There were some audio issues at one section of the video it was like a couple of settings. I just wanted to point it out other than that absolutely great video, i expected nothing less from one of the best linux/tech youtubers.
I just got into fedora a year ago and thought I was set...until I watched this video that showed I missed quite a lot of steps in the new fedora 41 lol
Thank you very much for your videos! As a complement I was able to install the cachyos kernel (as indicated on the copr page) on fedora 41 Kinoite and without any conflict with the Nvidia drivers from RPM Fusion.
No issues with secured boot when installing nvidia driver? Someone can confirm installing driver this way works. I am after 2 attempts from other vids...
@@Mattscreative I followed the steps to change the kernel, everything went fine, but when I boot up, I always get a hardware error screen. The GRUB screen doesn’t appear, but after a few seconds, it boots with the Cachy kernel. However, the GRUB screen doesn’t show up for me. ''linux hardware error cpu 0 machine check''
Something I didn't understand is that after installing the Nvidia drive your way, how do I update the drive? Is it through dnf? Also, wasn't there an application that allowed you to install/update the nvidia drive? What's the difference between using that application with an interface or using the command line? Does the application use akmods? Now about cachyos, how is it updated after installation? Is it also through dnf? My fear is that just after installing things, I don't have a method to simply update the different things properly. That is, if it's only afterwards that you need to update everything with just a command or two, that's fine, but having to go through the process of downloading or building everything manually could become complicated or problematic. Finally, what's the difference between downloading applications in KDE's "Discovery" application or GNOME's "Software" application? What's the difference between downloading applications in the terminal or in the application of each Desktop Environment? Aren't the repositories the same? Thanks for the video. I want to go for Fedora but these little doubts are putting me off.
you re-run a new .run and thats it and cachyos kernel is handled the the package manager also n to discover and no to gnome software they can break your install so install warehouse for flatpaks and use the terminal or find a gui package manager for everything else
Nice video! Will there be any conflict as far as the updater though?? I mean when you change the kernel , should you do that every time there is update for catchy os kernel? Or the command nobara-sync updates the kernel automatically?
are the nvidia open drivers back to where they should be on ipc heavy games? you mentioned switching back to closed on arch bc of performance loss. is that still a thing?
@Mattscreative cool and now I know how to avoid borking pacman when switching 🤣 thanks again for the help. I think it's cause I did an Syu without restarting prior to removing the open drivers
You are doing wonders! Just a couple of questions as a noob: 1) is the cachyos kernel replacing fedora kernel or integrating optimisations into it? I don't get how it works.. 2) everywhere they say to install nvidia via rpm fusion, what's the benefit of get them directly like you did? Many thanks! keep up with fedora, i am just transitioning from popos, and I want fedora to be my daily driver from now on.
@@pichagi what ... I don’t understand why are you comparing Fedora to arch Linux ? This guide is for people who want to run Fedora and have the optimizations of cachyos. It’s not to replace cachyos. It’s completely different.

I simply do not understand Fedora. They are supposed to be testing ground for RHEL and yet their Nvidia support is so awful. Most other distributions have no issues enabling dkms with their packaged Nvidia drivers. Nvidia has supported this for years now.
