years!?! I'm sorry, but this is fraud on the part of the car companies!!!!! Give me A KEY I can use no matter what -- and it should cost $3-10!!
I have a Vw golf mk4 gti and al the doors have some kind of problem. One door won’t open at all, second door won’t lock or unlock so I have to do it manually. I have a 2002 VW Jetta. Can I swap the bottom portion of the key fob (not the key but rather the circuit and buttons) with a new one? I can start the car and drive it but can't lock it with the remote (only physically).
My remote had such sort range, I would have to hold the fob close to the rear window to pop the trunk. I changed the battery and still had the same issue. I even ran a new receiving antenna wire for the fob inside of the car. That barely helped at all, so I only had one thing left... When I bought the car(used), it came with 2 remotes, but only one would work as a remote. I hooked up my VCDS and programmed the second remote. Bingo. The fob that I had been using this whole time has something wrong with it. No idea what went wrong, but the range on it really sucks. This other fob reaches 150 feet or so with the new antenna hooked up in the car. I ran the receiving antenna into the new shark fin antenna case that I installed and just made a hoop at the end of it inside of the fin....It is not hooked up to the radio antenna potion, it is just inside of the shark fin case so that it is outside of the metal of the car. I would suggest trying a new fob. There's many videos on how to program them, I just used VCDS because it was easier for me.
@@derekmoore1612 Thanks for the reply. Very helpful. I did eventually find the second fob and it worked. The only problem is I guess they are programed different because I have to use the old fob to start the car and the new one to open the doors. Looks like it's time for a reprogram but I don't want to end up with neither one of the working.
@@larrystephens7437 I'm not sure that I am understanding. You would have to program the other fob in order to be able to unlock the car. I'm guessing that you did that, but you didn't swap over the transponder to the other fob. If you don't do that, the car wont stay running for any amount of time because the immobilizer will shut it down after it starts. You can VERY carefully swap the transponder to the other fob. There are videos that show you how to do it. I suggest soaking it in acetone and using a cotton swab to rub the glue out. Take your time.....But, the easiest way to fix that issue is to swap the fob ends. Put your key end on the good fob end. If the buttons and such on the old fob are better, just swap out the board from the good fob to the old one and you will have a fully functioning key fob again. That's what I did. My original fob was in great shape. The one that I had to program was taped together. So I put the good fobs keyless entry board into the the case of the fob the had horrible range and I now have a great key fob. Hope this helps you.

I have had a 2007 VW Jetta 2.5L 4-door Sedan with A/T for a little over 5 years now that I purchased from my very close friend. I’ve loved it since the day I bought it. Problem is, someone else must have fell in love with it at first site as well because while I was in the grocery store with my family, they decided to try to steal it with a screwdriver completely unaware of the immobilizer. Now my ignition is completely destroyed and my key no longer works. Took it apart to see if I could do anything to clear the damaged parts but when I reassembled it Would jet stuck in the off and accessory mode but will not turn to on position. Bought a new ignition lock cylinder with a new programmed key for the lock cylinder simply because it made sense to me. Unfortunately, after installing it it also got stuck in the off accessory modes. Any advice on what I should do next
Thanks for getting back to me. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I’ve already taken it out and had to drill the original lock cylinder out because I couldn’t get it into the on position to release it with the paper clip. So, on the advice of the dealership service department after giving my VIN #, I bought a new lock cylinder with a new matched key for the ignition. Then, as I’m sure you know, after reinstalling it into my car the car in-dash immobilizer warning light came on. Apparently, the new supposedly programmed one I was sold for a whopping $150 isn’t programmed to sync with my ECU. Is there anything you could suggest that would allow me to avoid the dealership service department and the definite stick up awaiting me to simple remedy the problem caused by a stupid thief.
Great video. I have a 2000 Jetta. It's had some weird electrical (and other) issues. The latest being unable to disarm and unlock the door using the remote. I bypassed this by just inserting the key to unlock the door, but of course that set off the alarm. I started the car ok, and the alarm continued to sound for a few seconds. I parked at home and as soon as I opened the door the alarm sounded again. It went off after some moments. I can't remember what I did exactly... Shall I just replace the key remote battery as a first step? I'm loath to spend any money on her than I have to...
Yes did you find out what to do? I’m having this issue with my 09 Jetta. It seems whenever I go to my car with the key fob the alarm sounds Doesn’t matter if the battery is in the key fob or not. As long as I’m within distance of the car, it goes off! I had to disengage my alarm fuse (for now) or else my neighbors would be annoyed
@@Cams.Crusade sorry I’m late. Long story not short, I took my car to the dealer and they were baffled. The horn had to be disengaged in the fuse box because taking the battery out of my keyfob did not work. So that stops my car from blaring. I was informed it could be the door latch actuator that went bad. I am pretty sure that’s the fix. I can hear my door trying to lock and relook on it’s on from time to time. One of them doesn’t open from the inside and gets stuck when opening on the outside. So it has to be the back door trying to lock itself and the computer in the car thinks it’s open causing the alarm to blare. I am going to buy a new keyfob though too to just rule it out. Damn VWs 🤦🏾♀️. They’re so sensitive lol!

