    There was a 1500 bought new by a contractor down the road here in Meath around 1983/84. Used to do a sight of work. Done a lot of mowing round Dublin in the Phoenix park and the airport. Done a lot of of waste haulage too. There was an extra gear that was blanked off from the factory, when she was taken off yourman that used to drive it reckoned she done up to 80kph. It was sold off around 1999. Its now residing in Cork last i checked. A fine machine. A friend of mine has 2, a 1300 and a 1500, still earning their keep. Excellent video as always.

    Great video. I remember the MB Trac, I didn’t know the details and presumed there was only one model. Great research and presentation. Thank you. Keep up the good work.

    I have fond memories of driving my uncle's 50 hour MB Trac 1000 with 60 kph on the road. It was very comfortable. He was at the hospital at the time and didn't know. I was 21

    Great video, you should do one on the Nuffield/Leyland tractors,I always found it interesting that lorry engines where able to fit pretty much straight into them, or so my dad tells me.

    MB Tracs came to Australia but they were never thick on the ground. They fell into the category of too expensive, too complicated .and impossible to fix. The same as every tractor today. Jeff

    Very interesting video i was in England for a while they were popular enough, pity they stopped making them as they would be some machine today.

      Yes they were very popular in the UK, and still are !! And yes, a big pity they discontinued them, I'm sure they would be some machine today. Thanks for watching 👍

    Well I’ll take my hat off to you, that’s a really good run down of the history 👍 there was a 1400 turbo but I’ve not seen one in the uk (maybe Europe only). The 1100 was on the large chassis to start then went to the medium. Nothings easy with merc 😆 you should do a mog one! That will be a rabbit hole! I’ve a 1300 443 parrot nose that’s full spec and according to the chassis is one of the last 14 to be built before the om366 were brought out. There’s a fair few vids on her on my channel as no one else seems to make vids lol

      @@AgrimotiveFarmMachinery I think I’m probably just a bit sad 🤣. I love unimogs as much as MB trac as I had 2 406s before the trac. One thing I’ve not really got my head round was Doppstadt bought the rights to the MB trac but not sure what the WF relationship was 🤷‍♂️

    • @AgrimotiveFarmMachinery

      Yep, I have my PPL. C152 and 172 . Don't get up as much as I'd like too though. I worked for Lufthansa Technik in Rathcoole back in the day, overhauling P+W JT8D turbofan jet engines, so I'm a big aviation geek as well as an agri one 🤣

    • @FlyingFergyMan

      Very good, same here have SEP rating looking to do my night rating. Biggest issue these days is the cost, so much more expensive now that it was just a few years back.

    • @AgrimotiveFarmMachinery

      Yeah the cost is the biggest barrier, it was €145 when I started, well over 200 now. I had great plans around 2007 to do the ATPL but the banks pulled my finance when the financial crash came. Anyway, I think I prefer the Cessna 😂

    Apparently the 1800 was not produced by MB itself, but by another company.

    • @AgrimotiveFarmMachinery

      Not so sure. It was definitely built in the MB factory in Gaggenau

      Yes, 1800 is a 1600 with an intercooled turbo charge system to get it to 180 hp

    • @ursinodepeluche

      Some authorized Mercedes-Benz service partners, located in Karlsruhe and Luebeck, “build” the 1800 intercooler, by modifying MB trac 1600 turbo.

    • @AgrimotiveFarmMachinery

      Yes most likely, he didnt own it though, it belonged to Peter Timmons of Meath Farm Machinery . Late 80's early 90's.. 👍

  • @kdm6287

    Claas in the 60's or 70's came up with the idea first. MB asked for the rights and went from there.

    • @AgrimotiveFarmMachinery

      Was that not a different project?.❓️It was my belief that CLAAS engineers had spent the four years from 1968 to 1972 making subtle modifications to a CLAAS tractor model, to be distributed in collaboration with Daimler-Benz and produced by CLAAS. However, the partnership did not proceed, and, as part of a savings programme at the time, the project had to be put on ice. The MB trac was derived from the Unimog that had been produced since the 1940's

    • @kdm6287

      @AgrimotiveFarmMachinery not sure, all I know was back in 2000 I was on a Claas tour of the factory and we spotted a mid cab tractor with front suspension and asked what it was. The guid said it was a prototype they had come up with. It had a MB engine, and MB tuck a shine to the idea and the either bought or were given the idea from Claas the MB track was born. I'll have to look it up but I might have a photo of it.

    • @AgrimotiveFarmMachinery

      @kdm6287 Yeah, I knew about that one. That was the joint project that was shelved, and MB went alone. Thanks 👍
