    0 - 100 in 7 seconds slow? Muscle cars of the '60s were doing well to manage 6.5 seconds. Just because some EVs can hit under 3 seconds, doesn't make it even desirable.

      Yeah, the standard has gotten skewed ridiculously in recent years. 7 seconds is still plenty quick enough to wrap yourself around a telephone pole if you have it pointed the wrong way.

    My wife just purchased this car. 2023 Niro Wave. One of the small annoyances that we have is that each time you start the car the heat, A/C fan is on at top setting. We have to quickly turn it down especially on a cold day so we don't get blasted with cold air. Otherwise we really like this car.

      Thanks for watching and for your comments. Congrats on joining the "Revolution". Sorry to hear that, maybe it needs a software update? I've not experienced this here in the North American Versions so I would check with your dealer and any owners groups out there. Maybe there is a setting you can change.

    Thanks for looking at this one, Ken. I've been getting quite curious about Hyundai-KIA's EVs since the Ioniq 5 came out. I've been hearing great things, and the Niro was of particular interest to follow because of it's comparative cost.

    Great review Kenneth. Its a nice update. I like that they've brought some more of the Soul styling into it. Was happy to hear this week that Kia/Hyundai is putting a bunch of investment money into expanding their EV manufacturing. They've really come a long way in 30 years, and they seem to have nailed both practical vehicles like this and the more halo products like Ionic 5/EV 6. Can't wait to see what they come up with next... hoping we start seeing some more affordable models in balance with the halo products.

      Thanks for watching and appreciate the feedback. Yes, we will see all OEMs dump big bucks into more manufacturing and battery in-sourcing, especially in the U.S. to comply with IRA. The U.S. auto market is huge, and OEMs don't want to miss out on it especially for EVs.
      Yes, Kia/Hyundai have come a long way. I remember the original Pony and Rios.

    We're trading in our Ev6 AWD Wind model tomorrow for A 2023 Niro Wave. Mostly because the EV6 had depreciated like crazy. So leasing the Niro. Ours is Orange, but sadly doesn't have a black panel on the side. So I think I'm going to wrap ours. Another nite. I wish Kia would provide home chargers like some brands do.

    • @EVRevolution
      @EVRevolution  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and for the feedback. I believe it comes with the Limited spec, and would be an option for the other trims. You would need to confirm with your local dealer. I remember hearing this adapter was available separately as a $100-$200 item, but again a dealer should know, since it's the same adapter for the EV6.

    Hi Ken thanks for the great review. you mentioned an auto hold button . What this button do?

    • @EVRevolution
      @EVRevolution  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, thanks for watching. What these functions do is hold the vehicle when it is at a stop by continuing to apply the brakes once the vehicle has come to a stop. The driver can take their foot off of the brake once this occurs. Almost like 1-pedal driving, but the driver needs to use the brakes until the vehicle stops. Hope this helps.

    Great review Ken. It looks real good ,range is great and the price is real attractive. I wonder about availability as many Ev's seem to have huge wait times. You mentioned map pockets in the back of the seat and I had to wonder if maps are even used or available anymore. Times change fast. Regards

    I have e-Niro MY2020. At least it has EV-button as standard so you can program the Star-button to something else. I've put Android Auto to it because there's no easy way to get back to AA screen if I was checking something else. Also, the screen should have a divided screen where you can see the battery percentage while you are somewhere else than EV menu.

    • @Marbellous
      @Marbellous ปีที่แล้ว

      About the car overall: I think is the comfiest car to drive of them all. Everything works so smoothly and it has the least irritating things of the EV market.
      What I don't understand about the MY23 is the fast charging. Many people doesn't buy it because of the slow fast charging.

    • @EVRevolution
      @EVRevolution  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and great that you have a MY2020! Thanks for joining the EV Revolution!

    • @EVRevolution
      @EVRevolution  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I agree as well. It's a cost and need thing I would guess. Kia has the EV6 and others coming that provide just a few dollars more for fast charging and more for road tripping. Plus, the Niro EV is still using basically the same motor and pack as before, so to increase charging drastically may have meant a new pack requirement, which would drive up the pricing. So IMO, I think they want to keep the pricing as low as they can for many to use this as a primary everyday work commuter, around town hauler, etc. Many many homes have more than 1 vehicle in the driveway and that is a large target market for this vehicle, where someone can replace an existing secondary vehicle with a BEV.

