Cool concept. I foresee three main challenges you guys will have to overcome, business-wise: 1) The switching cost, where most people have used the same e-mail providers for probably their whole life, and are comfortable and view them as "good enough" for their needs. Related to this is the learning curve of a new + different e-mail provider, versus just continuing to use the existing one that's functional enough for most people's needs. 2) The lack of strong enough pain points from existing e-mail providers. Your software might have some cool features -- but how many people using gmail are SO frustrated with it that they'd be actively seeking out alternatives? 3) the fact that Google can subsidize gmail (and other ventures) because it's such a behemoth. Meaning, they can offer it for free, whereas you guys have to charge to provide your e-mail service.
I miss the well-thought-out design and experiences with HEY - somehow email management feels more delightful. I am also enjoying the Workflow feature, I like how there is an element of task management within the same space. Now that I can send out emails via HEY with my other personal email addresses is helpful too. I am looking forward to the calendar feature soon!@@37signals
Yeap! Once you've setup forwarding and sending from your gmail account, you can start a draft, then just click the 'from' section where a dropdown will appear, and allow you to select your gmail account. Check out how to set up forwarding and sending from gmail here: tinyurl.com/2p8wkyhy
