Went to redbird last month after your first video on them. Delicious. And I finally got to try Goldees last weekend after wanting to for a long time. Both delicious. You can tell Amir used to work at Goldees. Love them both equally. They make my favorite style of bbq. Can’t go wrong either way
My absolute favorite bbq on earth! Redbird has locked it in and continues to get better and better. Serious contenders for the top spot in Texas. Friday can't get here fast enough!
Ant, your cinematography and your BBQ insights keep getting better and better. Thank you for giving us a glimpse into places that some of us will never get to.
Hope to see them in the top ten soon if not number 1. Just all around perfect craft BBQ with the regional and personal twist that makes it stand out significantly. Love it.
I met Amir in line at Goldee’s while he was on his way to opening up his own place. Went to his pop ups in Fort Worth as well. SOLID dude and definitely will be in Texas monthly top 10. Can’t wait to take a trip to PN, TX!
I'm from Austin, but I can tell from this video that Redbird is better than any of the famous Central Texas BBQ joints. In most places, the sides are an afterthought and aren't any good. Same for the desserts. But Redbird nailed ALL of it. I wish it was nearby.
The best part of it is, this place is not in Central Texas (BBQ area of TX). This is practically Louisiana/Texas, and I think that flair makes it unique, and the flavors more bold (better and more character in my opinion)
theres def a standard for the meat, which a lot of places hit now thanks to places like Goldees sharing their knowledge. but i agree the sides are so important
In my opinion a lot of bbq joints have went down over last couple of years. So many people from other places are doing videos and of course it’s good to them but it makes things trend that way. Example, a while back people were trying to guess what Franklins was doing and came to conclusion it was all about tallow. So everyone started drowning their shit in tallow. And I’ve noticed it at so many places. People have gone over board with tallow and butter. If you have great meat with marbling or fat to render over doing it with so much tallow or butter just leaves crap on the pallet. Eating TX bbq my entire life I love it. But recently I’ve been disappointed specifically with a well known place I’ve enjoyed for years. Leaves me feeling like I ate grease off a spoon.
Okay since I’m your sister in law I’m gonna need you to take me there the next time you go! Haha All of that food looks amazing! 🤩 way to go, you are doing an amazing job!
Would think some kind of sesame/tahini based sauce would go with the fresh pita and persian sausage with some fresh garlic and lemon which would cut through the richness and add some much needed moisture. I think it's so sweet that the owner's dad made the bread!
that sounds amazing. it was the first week they put it on the menu (back in march), so maybe they have something like that now! they had so much family working there, moms, dad ,sister, wife, really cool family vibes there.
You should try the BBQ Links in Beaumont Texas… The links can only be found in this city and they are amazing. All BBQ restaurants in the city of Beaumont sale them and it is truly the king of any BBQ plate in Beaumont Texas “Beaumont Style BBQ Links”
All of their food is great! Too bad they didn't have the chocolate chip bread pudding for you to try, they make it with the dinner rolls. The whipped feta really makes the Koobideh pita shine.
I live in a small town in Canada and I want to try Texas BBQ like this so incredibly badly. I could eat that entire tray. If I planned a trip, where would I fly to? And if I hit, say, 5 BBQ places, which 5 should they be?
Haha man the more I do this the more I realize it’s so subjective. When I’m done and retired from this I could probably do an unranked top 50 and that would already be a challenge
@@AntsBBQCookout yeah I totally get that but it would be pretty cool for you to compose a list of all your favorites around the country. Texas monthly’s list is amazing but it’s only Texas. Getting a list of amazing bbq places elsewhere would be awesome too.
It’s good yes. Putting “Cajun” season on things does not make it Cajun. Yes I live here and have been there. If goldees uses the same season they will be the number 1 😂
This is exactly how my great grandpa used to prepare brisket in his small restaurant in West Texas back in the 1930s. He would smoke the meat for exactly 16 hours, and then he would finish the brisket by sticking the whole piece up his rear end hole for another two hours. It made it hard for him to walk, but it sure did add a lot of flavor.
Ant, Excellent review! However, I don't find it completely objective unless you are wearing the pink Ant hat!😂 Very professional, although I do miss they days of you eating with bbq sauce and debris all over your face while you were talking! 😂 I don't think anyone will hold it against you if you just skip the beans. Clearly, your wife, friends, and employees can get anything they want out of you if they bribe you with banana cream pudding!😂 Keep up the great content!👍
LOL way too hot for the pink hat! Going to do some bean training the next few months, gotta become the bean expert. thanks for watching as always, bro!
thanks for the feedback! footage was a little bright because it was outside and the sun kept coming out. but it doesnt look too bad on my 4k monitor, and havent heard anyone else bring it up. maybe the settings on whatever your watching it on need to be adjusted? idk
i somewhat agree for central texas bbq. theres some places that do it better than others from the spots i've been to. but the important parts should be all the same since it's all central texas bbq.
hahaha no beef rib is really good, i just cant justify buying it when imo brisket is better and cheaper. not a fan for those reasons. with corn and beans... yeah im weird lol
Make sure you like and share the video if you enjoyed it!