After 1 year I have begun having an issue with my '14 Passat TDI SEL premium with the KESSEY system. The following morning I had the same issue, back to the dealer who now states this is normal, if normal why repair it the first time, and why did it take a year to present the problem? Suggestions?

Hi I am having trouble with my central locking. I can only lock and unlock, with key, on the passenger door. All doors will unlock with remote but immediately lock again... Hey boss I watched your video on why the 2004 touareg isn't a great car a tad too late, and now I'm stuck with it. I have used a majority of your videos as a reference in the process if getting the car to run and the last and recent problem I have is the "immobilizer activated". And my car key does have a problem and when I did take it apart, I noticed a what I think is a copper coil bar, thats supposed to have a plastic shield over disconnected, do you think that is why I am having an issue? And where can I get the immobilizer taken it out if its a cheaper option, I rather be able to drive it until I can fix it down the line than pay money to take uber and other ways of transportation. Please if you can help me out, I will be immensely thankful. And if its any help I'm in Los Angeles, just in case you can refer me to someone who can fix it. And I've tried dealers but they just don't care to answer questions they just refer me to parts then to service and they give estimates on what they may charge and sure in fact I regret my purchase.
Little advice, only secure way to check key battery is to meassure it while its in key and when button lock or unlock is pressed,i had many times situations when the batery out of key shows perfect voltage, but when i press button,it drops allmost to zero volts, but since its really not expensive part, its the best to change it anyway, and try to not leave key without battery for too long.

I need your help! 2005 VW Beetle GLS convertible 1.8L turbo, new battery, new passenger door lock actuator, new battery in the key fob. I can open the door via the lock blade, start the car, drive all day long. BUT, I cannot get the key fob to connect to the car to use the alarm/lock/unlock/trunk. I only have the one key, and have tried putting the key in the ignition, shutting the door, turning the key to the On position without turning on the car and clicking lock button on the door, followed by holding down the Lock button on the fob, but nothing. Tried splitting the fob and putting the blade in the ignition (again, in the On position), removing the lock barrel from the drivers side door and using a screwdriver, turning the lock to the right for ten seconds. I then clicked on lock, waited 2 seconds and clicked again, but nothing. Not sure what other tricks there are to getting the fob to connect to the car :( Any help you can give would be golden, and greatly appreciated :)

I have the kessy push to start/keyless entry and the issue I have is when on random occasion the fob works and locks or opens car via kessy, and then sometimes it doesn’t. So I use the blade to enter and lock when it fails. Those times it usually doesn’t detect the key in the car so I have to hold it to ignition while pushing to start. On top of that usually then the doors do the annoying will not lock while driving and continuously attempt to lock doors but eventually open (you hear the sound for quite some time). I thought it was the battery but I kept replacing them and using the other key, same issues off and on. Then I thought the batter was getting dislodged and not connecting aka acting as a dead fob. But I swear it will go from working and locking perfectly fine, to not, so I don’t think it’s a dying batter issue. Any thoughts or solutions: def welcomed! Thanks VWers

