9:19 when you're saving settings, you don't need to move the dial. If the dial is on C1 and you want to change the settings for C2, you simply save it via the menu system, and when you switch the dial to C2, the new settings will be there.
I watched a lot of these type of videos. This probably the best one I've seen. Straight to the point and no BS. I don't film in 10 bit because it takes too much processing power in post edit.
Useful video. Thanks. For future guides like this, I highly recommend giving instructions as if someone is not watching exactly what you're doing because they're probably not. They're probably looking at their menu trying to follow along. So instead of saying "we are going to go here and select this" you need to say "we are now choosing the record quality and selecting 1920x1080 25p" or whatever.
Came back to this video after many years. Thanks for sharing this. Love the look of your footage. I've been a huge fan of GH5 and still use them in our Wedding filmmaking! :)
Fellow Metabones to GH5'er here - You can control the IBIS and also switch on IS Lock when needed with using any EF lens. A lot of times it requires holding down the metabones button on start up to have those features on. I would highly recommend AGAINST E-Stabilization as my results have produced jittery and crappy "warp stabilization" like results.
Very Good. I'm going out now to try your settings. I'm looking forward. I know the camera and my default settings very well so it should be interesting.
Awesome tutorial very detailed i will try these settings out. Bought your LUT pack and loving it so far! Thanks for your work its helped me a lot with my Gh5
I tried the 24Hz Cinema Mode before and the footage does look really good (cinematic), however, I had a bad experience with syncing audio with any device that was not set to that 24Hz frequency setting. (i.e. an external HD recorder) For some reason that "Cinema Mode 24Hz freq" doesn't match audio running at different frequencies or other cameras that are not set to the same Cinema Mode 24Hz freq. In other words...make sure every camera is set to Cinema Mode so you don't experience sync problems in post. External HD audio devices don't have a Cinema Mode 24Hz so you will run into sync issues in that situation.

2:04 is 4K 24 actually, right? It's taken me 10 minutes to get to that point cuz I can't set frequency to 24 and then have the option to set the variable frame rate. Maybe there's been an update?
Hello Ryan and thank for your profesional work. 1 question. How to get idea of what our color and lighting set up look like on screen, when we shoot on Cinelike D and everyrhing looks prety much grey with no contrast at all on our fliping screen?
.MOV if using MAC, .MP4 if using windows recommended. 4K setting 24p is fine if you want 4K 60 with sound then set the quality setting to 4k 60 150 I believe.
YOu need to save the Movie to C1 first. He did not cover that part. Just copy original setting to C1 then modified and then save it to C1 again. Same for C2 and C2 just copy the same profile to it and tweak the changes to it.

@@kevinwesleychung Yes, you just set the to MP4 and then set the video settings to 4K 60P setting, don't use variable frame rate option for this. Generally shooting 24p is fine. Idk why Ryan said to set it in a slow mo 60 while in 4K. That was weird.
Great tips! Do you ever have a problem with micro jitters showing up in your footage while panning with the GH5? I can't seem to stop it from happening regardless of my stabilizer settings.
If I am not really careful while shooting I definitely get those. I use my cameras strap around my shoulder to stabilize the camera as I make movements and this works really well. I really really make sure to have a solid stance and keep the camera as level as possible when shooting to avoid those

good stuff, never saw or thought of setting it at the 24 frq. cinema then doing the VFR to get to the 60 at the 59 NTSC I can set the Frame rate at 60 4k in that setting. what is the difference? thanks
can i have 4k and 60 fps and still have autofocus? and how can i do that? apparently autofocus doesnt work with variable frame rate on. and without variable framerate i cant get 60 fps right?
24 hz setting fucked me hard. why in the world would you use that. everyone buys this camera over competition because of its high fps and overall good video recording specs and u nerf it to 24 fps?! i have wasted 3 hours creating profiles on 24hz. couldnt figure out whats the problem with autofocus / 60 fps thing. once i changed to 59 hz all profiles i made were gone. absolute waste of time.
Just tested it and watched it directly on GH5. I saw no difference with the PAL in 25FPS. Don’t think there is a huge difference between 24fps and 25FPS. If someone can give his input...
Definitely shoot in PAL if you live in Europe & the UK - you never know which projects will feature in-door scenes, and you'll never be able to get rid of the flicker in post if you're shooting NTSC. If it's outside only shooting really you can decide which you prefer.
I followed these settings yesterday. They worked great. But I was experiencing a couple of hiccups that I wasn't sure how to rectify. I chalked it up to something I'd changed in the past and forgotten about. So I decided to do a factory reset and try these settings out again. But now when I change my system frequency to 24Hz and then go to Rec Quality, I only have 3 options to choose from. They're all FHD. No 4k options. What have I screwed up now?

Noise reduction has nothing to do with getting a more "cinematic look"

Is it because the lens is so wide that the internal stabilisation cannot really keep up with the width and therefore creates weird wrap? It does seem fine on gimbal though
Hi, I'm using pretty much the same settings. But when I pan I'll get a very bad flicker. Can you help me with that problem ?
I try to set custom 2 settings on gh5 but the problem is that i have no video settings when i set c2, it is possible to set only photo settings in this mode.
Today i realized how to do it.
very helpful
Cheers!
good stuff, never saw or thought of setting it at the 24 frq. cinema then doing the VFR to get to the 60 at the 59 NTSC I can set the Frame rate at 60 4k in that setting. what is the difference? thanks
What type of lens ?
can i have 4k and 60 fps and still have autofocus? and how can i do that? apparently autofocus doesnt work with variable frame rate on. and without variable framerate i cant get 60 fps right?
24 hz setting fucked me hard. why in the world would you use that. everyone buys this camera over competition because of its high fps and overall good video recording specs and u nerf it to 24 fps?! i have wasted 3 hours creating profiles on 24hz. couldnt figure out whats the problem with autofocus / 60 fps thing. once i changed to 59 hz all profiles i made were gone. absolute waste of time.
Is 24hz a good option if you live in EU where the lightbulbs works different? is there going to be flickering when recording lightbulbs?
yeah I wanna know to :)
Any update would be appreciated
Just tested it and watched it directly on GH5.
I saw no difference with the PAL in 25FPS.
Don’t think there is a huge difference between 24fps and 25FPS.
If someone can give his input...
Definitely shoot in PAL if you live in Europe & the UK - you never know which projects will feature in-door scenes, and you'll never be able to get rid of the flicker in post if you're shooting NTSC. If it's outside only shooting really you can decide which you prefer.
Why is there no sound input possible with the C1 setting?

I followed these settings yesterday. They worked great. But I was experiencing a couple of hiccups that I wasn't sure how to rectify. I chalked it up to something I'd changed in the past and forgotten about. So I decided to do a factory reset and try these settings out again. But now when I change my system frequency to 24Hz and then go to Rec Quality, I only have 3 options to choose from. They're all FHD. No 4k options. What have I screwed up now?
this is exactly what happened to me and I have no Idea what to do there is no 4k at 60fps and you can't do a whole bunch of other things as well
My framerate is displayed differently on my LCD screen. Can I change that to, so it's easier for me to see the numbers?
Yes I think you can change that. Go to settings > Live View Mode > and there you can set it to 30 or 60 fps.
@@SamuelLetsch is that the way you change the size of the displayed info? I think that's what he meant...
Go to the "c wrench" menu...then "monitor/display" then "video-priority display" set it to ON... Done!
