I just looked at one on a car lot here in Waco, TX. It's white with blue interior and two options: radio and heater! Its 250 CID six hasn't run in eight years, but it's not stuck and they are going to get it running. I can't imagine a car that could be slower!
I once owned one!Mine was red with a black vinyl roof. The drivetrain was unique in that it had the 351 Windsor backed by a C-6 automatic and 9 inch differential.I never knew the Windsor small block had a C-6 until I had this. When the engine developed a problem due to excessive carbon build-up,I tried to swap in a 1969 Mustang 351 Windsor.I found out the '69's water pump inlet was pointed towards the passenger side and the '72's was to the driver side like the big block FE or 385 series.
@AbovePerfect In 1970, my uncle, a Ford dealer since 1925, wrote up two prospects for my mother who was going to retire that year--a '70 LTD with the standard Windsor 351, or a Torino sedan, with a Cleveland 351. I pushed for the Torino, but she went for the LTD because it was bigger. It was a slug with the Windsor and I knew the Torino would have been a lot more fun to drive with the 300 HP Cleveland.
Would a 4 door Torino/Montego have the formal roof design? Trying to see if the package tray for the rear speakers on my 73 Montego MX would fit or not
I'm picking up mine tomorrow great price on the car can"t wait to get it can"t sleep. Having it towed right to the shop for mods and engine work car @ 2:04 is my goal my wife took one look and said whooahww looks sexy babe.
1972 gran torino fastbacks are one of the best looking cars ever made , they KILLED the beautiful nose in 73 !!!!!! . they should of color keyed the bumper on the sport models , like they did on the mustang
Joe shaft I agree. Like everything else that the government sticks it's nose into, it just gets screwed up! They had to change the front end to meet federal bumper standards. Then they ruined the rear end in 1974 for the same reason...
My sister Joyce had a 1972 Ford Gran Torino when I was a kid. Hers was dark blue with white interior and white vinyl top. Since Carfax didn't exist in the 1970's, she was told by a mechanic one day that her car was a rebuilt wreck. I think she bought the car around 1975 or 1976. As she was driving to work one morning in the fall of 1980, some man hit her car. Needless to say, her car stopped working due to a cracked engine block.
I just acquired a 72 in an estate sale has been sitting since 1988 its solid not a spot of rust anywhere although it was originally a 302 car someone had thrown in a 351 4 barrel I plan on either restoring it or doing a restomod
In 1976, I bought my Gran Torino for $700.; it needed a valve job, tranny, and exhaust system. I decided a little upgrade was in order so I paid the shop to install BOSS heads from an older Mustang along with headers for dual exhaust. After that, the 302 V-8 ran much better and produced slightly better gas mileage, too! I drove it until it rusted out, great car while it lasted! - Paul
Thank you
great cars

Go Formal roof. Mine is a 73 but there close enough
Great Video!... Loved the 72 Torino's... Didn't like the "sports roof" model as well..
Why does everybody prefer the 1972 model...? It's hot, yeah. But I wanna buy a 1970. I think it's hotter
