Great video. I had never had a card fail until I tried prograde. Had 4 stop working on me during a shoot, and one out of the box that didn’t work. The second two of the 4 that crapped out on me were the replacement cards that they sent me after I contacted them about the first not working. I know most people say they love them but man, after that no way.
Wow, that really sucks man! Possibly a bad batch but regardless definitely not what you want and is enough to put you off a brand! Thanks for watching though ✌🏻

How have you liked the video quality/noise on the a7r5? You shoot in slog or s cine? I’ve noticed on mine slog is a little noisy. Might try s cine with the base 125 iso and see if that helps and is worth the less dynamic range…
@@martzallmedia i shoot in S-log3 and yeah it’s noisy but not mega noisy. Log will always have some noise as it’s log but it should mainly be only in the shadows and the darkest parts of the image. It’s slightly worse than my a7siii but i shot some stuff the other day at 6400 iso and it looked great, got a video coming about that shoot very soon
@@gmarchand because you wouldn’t by a Ferrari and be able to drive it at 170mph everywhere. You can in some situations but it’s also not needed all of the time. Sure, as mentioned in the video CFExpress cards do unlock the full potential of the camera such as the S-I codecs in video and clearing the buffer faster when in burst mode. But to somebody who may be wanting to make the jump to the a7Rv, they could be put off when seeing the cost of a CFExpress card. I’m just wanting to educate people and show them that not everybody needs the best of the best to be able to use a camera with 95% of it’s features 🤷🏻♂️ and the proof is in the pudding, this camera has already paid for itself twice over in less than 2 months, i’ve used a v90 once in it, let alone a cfexpress card. But appreciate what you’re saying, why buy all of the expensive gear if your accessories are top spec 🤷🏻♂️
i clicked this to see if the red and black card will work on rv and ur answer is 8k will not show up. thanks ....,..i sold my a6400 with the red and black sticker card now maybe i can use it in 2nd slot as a backup
As far as i’m aware the type b card is larger so i’m going to say no. They physically wouldn’t fit in the cameras. However I do believe some other brands can use type B
I’ve just checked and 8k options on my camera are 400. And regardless, as soon as i choose any 8k codec the camera doesn’t allow me to use anything below a v60
Depends how many photos you want to take, i have 128gb cards mainly and they cover me for everything. But most of the time for general shooting, i’ll only use maybe 30-40% of the space
I can fill a 128 card with just under 2 hours of 4k 25fps 10bit 422. So for a TH-cam video, it’s fine. The projects for a video like this is maybe 30-60gb at most. A wedding i fill 10 cards across a wedding day, all 128gb but they are being paired up so only 5 cards. The price of a 64gb card is just over half of a 128 so if in doubt, buy a 64, if you ever need more then get multiple 64’s
That's not true, because if you are shooting just one-two photos most of the time, then you do not need to invest in an expensive card. Regular SanDisk Extreme will be enough for most of people.

Good video. Cfexpress cards are crazy fast but too expensive right now. But for this camera you must have one if you want to use it at its best.
Oh absolutely! CFExpress will unlock any cameras full potential

Hey brother, Could you please tell me what's the buffer size of a7r5 if you use V30 UHS1 SD card shooting Uncompressed RAW at 7fps... thanks
Thanks for the explanation, I was about to buy small size card of v90 (which I really don't need)
I’d still recommend v90s but like you say, you don’t need them! Enjoy the camera ✌🏻
@@DannyBligh Actually, don't need 8k, so v60 could be the best.Till better pricing available for v90
Can you use cf express type b card in Sony?

great video. but the 8k has 200 megabits codec? can v30 handle this

It’s fine ☺️ always good to check!
My biggest question is how many gb should I have on each sd card for the A7RV? How many should you have on hand?

if you are spending 4k plus on a camera body, then I'm sorry but you should be realistically be putting the Sony Tough G cards in there at a minimum