that goldees standard the brisket at bar a, red bird, barbs, and goldees is nearly identical. its crazy
My absolute favorite bbq on earth! Redbird has locked it in and continues to get better and better. Serious contenders for the top spot in Texas. Friday can't get here fast enough!
definitely! bbq sides and desserts are incredible, top 10 is an absolute lock and could absolutely go #1
Ant, your cinematography and your BBQ insights keep getting better and better. Thank you for giving us a glimpse into places that some of us will never get to.
My pleasure glad you’re enjoying it! Going to start a series very soon where I share what I learned so y’all can cook Texas bbq at home!
@@AntsBBQCookoutI will watch for it!!
Goldees is the first episode!
out of all 4, red bird deserves #1
pure grit and a menu that is extensive with a variety of unique flavors
class family and good people
string case can be made for red bird for sure. gonna be a crazy list next year, the top 10 is gonna be so tight
Hope to see them in the top ten soon if not number 1. Just all around perfect craft BBQ with the regional and personal twist that makes it stand out significantly. Love it.
That is some solid looking barbecue. The koobideh sausage sounds really interesting
I met Amir in line at Goldee’s while he was on his way to opening up his own place. Went to his pop ups in Fort Worth as well. SOLID dude and definitely will be in Texas monthly top 10. Can’t wait to take a trip to PN, TX!
Daniel is gonna have the hardest time with the list for sure this time around hahahaha

if you're in texas its worth a trip!
Wayyyyyyyyy better than central tx bbq
Ant - congratulations at 72.x subs. To the moon!! Love your content
Thank you for watching and supporting!
these videos are awesome mate. keep it up... can't wait to visit Texas next year fingers crossed
You had the best view in the house, straight view of the of my kids dirt bike track. Wish I coulda had the boys in the back riding lol
Hahaha oh man, I saw that set up. I bet the kids have a blast
The best part of it is, this place is not in Central Texas (BBQ area of TX). This is practically Louisiana/Texas, and I think that flair makes it unique, and the flavors more bold (better and more character in my opinion)
the food is definitely geared for that cajun palette, very unique and super delicious!
Iv always loved to look of the RedBird restaurant. They done a heck of a job on setting it up. So clean
100% biggest kitchen ive been too aswell. so much space, its amazing
I feel like the sides are what set these places apart and those sides look amazing. One day I’ll make it there.

Okay since I’m your sister in law I’m gonna need you to take me there the next time you go! Haha
All of that food looks amazing! 🤩 way to go, you are doing an amazing job!
lol next time for sure
love this channel, I feel like a little bit of that honey butter on the corn pudding would slapppp!
We might put a little on top after it gets out of the oven 😉 but that’s a secret!
oh man, thatd go crazy
The only down side of redbird is they dont have a close time, they are only open until theyre out of whatever they cooked the day before.
Would think some kind of sesame/tahini based sauce would go with the fresh pita and persian sausage with some fresh garlic and lemon which would cut through the richness and add some much needed moisture. I think it's so sweet that the owner's dad made the bread!

Me and my Dad went. It's definitely top notch. And we had that sausage. I think he said there was fresh mint in there.
Red Birds is the best. I try to go there every weekend.
The Condoleezza Rice cut was so good
hahaha that was a sleep deprived decision but glad you enjoyed it, was dying at 3am when i added it in
The first piece had a smiley face
lol nice
All of their food is great! Too bad they didn't have the chocolate chip bread pudding for you to try, they make it with the dinner rolls. The whipped feta really makes the Koobideh pita shine.
im gonna have to try both next time!
GOLDEES IS THE GOLD STANDARD ❤
💯💯💯
I was watching and just noticed you had the sonic battle adventure 2 soundtrack lmaoo
Have you been to pinkertons in san antonio? kickass ribs..
no i havent! would love to try the bbq in that area
im like 30 minutes from this joint and never knew it existed. Thanks youtube!
Corn pudding is one of my all time favorite sides
this corn pudding was incredible, and thats coming from someone who doesnt really like corn
Redbirds banana pudding was so good it made Ant’s mouth squirt 14:26 hahaha
FIRE 💥💥💥
🔥🔥🔥
I will say this with my whole chest… Ant’s channel is the best on TH-cam.
wow, you're too kind hahaha
I felt that comment! Best BBQ documentary channel on TH-cam!
I live in a small town in Canada and I want to try Texas BBQ like this so incredibly badly. I could eat that entire tray. If I planned a trip, where would I fly to? And if I hit, say, 5 BBQ places, which 5 should they be?
look up the texas monthly top 50 list from 2021 any of those joints youll find incredible bbq
Mmmmmm looks so tasty.
...the food looks good too!

