I probably wouldn’t have been cold if my sleeping mat didn’t pop 🥲

@herethereandeverywhereYT we stayed on a spot along the sandstone trail, Bulkeley hill.
Was just around freezing i reckon but lots of wind. I actually have the same pad as you, well I have the alpine version but very simular. So was good to watch how you mended it on the fly. I have the nemo osmo dagger 2p for my tent and it just has too much ventilation! Haha

Yes , absolutely mint. Footprint nearly blows away , dogs rip the mat & it's their fault ! Pegs struggle to go in frozen ground ! Boots are frozen. Who'd have thought that in winter ?

Tony its all part of the fun pushing yourself out of your comfort zone to endure challenges like frozen ground, wind and sometimes gear failure but once you overcome those challenges it builds you’re character but theres also nights were no gear breaks and its just pure bliss i just choose to find a positive from both scenarios

Awesome video, great effort with a crook knee man ... legend
Good to see a bunch of good mates, (dogs included) with similar interests getting out in the outdoors & having a blast ... icicles in the testicles springs to mind lol
My Labradors would tow me up to the top of a hill like that in no time lol, I love your happy tail wagging little mates.
As you probably already know there's a big science in winter cooking, especially at altitude, the higher the Propane percentage will help the gas flow (70/30 Butane-Propane is good)
Here in NZ with altitude sometimes the cannisters will freeze and not work at all. So I used to use a liquid fuel (white spirits) cooker in the winter sometimes ..... bout the same size and weight roughly.

At least you got it repaired and didn’t have to bail, big Agnes is pretty sweet I sleep cold if it drops below -8 so not as warm as my thermarest but for comfort its far superior. For what reason?

    • @richardjennings2708
      @richardjennings2708 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@herethereandeverywhereYT there are guidelines set by the landowners , and one is a maximum of two tents. It is private land, and you really should follow these guidelines. Sadly there are too many people ignoring the rules and the Lake District is swamped with tents.

What exactly is your agenda here? Are you genuinely trying to contribute something meaningful, or are you just trolling? If you care as much as you claim, why not channel that energy into something productive-like planting trees or picking up litter? The fact that you take the time to attack people in comment sections demonstrates that you do care-at least enough to engage. So why not back that up with real action? You can’t claim indifference when you’re actively involved in criticizing others.
Here’s a challenge for you: Did you know that it’s possible to act outside of strict laws if your actions are informed and reasonable? For instance, while it’s illegal to drive through a red light, there are rare scenarios where doing so might be justifiable, such as in emergencies where safety depends on it, or sound judgment for instance if theres no cars. Similarly, wild camping isn’t universally allowed, but in cases where campers are respectful, responsible, and mindful of the environment-such as avoiding private property or disturbing others-exceptions can be made in practice, even if not in strict legality.
The problem is, I feel the need to explain this in depth because people like you tend to view everything in a rigid, binary fashion, ignoring the nuances behind why laws exist. Take traffic laws, for example: Red lights and speed limits exist to account for individuals with poor judgment, ensuring the majority can operate safely. A 30 mph limit isn’t because every driver is unsafe above that speed, but because it compensates for those who might otherwise lack the ability to make sound decisions.
The same logic applies to laws about wild camping. Restrictions are often in place because large groups increase the likelihood of disruptive behavior, like noise or littering. However, there are exceptions: Small groups of responsible campers have demonstrated-time and time again-that they respect the land and leave no trace behind. In those cases, the law, while technically still applicable, doesn’t align with the reality of their behavior.
And yes, you’ll probably laugh at that statement, but ask yourself: Why? Dismissing this idea outright says more about your unwillingness to think critically than it does about the argument itself. It should serve as a wake-up call. Instead of treating laws as immovable absolutes, consider the purpose behind them and the situations in which they might not apply universally.
If you don’t understand what I’m saying, read it again. Some things can’t be taught, and unfortunately, some people simply lack the capacity for critical thinking. It’s the same reason flat-earthers still exist-they’re unable to recognize the flaws in their reasoning. If you knew you were thinking irrationally, you’d correct it. But if you can’t even recognize it, well, that’s the problem.
I suspect you’ll respond with something snarky. But I hope you take a moment to reflect on what’s been said, rather than resorting to an easy dismissal. If you truly care enough to attack someone in a comment section, it’s clear you have the energy to make a difference in a meaningful way. Why not use it productively?