PLEASE HELP!! I have a 2003 vw jetta wagon tdi diesel that does what you mentioned in video with start's a second and cuts right off. The car sat for quite sometime, changed battery. When the key in on position the battery light on dash stays on, windows wont work. I know you can't swap clusters with out being cloned. I do have a spare cluster and when i plug it in the windows then will work. Changed battery in fob's. One of the fobs did have a little rust inside and flashes red blinking light. Also blinking red light on radio. Is it true that a locksmith has to come out and reprogram the key to the car because of memory loss from when the car sat and battery was changed? Appreciate any help you can give
I broke the plastic casing in half trying to unlock my VW Passat B5's frozen door. Well. Finally when I did get it opened, the car wouldn't start. Little did I know that the immobilizer chip had fallen out of the key. 4 days later and after changing the fuel filter in the freezing cold and windy parking lot did I realize a new light had popped up on the dashboard - the immobilizer was on. Luckily I still found the chip in the snow by the driver's door by shoveling the snow there to a bucket and letting it melt (literally felt like I was panning for gold :D). Well, but unluckily, I reinserted the chip in the key, but the immobilizer still wouldn't turn off. I tried the chip one way and the other, hooking off and on the battery , but no luck. I suspect the chip got waterdamaged, but could the immobilizer itself be in lockdown mode or somekind of security mode now, since I've been trying to start the car without the immo chip for days now. It's my only key aswell. Seems to me I have an ignition swap coming up now, unless I get the immobilizer programmed off.
Hey Charles, just put a new battery in my 09 GTI. The old battery had been out of the car for a few days, so the immobilizer kicked in. After connecting the new battery, the car starts and then immediately shuts off. Last time this happened, I used your trick to reset the vehicle computer (taking a jumper cable, disconnecting the battery, then connecting one end of the jumper cable to the positive battery cable and the other end to the negative battery cable, let the car sit for 15 minutes or more, then reconnecting the battery and it started up and stayed running). I don't think it's working this time. I kept a jumper cable connected to both positive and negative battery cables while the battery was out of the car. Now that I've installed the new battery, the immobilizer is still triggered. Is there some other reason my car won't stay running? The key still unlocks and locks the doors and activates and deactivates the alarm. So, the key is still synced to the car. Any advise is greatly appreciated, as always.
Got it working? Do you see the red light flashing on the fob when clicking a button? You might need to resync it with the car if the fob "works". Press unlock button. Unlock car with the keypart. Start it within 30 sec or 1 min (don't remember). Guess you also have/had an alarm setting of from time to time when getting in the car.........
I have a mk5 gti, everything is coded I had one key when I bought the vehicle. I bought a new key from Vw where I work because the original key would not lock and unlock, I coded my new key and adapted key remotes and the keys still don’t unlock and unlock the car, now I’m trying to diagnose the car side since I have confirmed it isn’t the remotes causing this issue but the vehicle is, I have checked measured value block 10 in the comfort module and it is receiving signal from both remotes on all buttons for both keys but still won’t unlock and lock the vehicle. Any steps I should try next, I have looked in Elsa and r47 antenna receiver is not a replaceable part, only the comfort module is, my next step of thinking is check all fuses related to j393 (comfort control module) and go from there. I don’t know I am missing so if anyone has any suggestions let me know.
I have 04 Jetta, when insert the key to start, the key turns all the way around but car wont start. I have to insert and extract the key slowly and eventually the car starts. Would this be an ignition switch problem or a key cylinder problem or even just the key, any of you have recommendations on where to start, thanks
Hello Charles how are you bud? Hey I got an 03 beetle no remote key just s plain key with a chip do you have any suggestions for me? My car doesn't start at all ?
idk if you may still be able to help since its been a long time since this video came out, but what should I do about my 2012 VW Jetta starting then turning off after a second? it gives me a No Key message, The EPC light turns on and the battery light is on as well
Raul Zarate my 2010 Jetta has the same problem. My cat sat for a while when I got home the keys worked and I moved my car from the backyard where it was kept to the driveway. Next time I tried starting the car it started and immediately turned off with a NO KEY displayed. I’ve tried every diy trick to try and reprogram the SOB and NOTHING! I am curious have you fixed the problem with yours?
Gary Bond I tried every DIY trick as well and non of them worked for me, so my last option was to take it to the Volkswagen dealership, had it towed there, (we have a friend who has a tow company so it only cost me $65) the dealership told me it was the programming that got all fucked up and they had to order a new key for me, so I’m total it cost me $415, but I ordered 2 new keys so that added another $150

Hello, i just watch your video and i have a question. My remote is not working. I just inserted new battery, but it seems that was not a problem. I cant lock and anlock the car and if i try to start the car alarm starts. What could be a problem? Thank you. Beat regatds from Slovenia

