Thank you. I’ve purchased two CFexpress A cards but only 128GB each but also have two each CFexprice A for my two A1’s so I can share them with other cameras. As backup I have pairs of V90 cards for each camera. Tend yo use only ProGrade Cobalt cards for each type but also have some Sony Tough cards.
When I got my a7iv I bought Kingston UHS2 V90 cards for pretty much 1€/GB. I’ve tried now the PNY UHS2 V60 cards which are 50€/256gb so basically the same price as the Sandisk cards and I’m pretty happy. Ofc if I‘d just hold down the shutter for multiple seconds the Kingston would be better but in a normal use scenario the PNY are great
@@MagicWeddingPhotographeryep and no issues at all. Have had good reliability with PNY SSDs so I’m pretty positive about that and if one would fail there’s still redundant shooting in camera
To be fair I shoot stills and I think the SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC cards are good. I have tested my 256GB cards with BlackMagic Speed Test and it shows write speeds of 139MB/s and the 128GB cards show 90MB/s on the write test. Sure the other cards are probably quicker but then you pay a lot more for them.
Thanks for all the info. Do you think if I used the Cf Type A cards in the main slot but had it backing up to a fast SD in the second slot, this would create a bottleneck? Do both cards need to be equally fast? or is the main card slot the most important?
Do I understand it correct... as example the SD card V60... 45 RAWs + then 25 seconds for fully clearing buffer. Does that mean that before you have full speed for all 45 RAWs, camera does not slow down shooting frequency? 🙏
It means you can take 45 raw photos and the speed your camera allows for continuous shooting (let's say 10 frames per second) and then it has to process them for 25 seconds
I bought the sony tough cards and they would shut my imac down whenever I tried to use them, I contacted sony and they wouldn't do anything about it, so in the end I had to purchase a different make, not exactly good customer service from sony
I have a bunch of photos taken with my 7RM5 which take FOREVER to load on my iMac - now that I am watching your video it occurs to me it may be the card. How can I tell if it i the card, LR or the computer? 3:56
Do the photos load slow with the card connected to the computer? After you transferred the photos, are the photos still loading slow in LR and/or on the iMac?
@@Rocky_KO Thanks for the reply. Actually, I first usually use a card reader to copy the card to an external drive. I then import the photos to LR either from the external drive or the internal drive on the iMac. I think it may be the computer because I uploaded the same photos to my MacBook Pro & they were loading just fine. I am using Delkin 128GB cards mostly, some 64GB & I run duplicate slots.
It has it advantages though. One being ability to have it as reverse slot SD/CF-A - that is very convenient. Also CF-B cards produce way more heat, which could also be a major factor when designing current cameras for Sony
yeah, sorry for that - I mean that the write speed is the same like in the 95's that we had for years! They keep bumping the numbers on the front, which is sadly just a read speed
Awesome. Great info in less than 15 minutes. I finally learned a few things that I didn't quite understood before. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you, I received answers to all my questions, a very informative video.

that's a great price for 256GB V60 UHS2!

Thank you, this is invaluable information of your experience, and you also answered some question before I commence to use the camera.
Thank you! Almost nobody said this true!
which card would you use for time-lapse for astrophotography?
I use Sony Tough cards in my a7iv and Prograde cards (V90) in my A1. Prograde cards are quite good.
Thanks for guiding me
HI MAGIC
is that you Shwoer?
Using Lexar Professional 256GB V60, 250MB/s, but not real good for high end video. What would you recommend?
sir is lexar cf card is good
Just bought 2 angelbird 1tb cards.
My favourite part about it is when you camera shows that you have 9999 photos left to shoot on your card :)
super helpful, thanks!

Hey! Both need to be equally fast in order to clear the buffer
Hey brother, Could you please tell me what's the buffer size of a7r5 if you use V30 UHS1 SD card shooting Uncompressed RAW at 7fps... thanks
Hi, what about videography? the same?
Can I use cf express B cards? And what is the difference?
Nope. Different card
Hey Magic do you know if lightroom already supports sony raw Sony A7 RV files...Thank you for your help
It does! Since Dec 2022

Love the content. Super informative and useful
Glad to hear it!
i had one failure with sandisk card & 2 failures with lexar, with lexar sd backup card failed to record 40 photos, which i don't know why
Wich card you Recommended for the Sony A7CR?
If u live in China u can get many third-party CFeA cards with either 160Gb@720Mb/s or 512Gb@390Mb/s for 130 USD, or 1Tb@800Mb/s for 260 USD.
is the performance good on those?
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer They're just your normal daily CFeA cards. Stable and reliable.
Gracias!

ouch, that is bad! I have no problems with my Macbook Pro M1, but remember my old Blackmagic Video Recorder also not working with them
Thank you
Thank YOU!
Can you shoot directly to a SSD like the T7?
What do you think of ProGrade media SD UHS II ?
they should work just like my V60 cards, so you should be good to go!

I use Delkin Devices 128GB POWER UHS-II SDXC Memory Card wich is more expensive in iraq (150 $) 300 read /250 m write
I’m mad at Sony for not adding CF express type B card slots to Sony a1. Type A is ridiculously expensive and 2 times slower

100% agree. Something I really miss as I changed from Nikon. Nikon was absolutely right to start with XQD! But well Sony is just being Sony.
🤔🤐
The listing clearly shows 140Mb/s write speed, but you keep saying it’s been 90 for years 🥲

The write speed is clearly 140mb/s, not 90.
