Thank you for the video, I tried going through the engine bay but just couldn't seem to remove the light assemble. I bit the bullet and decided to remove the grill, which although methodical and a bit time consuming, it made my life easier. Like other comments, I didn't realise that you need to rotate the black plastic 'grips' so that the light fully seats in its correct position. Even with the light out, I couldn't rotate the clips with my fingers (I eventually used pliers), so I am not sure how that can be done if going in through the engine bay. My first attempt installing new globes was a bit of a disaster, because the new globes will sit in the space that they are supposed to be in but they didnt seat home, the light beams were pointing down. Removing the grill is in my opinion the best way and is quite easy.

Also if it helps anyone else, the air intake base can just be just pulled off the vertical fasteners with a little force after the filter etc is removed. wasn't sure of this at first but this greatly helped me access the driver side bulb.
That's crazy nobody is showing this I thank you I'm going to try it out cuz I've been having a hell of a time I thought I was supposed to turn the whole HID bulb and lock it into place I haven't even been trying that outer lock part that's crazy back to the drawing board hopefully I get it thank you
2 years later I am back here again , my cheap amazon bulbs died!! ....man this video is the rocking star , shows exactly how to change the D3S bulb in that small space :)))
When the headlamp is out of the vehicle is a piece of cake to change the bulb but with the headlamp in place is impossible without damaging the expensive bulb, the delicate xenon element is exposed and the small orifice is metallic, once the filament touches it, breaks.
i know how it feels...today i was trying but it is so tight cannot even reach to the clips...will try to remove air intake housing and get there through the top....
All the other videos never showed me, about the slide locking switch these lights are anightmare to get at and change, Without damaging the bulbs at $150.00 each be careful thanks for your great info.
@anthonyjegielski How does the light sit? Every time I push it in and push the left lever up to lock it (POV looking at the video), the bulb falls down. Can anyone help or chime in? Was out there for 2 hrs. Same like everyone else just watching videos till I found this one. Thank you.
About the only way to be this precise with it is to take the entire headlight off the Jeep, just came to say if any Jeep engineer is reading this you can go directly to hell for 1. not leaving enough room for a grown mans hand to be able to move into a spot that you know people have to access and 2. compared to other cars on the market I am convinced you designed this intentionally to be worse... 3. could you come up with a worse design, a bunch of random clips that are in not in any proper order that randomly come together and hold the bulb in place? Who the F signed off on that at Jeep? This is the reason I'll never own another one.

Why did I not find video sooner before I needed so many stitches and skin grafting.

@@victor_hugo250 I found a video that shows how to remove the fascia and grill, and it was easier, can be done in 2 hours or less.

Try pushing on the back of the bulb as you lock it in; that should keep it from popping out as you rotate the lever