Can you do a video on Pinkertons BBQ in Houston?
would love to, planning to go to houston near the end of the year to work with Truth, can maybe stop by during that trip if time allows
@@AntsBBQCookout awesome! you can’t miss out on Pinkertons lol
Beautiful looking beef rib ❤❤
Yeah all the food was cooked so well, that beef rib was a beaut!
Ohhhhhh and their smash burgers are fire too!
Yep! Really good, I reviewed it in the documentary I did at Red Bird :)
@@AntsBBQCookout Oh I did watch that just realized it's the same channel. Subscribing now!

@9:24 THAT NACHO LIBRE PART OF THE VIDEO WAS THE MOST HILARIOUS PART OF THE WHOLE VIDEO WHEN YOU HAD TO TAPP OUT AND B!T©H OUT CAUSE "I'M NOT A BEAN EATER" WHILE HAVING THAT TYPICAL "BROWN BEANER FACE FEATURE" AND I DON'T EAT OR LIKE THEM LMFMAO GREAT VIDEO OVER ALL LOL
I would love to get an Ants top 50 list of all the spots you’re tried.

8:20 BLOOD FOR BLOOD TATTOO IYKYK
If I may ask, how much was the full BBQ tray?
it cost me 1 BBQ story 💀
Ant you used a knife for the beef rib!! 😂
Haha I was sharing with Bryan. Try to be clean because I can’t eat the whole tray on my own lol
Cool!
great review. I would like to see ALL reviewers take a portion of each component as to seeing an entire platter go to waste for the purpose of a video
thats the bad thing about these videos, a lot of wasted food.. but doesnt stop me from trying to finish it haha
🤔 Eat your colors 1st, bright colors so won’t get full, dark colors last to get a full stomach ✅
Redbird BBQ is a 10...as others have said, you can see the Goldee's influence...Amir and the crew might've done it better too 👀
hahaha next years list is gonna go crazy. trying to get videos with the last top 5 before the list drops
Dude have some Q with your pudding! :)
I got a couple more puddings for the hotel before I left hahaha
Not the pumpkin hill from sonic the hedgehog song in the background…
great ear, and taste 🫰
It’s good yes. Putting “Cajun” season on things does not make it Cajun. Yes I live here and have been there. If goldees uses the same season they will be the number 1 😂
I have not been able to find anyone to tell me why everyone cuts sausage at an angle.
I HEARD PUMPKIN HILL
yep 😁
Why you not eat beans? just curious
texture lol im gonna do some bean training during this offseason, no worries 😤
This is exactly how my great grandpa used to prepare brisket in his small restaurant in West Texas back in the 1930s. not the forbidden dutch oven 🗿
I'm dry aging one up there now.
Good video but f the closed captioning. If I wanted captions, I’d turn them on. F Mr beast for thinking this helps maintain viewership
not about viewership. i didn't put on the lapel mic, so the audio is kinda trash. takes forever, to do subtitles, so i hate it too haha

That was a killer looking tray! Great video!
thanks!
Saturation and the highlight is a bit harsh. Colors are off
thanks for the feedback! footage was a little bright because it was outside and the sun kept coming out. but it doesnt look too bad on my 4k monitor, and havent heard anyone else bring it up. maybe the settings on whatever your watching it on need to be adjusted? idk
@AntsBBQCookout it's just so red. Like the saturation was turned up. Great video tho
I noticed they wrap the brisket in foil instead of paper. How was the bark? You talk a lot about the flavor.
bark was great! kinda hard to describe, but its really soft but not mushy. textbook top 10 TM brisket texture if that makes sense
Doesnt like beef rib = unfollow
D:
It’s by far the worst thing on a bbq tray
Facts
One million BBQ places in Texas since Cali moved over
Looks like all Texas bbq taste same minus 1 or 3 ingredients. Which is same really
i somewhat agree for central texas bbq. theres some places that do it better than others from the spots i've been to. but the important parts should be all the same since it's all central texas bbq.
these ones? lmao.
how you gonna critique food and not like beef ribs, corn or beans..??
Have you heard of wrights bbq in Arkansas? Best ever.
never, ill look them up! thanks
Damn transplants destroyed BBQ prices for us Texans
So let me get this straight you don’t like beef, ribs, corn, or baked beans SMH I’m starting to wonder about you, Ant
hahaha no beef rib is really good, i just cant justify buying it when imo brisket is better and cheaper. not a fan for those reasons. with corn and beans... yeah im weird lol
