I saw them last night in Portland, Oregon play Nowhere in its entirety. I had waited 30 years to be near these boys. They were SO good. Just beautiful. I felt like an 18 year old in a 57 year old body. Ride remind me that there is so much right in front of us that we don't see. They take me away from this confining definition of ourselves as their music is bigger than disease, more powerful than hate and an affirmation of how we are all beautiful in an unknowable transcendent way. For over an hour last night I was flying with RIDE. Thank you Andy, Mark, Steve and Loz.
This is how all concert films should be. Beautiful, vibrant colors, and chaotic cinematography. This was one of the most enjoyable concerts I've watched. Wish there was more like it.
Wow just wow - what a find! Hard to believe they didn’t become one of the biggest bands in the world - they really had it all, just a few years too early?
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know a trick to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Brantley Bode thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
for almost 35 years I do regret that I've skipped Ride's gig on November 21st 1990 in Belgrade Yugoslavia due to the lack of info about this greatest band ever
I saw them when they first came to California, Los Angeles at this time. I had just thankfully graduated from high school and was in that zone for incredible, still incredible, music. I was so blown away by them. ♡♡♡♡
Ah, this is so good. I'm a drum and bass, myself. But look how Mark Gardner and Andy Bell actually fucking ATTACK their guitars throughout the concert, positively GBH'ing them. Loz is peerless too. Great upload, thanks fella. Nx
Saw Ride in Australia a few months after this concert. I was there for the main act (turned out to be a one-hit wonder). Have loved Ride ever since and got to see them again in Brisbane in 1992 headlining. Makes me feel 18 again.
Finally. Thank you so much. And now I have it downloaded. For me, this is the ultimate Ride live performance - only seen half of it once before. Thank you again for posting.
i saw them around this time, a few months before in Exeter, probably the best gig i've ever been too, i was only 15. actually felt like it put me in an altered state, was completely sober and by half way through just had my eyes closed and was feeling really blissful!!
Saw them twice: at Crystal Palace Bowl (supporting Pixies, supported by Cud and Green Day) in June ‘91 and at Slough (Richings Park, with Slowdive and 1000 yard Stare, IIRC) July ‘91. On both occasions, they were an exceptionally good live band. And their first four EPs and the ‘Nowhere’ LP were killer!
this brings it all back. Saw them Brighton in autumn 1990, probably best concert I've been to. It speaks volumes on the depth of their work that my favourite song is Paralysed and I only just realised they omitted it.
yes, seen a few people say the best gig they ever saw, best gig i ever saw too, was actually more like a transcendant spiritual experience then a concert.
i had just forgot that this was recorded 30 years ago. and the band, the crowds, are all in their late 40s or 50s by now. i was watching it so seriously i somehow thought this was some modern shoegaze band
Andy looks like he's been up for days on some psychedelic or dissociative. But it doesn't seem to affect his performance. At least not in a negative way.
I can't imagine a guitar band making it these days. nowadays you need to dance around on stage whilst wearing a sequined leotard, lip sync to canned music and have NO band on stage with you.
Yeah, he plays the bass line for "today" live because Steve does the atmospheric notes on the bass once they sing "last thing I remember", so Steve can't play the bass notes while he does that so thats what Mark is for. Mark just plays guitar like normal though on the original song recording. Steve also does the atmosphere string type sound on bass in the original song recording as well as the standard bass line.
As a 48 years old teenager, still gazing at his shoes, I thank you so much. Ride was - and still is - an essential band to me. Greetings from France.
Me too. 48. Saw them on the Nowhere tour. This band is what caused me to fall in love with music. Their music was so beautiful to me that it hurt.
