Welcome back Steve, good to see you on the flipside of the pandemic. The leather case of the cooker looks pretty nice and robust. Looks very tasty Quite a peacefull and relaxing watch.
The great thing with the Bushbox Stoves, you don't leave a scorched mark on the ground! So no problem there. I can attest to that! I've used my XL bushbox many times and I have never left a mark on the ground.
Hi Mark I don't have a map I'm afraid. I think it's just a case of trying to see whats about in your area. I use google maps quite a bit and have found a couple of deserted woodlands that have worked out well. Tried approaching farmers but they were very negative, almost aggressive to the idea, even in their own neglected woods!! Stealth wild camping always works well, just a case of arrive after dark and leave very early, but you don't always want to do that... Good luck and ATB, Steve
Hi Mark, Just as a further bit of info following on from Steve's comment, wild camping in England isn't strictly legal but I don't think it's illegal either. It's all about keeping stealthy in England for wild camping. That said, wild camping is OK in Dartmoor and the Lake District but do a quick bit of research online as there are local conditions to adhere to. As far as I'm aware, wild camping is legal in Wales and Scotland. Hope this helps!
@@MrLooj69 If it isn't "strictly legal", I'm pretty sure that makes it technically illegal. As further evidenced by the advice of 'don't get caught'. In other words, if it's not in your private back garden, it's illegal in all but a few select resort locales. What a ridiculous arrangement. Not harping on you, my friend, but the UK (England especially) seems like such an oppressive nanny state to the point where almost ANY alternative lifestyle, and even many forms of recreation (normal everywhere else in the world) are forbidden.
I have the smaller steel(?) version Steve. Indeed a good bit of kit. Enjoy the outdoors while you still can because the second Covid wave is on its way, well here in Belgium it is anyway. Stay safe and healthy.
This looks Sooo Good I have to try doing this one day, Still havnt done a woodland wild camp yet but its on my list of wild camp places to sleep, you cant beat steak and chips, subscribed Keep safe and well, Les.
@@TheWrinklyNomads oh I do love wild camping but only been in the mountain to date but a woodland camp is what I haven't done yet but I just need to find the right place to do my first camp amongst the Trees.
Love the video 🥰 what kind of kettle did you use to boil the potatoes (with the long thin handle)? I am thinking that this would be fantastic stove to cook soup/stews on. Do you have a pot in mind suitable for Backpacking to cook soup/stew?
Hi Matthew, I used a 16cm Billy Can: amzn.to/3dcsC5g But I have modified it by removing the solid handle and fitting a wire hanging handle instead. They do several different diameter ones which would be suitable for stews as well. They are very good pots for bushcraft. Hope this helps ATB, Steve
Great video! a well paced, relaxed and very informative vid, subscribed. I was going to go for one of the many cheap Bush boxes, but sometimes it's worth paying for quality and engineering! would you recommend the xl over the lf, as i like yourself, love cooking outdoors! thanks, take care.
Thank you Dan, For a day hike I'd go for the LF, but anything longer I would take the XL Titanium. That extra bit of size any larger fire box makes thing more comfortable for longer stays. ATB, Steve
Hello Steve hope you and the family are well , to be honest I'm not a fan of the Bush box I much prefer an open fire for cooking and heat I find that my food is cooked more thoroughly on an open fire or that could just be me how I don't scorch the woodland floor is I cut a square of earth 3"deep by 20"square then line it with stone when finished replace the earth back on top then cover with leaves and debris no trace ,interesting video as always steve thanks for sharing and stay safe
Hi Norman, Yes, I agree, you can't beat an open camp fire... This was more of a day trip. I try to use the bushbox as often as possible as it's something that takes a bit of getting used to for cooking on. This titanium one is really good and light though for its size. I got the extra base plate stand as well as the leather pouch, with is a lovely bit of kit and worth the extra I think. ATB, Steve
the only design flaw is it should have holes in the feet (in my opinion) to peg it down, or fix it still. Other than that this is my number 1 stove of choice!
😆 It's not my fence... It runs along the perimeter of someones land for about 200 mtrs. and they back on the woods. Although I wouldn't mind having it as my house with about 30 acre of woodland at the end. ATB, Steve

I see that you see what's outdoors, the foxgloves, the rotten stumps, love the bush box, great cook, thanks.
I now have titanium Bushbox XL lust lol 😂 Thanks so much for your review....another thing to add to my list 😀
I know what you mean..!
I’m the same. Must stop looking at new kit.