I had some problem with my immobilaiser system on my mk4 vr6 2 years ago. I hade iphone back then and I used to have car keys and iphone on the same pocket. Some times car start and shut down nearly 10 times and show that immobilaiser activeted text. Then I started to keep phone and keys on each on their own pocket. Never had that problem again...
on my mk4 jetta wagon i bought the car knowing it had a nonfunctioning remote fob, took the car to a euro specialist shop that wanted to install a new lock module $500 parts and labor, even after they claimed they had put a new battery in. a year later. i had gotten used to just unlocking it with the key and not the fob. got bored one day and i popped the remote open and surprise surprise, they had installed the 2032 battery upside down.
If you don't have the extra key, just put your key in the ignition, turn to ACC, and press the remote until your locks go down. It's now programmed.
Mario M I have a push button and only one key car doesn’t lock or unlock at all
I have 2000 passat and the key in water for 2 days
My normal key stopped working in my Volkswagen Golf 2001. I found another video that said if your car is immobilized with your normal key that you can put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position and leave it for 12 minutes, then the immobilizer icon will stop blinking and you will be able to start your car. This worked for me.
Had the same problem this morning, i read your comment and did the same on my 2008 VW crossfox and it worked !!!!

Thank you so much for your video man
Thanks for the video!! Excelent info, I have a question, it's the immobilizer works not staring the car at all ? Not just for a few seconds? Thanks

May just be a remote battery too.

My 2008 rabbit key broke off the fob and was deemed "not a valid key" or similar by the car and says it will "never" work so I have to use the valet key. Is it true the valet key limits the functions of the car? Is there a difference?
I’m going to try this in Danielle, my 2002 Volkswagen Passat GLS
Thanks I guess I need to get a better scan tool. You have a great channel!
Did you ever figure it out? I had to take my key fob apart + took the alarm thing out of my panel because the alarm is unpredictable :(
I was told it could be a door latch going bad and I guess so because one of my doors doesn’t open from the inside and it gets suck when opening from the outside
When driving off, one or maybe two of the doors definitely don’t sound when locking but other times they do.
Thank you very much for this video! Is it possible to buy a new cip?
Do you have any solutions for keyless defective?
Thank you for your videos! I've been hooked on trying to watch them all!

Hello.
I have a 2017 GTI (tiptronic) and the key won't twist. It rotates a little, but then stops and feels like a solid stop. The headliner lights and radio turn on, but nothing else. I can remove the key will remove from the ignition. Will the paperclip work to release the cylinder?
Tomorrow I will try pressing the manual release for the Shift Lock and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.
Any ideas are much appreciated.

(IT dudes have a strange definition of toys.)
HumbleMechanic, computers and magic are in bed together to make our lives difficult.

I have a 2002 VW Jetta. Can I swap the bottom portion of the key fob (not the key but rather the circuit and buttons) with a new one? I can start the car and drive it but can't lock it with the remote (only physically).
2003 Jetta TDI weak / short range. I have changed the battery two times. The second battery was 3.1 volts. Thoughts or suggestions?

I’ve had it happen. You may need to removed the lock cylinder and try and reinstall it. It’s much easier when it’s out of the car.
P.S. I no longer have a working programmed key due to the fact I drilled it out to put in the aforementioned dealer recommended new one.
Is it possible that even after an immobilizer delete that the car would have issues starting because the key is bad?
2008 Passat btw
Great video. I have a 2000 Jetta. It's had some weird electrical (and other) issues. The latest being unable to disarm and unlock the door using the remote. I bypassed this by just inserting the key to unlock the door, but of course that set off the alarm. I started the car ok, and the alarm continued to sound for a few seconds. I parked at home and as soon as I opened the door the alarm sounded again. It went off after some moments. I can't remember what I did exactly... Shall I just replace the key remote battery as a first step? I'm loath to spend any money on her than I have to...

