  • A sign of Allah's love for someone, is that He puts them through trials & tribulations in this world.
What is the wisdom behind these trials and how should a Believer respond when he goes through difficulty and hardship?
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi dedicates his Khutbah to a short tafseer of Surah ash-Sharh at one of the first Masjid ever build in North America!
Recorded 16th November 2012 in Edmonton, Canada

People say they believe, but their actions show who they really are. Allah wants us to have faith and we need Him, He does not need us. You must know that the more pain you receive in this life, the greater your reward in the next. All the Holy Shaykh's are your true friends, they truly want to find you in Jennah.

Didn't we open up your chest? By giving you Islam. Didn't we comfort you by giving you Islam.
And did we not lift the burden that was causing you to stoop down? Allah forgive him of all of his sins. Sins weigh you down
Did we not raise your status? Never is Allah mentioned but Muhammad is followed by it.
Why these questions? Why ask rhetorical question? To remind him of three things Allah has done for him. How can you think Allah is displeased with you when he has given you all these blessings. Concentrate on the positives in your life. For every negative think of the multiple positives in your lives. Ever blessing given to our prophet is also our blessing as his followers.
Therefore now that you realise that Allah loves you and that you have these blessings know for sure that with ever single difficulty there is ease. Never does Allah send down something difficult and not simultaneously send down the ease as well. For every specific difficulty there will be multiple difficulties. For every one difficulty at least two ease will come down. One difficulty will always lose with two eases.
When you finish which you are doing make sure you pray to Allah to bless it. A second meaning when you finish your daily routine then stand in Salah at night. Third meaning when you finish one deed go try another technique. In other words you don't have time to relax. Always be productive. Have a productive life. Every time you have a problem keep on trying to solve it. Don't just concentrate on the means. We need to have both plans the spiritual and physical plan. Deen and dunya combine.
And throughout all of this have. Your ultimate desire and goal to Allah. If you have your ultimate goal the pleasure of Allah then the problems of this dunya become trivial. He who has Allah has everything. You will be successful when your goal is Allah.
Always look on the bright side
The blessings of what you have as a Muslim is a real treasure
If you truly have taqwa for every difficulty there will be multiple ease
For every situation you must have plans and make sure you ask Allah to bless you
Don't make this dunya the ultimate goal.

Nobody did put a gun to your head to listen. He is just referencing sura Nashra, not making it up with his own stuff. Using abusing language towards others, without any provocation does that make you feel better

Actions always speak louder than words! Many can tell you what to do and how to behave, but if their own behaviour is full of sin then they have no authority to instruct. We have to trust in Allah only and not in the empty words and promises of others.

its utterly hard to stay positive when you have lost your wonderful job, house, husbad , kids and wealth.
all remaining is my health ,
its hard when you beg Allah for ONE small single window of hope and all you see is doors being shut into your face within a 7 years period .
    SABR ????
    TEST ??

      Elahi Ameen .
sometimes you jus need that liitle bit of light to keep you strong ,
when its all missing , Its really hard to believe that Allah hears you . And I know he does , but we are all human , when clamities hit you over and over again , sometimes you lose your hope . Look at prophet SAW , in his position , even HE questioned that .
May allh give me sabr , and to all those that are in hardship .

practising sunni aslamualykum i might be late in responding. we have to make our ultimate goal Allah.looking at al akhira. eman is the only thing that can carry you through this so gaurd it well the true wealth. know that all is from Allah. The "GOOD"and "BAD" and HE is in total controll.having said that we need to look at our selves that are we committing a major sin(s) that could also destroy the light in our hearts. may Allah give you, stead fastness ameen

Mashallah. This khutbah is a very good healing touch for broken hearts due to any cause.
I have a single query about the tafseer of the first verse.
I had read in my childhood that The chest of our prophet peace be upon him was opened by the angels and then washed with heavenly water when he was a child.
Sheikh yasir did not make any mention of that.
