2001 Honda 400ex starts and runs after sitting for over 10 years!!! This quad broke around 2005 or 2006 and has been sitting around in the previous owners barn until Caleb bought it for $800 in 2016 as a non-running project quad. It then sat another year until he got it going in 2017, but this thing was a solid find! He also does some solid jumps, wheelies, and drifting with it!

Paulean Collett there's a cable well if yours has it, and you plug like a battery there and then it'll spark it and may run. My friend used to have dirt bike like that and we started with that method

Perfect example: look at all the old thirty year old three wheelers still running MINT condition. Where I live I can count atleast 20 which have had the shit beat out of em and they're still running BETTER then the day they came out of the shop

I got a free trx300, and gave it a valve adjustment and a sparkplug and it fired first kick!

I got my 85 xr600 for $800 it ran but poorly, I tuned it now it's perfect it out runs most bikes and atvs absolutely a steal I love it
I just got my 2003 400ex running and I only paid a grand. Cool seeing others keeping the Honda’s running
I just picked up a 2005 400ex for $600. It didn't run when I bought it, so I brought it home drained some old fuel, swapped out the spark plug, cleaned out the carb and it started right up. I'm pretty happy with my purchase. It even has some aftermarket goodies already.
My 1987 lt250r was sitting for a little over 10 years when I found it in a barn. Now it's fully restored back to health

I have a 2000 that sat in a friends garage up at his cabin for ten years. We just put a new battery, oil, and fresh gas in it and it fired up in just a few tries. Ran a little seafoam through it and it's running like new.

I had the same 400ex, it was the only yellow one in Pgh from 01 to 02, it beat the fuck out of my back, killed my body.. loved it tho... Finally in 2010 I got a 09 Special Edition Raptor 700, it was like riding a Caddy the difference in the suspension between them few years is unbelievable.. have fun fellas!! Make sure you soak in the tub after riding that beast all day long...

Adjust your vales man, I can here em clapping pretty loud. .004in for the intake and .005in for the exhaust. You'll have more power and I guarantee that's why it quit running on the guy you bought it from. He'll of a deal though man!

when i want to roll start my quad, i put it in reverse, put my foot on the tire, and pull the tire toward me. starts up single person. hope it helps. (using the sort of racing cart belt start idea)

I just bout an 02 Trx400 for $200. It’s been sitting for 3 years. It’s hydrolocked and the starter is fried but I think it’ll fire up after I get that all taken care of an a little carb work

You guys need to put a full Yoshimura Exhaust system on the 400EX! My dad has that system on his 400EX and it sounds so powerful when he rips it up! It sounds way better than the stock system you have on your 400EX Currently.

Ben White well if you have any mechanical knowledge, (in your spelling, that doesn't show it) valves tick when they're not adjusted fully. Plus most of their quads need to have their valves adjusted, that's why they tick.

Valves were adjusted on exhaust stroke not power stroke. Turn crank 180 and readjust

most reliable quad ever built, it can and will take all the abuse you can throw at it iv had mine for 10 plus years and iv not been nice to it.
u need to but tire on it and fix the plastic and sell it for about 1700 to 2000