I’m in that boat too. If I’m even a little worried about it, I’m grabbing a new one.
@@HumbleMechanic Wow,i didnt really expect an reply from You Mr.,my advice was to "regular" peoples who are not in car repair jobs, but feels awesome that You found a time to reply.Cheers and stay awesome as You are. :)
hi my key was working fine, and after replacing the ignition lock housing now the key fob won't work. please help
Car not reading key, after new ignition switch.. any idea
Make sure the reader is plugged in. That is the most common

Have a Volkswagen beetle 2000 the key Is broken away from the fob What do I need to do
Just had a vehicle with a dead battery, jumped it and ran into an immobilizer issue. Charged the battery and the vehicle still wasn't happy with immobilizer. long short. had to leave the key ON in the ignition for 5-10min. until the vehicle recognized proper voltage and was able to cycle the key and start. thanks for the informative vlog. I'm in the trade and find myself referencing your site often. keep it up! whats your location? I see your rogue sticker.
Charles Campos, Have you ever experienced a 2016 VW Passat key fob, that can be reprogrammed and be functioning properly, UNTIL you start the car and shut it off, then when trying to lock the car, it does not work. No idea, kept me up all night last night.
And, Awesome Videos HumbleMechanic!
Low batt seems to come around on my 2010 t5 and even after replacing the batteries on both remotes it is still there .No one seems to know how to fix this . Any ideas ?? and don't tell me I need to have the car scan please.
Thanks VWers
did you ever figure this out?
So i recently picked up a 2000 gti it got submerged in water up to the interior where the stick shifter is it wasnt long but i managed to get all the water out and get it to run but it shuts down after a second and its because the key imbolizer is flashing on the dash also the key got wet too, so what would i need to do just get a new key or do you think the imobilizer is fried also it only unlocks too
Question.. any idea if Ross-Tech will align keys on an 05 Jetta 2.5L? Long story short a friend dropped his already broken key and lost the transponder.
Ohhh I don’t think it will
Starting the car no. Remote lock/unlock yes
That’s unfortunate.. Maybe VAS 5052? I’m a Bentley tech and we do have one. Well thanks for the insight on Ross-Tech

Have a 2004 Volkswagen Touareg they have the key symbol on the dash when driven
Please tell us how to get to the battery. Thanks
I have this problem aswell, did you ever find out what the issue was.
yep. had to do a full computer reset. There's a video on this channel that shows how to do it.@@euanjames5002
If the battery dies in the fob can it make it so you can't remove the key from the ignition
No
Hey bud, have a 15 Jetta. Changed the battery in fob twice in a month & it still doesn’t Lock/Unlock. What should I do ?
John Torres I have a fob for sell 100
idk if you may still be able to help since its been a long time since this video came out, but what should I do about my 2012 VW Jetta starting then turning off after a second? it gives me a No Key message, The EPC light turns on and the battery light is on as well
Raul Zarate my 2010 Jetta has the same problem.
Gary Bond I tried every DIY trick as well and non of them worked for me, so my last option was to take it to the Volkswagen dealership, had it towed there, (we have a friend who has a tow company so it only cost me $65) the dealership told me it was the programming that got all fucked up and they had to order a new key for me, so I’m total it cost me $415, but I ordered 2 new keys so that added another $150
Charles im having issues with my 02 jetta tdi i get massive clouds of black smoke when using anything more than quarter throttle I noticed there is some oil dripping from the turbo could that be the cause of the smoke I have a hundred and eighty-nine thousand miles
Hello, i just watch your video and i have a question. My remote is not working. I just inserted new battery, but it seems that was not a problem. I cant lock and anlock the car and if i try to start the car alarm starts. What could be a problem? Thank you. Beat regatds from Slovenia
Maybe it’s not a remote issue kore of a door latch issue
I have another remote, witch is working fine. Not working remote was frstly working bad (somethimes was working, somethimes not) than it just stop workin. I replaced battery, but still not.. Thank you
So, I have a 2000 beetle. Lost only key, purchased new one from VW, but need to program this key,but can I do it myself? I'm tapped out !!! Help!!!! 😝
What about when it says key not in range, I gotta put thw fob right next to the ring to start the car.
Make sure the battery is good/new
If you leave dead batteries in a remote for a year or more, can that cause the key fob to forget it's programming? If so, how would you reset it?
I had some problem with my immobilaiser system on my mk4 vr6 2 years ago. I hade iphone back then and I used to have car keys and iphone on the same pocket. Some times car start and shut down nearly 10 times and show that immobilaiser activeted text. Then I started to keep phone and keys on each on their own pocket. Never had that problem again...