    I got that model only just found it about its battery condishing mode its got
    In 14 c on a 100 kw battey down to 30% i was only geting 35 kw for 10 min then rasing to 55kw ( crap) takes 90 min to 80%
    Now i set same charge as fav battery heater cones on now get 71kw takes 45 min to 80% ( lot better)
    Never seen the 80kw you got put never had 22c

    • @EVRevolution
      @EVRevolution  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! There are many factors that I am sure you know, which effect battery charge pulls. The 80kW could be a rarity, but it seems likely given the SoC, outside temps, battery temps, etc., at that time.

  • @TassieEV
    @TassieEV ปีที่แล้ว

    So what has Kia Canada given it for towing capacity(braked/unbraked) and roofbox limits? I think the peak rate is the same of about 77kW for charging on DC, mind you the key is the charging curve and what the 10-80% time is. So would you prefer Canada went with the European(rest of the world, excluding China) for the charge port standard with the Type 2 for AC instead of the Type1/J1772? Mind you it would make it impossible to road trip into the US without an adapter. The back seats down doesn't make it a flat floor unfortunately so no car camping like Bjorn does. Thanks Ken...guessing you'll be at FCL Vancouver as a panelist or one of the panel hosts? It is overpriced for what it is even in Canada, here in Australia it's $72k AUD.

    • @Richard482
      @Richard482 ปีที่แล้ว

      750kg towing capacity.

    • @EVRevolution
      @EVRevolution  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Richard482 Thanks for watching and that capacity is for Europe. In North America, towing is not recommended hence why I did not give out any specs for it. It's not supported on NA vehicles.

    • @EVRevolution
      @EVRevolution  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @TassieEV1 Thanks for watching and for your comments. As I have answered to Richard below, towing is not supported for NA Market. I don't have any roof box limits, but I would guess up to 100-150 pounds, you would have to ask a dealer. No, I would not prefer Canada to go with Europe standards as we have a good system here already. Adapters are prone to failures and limiters for charging, so that would not be a good thing long term.
      Correct, no flat fold seats but I think you can get a raised floor option for the boot, to level it out as I have seen a pic of this. Might just be a European/Asian offering.
      Yes, I will be at FCL Vancouver correct. Please look me up and say hello if you attend.

    • @TassieEV
      @TassieEV ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EVRevolution I know the roofbox in the EU, and as it's the same car really (so can tow & roofbox as they don't make different chassis for different markets would be too pricey than it already is), is about 75kg I think. Here in AU it is 300kg towing unbraked and 750kg braked(from memory), interesting Canada has put it as zero which isn't great for those that have a need to.
      It will be interesting once the new Kona comes out to compare since it's the sister car of this one and one I'm curious about but will depend on pricing otherwise BYD will be my next EV option.

    Can you confirm this has WIRELESS android auto please? Thanks

    • @EVRevolution
      @EVRevolution  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. I am not sure as I did not try this as I don't have an Android phone. From what I can find: "Wireless Carplay & Android Auto is only available on the Niro base trim. Otherwise, with the larger screen in the higher trims doesn't support it and you must plug it in. A wireless Carplay & Android Auto dongle could be a possible solution.". Seems it may work on the Niros with with the 8-inch screen, but not for the 10.25-inch screen. For the EV version, you should check with a dealer to make sure. Best of luck.

    Nice car but let's face it; you can get a 58kWh e-GMP for a bit more money and you'd get more space, charge at least twice as fast. Last year, I paid $46,995 for my Ioniq 5 58kWh with the heat pump (shame the prices got hiked to $48,999) .

    • @patreekotime4578
      @patreekotime4578 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its a refresh of the car that started their journey. Some people may not need bigger, faster, fancier, etc.. in fact most reviewers have said the thing they love about the E-Niro is that its just a very normal car and all the things it does, it does well enough. 🤷

    • @EVRevolution
      @EVRevolution  ปีที่แล้ว

      @SasquatchMelee Thanks for watching. Yes the smaller battery in the EV6 is same costing as base Niro EV, but Niro offers more range. The LR EV6 is same as Limited Niro EV, but they are different vehicles and it's nice to have a more conventional small SUV in the Niro. Key is we need choice and these both work for different reasons. So I am glad Kia has kept the Niro.
      Congrats on your IONIQ5 and thanks for joining the Revolution!
