After many lovely years on TH-cam I recently got a warning from them that I could lose my account because of “hate speech”. I have no idea where the algorithm gets that from. TH-cam is slipping badly.
You are absolutely right! We should all use our wonderful knowledge and fabulous photography equipment to CAPTURE MEMORIES! Momentous candids! Endearing moments! Stunning beauty! Visual stories! ENJOY!
In facebook gotten worse. They penalized me for a post of 2020 and, they say it was copyright for music playing in a car driving by. This algorithms are becoming too woke
Hate speech… oh my. I hope you were able to dispute it and talk to TH-cam rep directly. I had to contact them last year a few times myself. Well enjoy your Camera and have amazing upcoming weekend

Zdenka this is a wake-up call video. Since day one on the TH-cam platform I have never relied on the TH-cam cheque. It’s taken me three years to work out that I can make proper money from designing T-shirts, mugs, etc. However, creating a TH-cam channel and then a store was the catalyst for this designing. One, would not have followed the other without my channel. Right now I am sitting with a range of new designs for my shop that I haven’t uploaded to the youtube store. I’ve come to realise I can make more money selling my new designs in other ways than on TH-cam and with greater margins. I have 42K followers on TH-cam. I love creating content for it. One thing that baffles me though, is how I can make more money from add revenue posting once every 12 days than three times a week as I did at Christmas just gone. Christmas like the one before for add revenue was woeful. I made more money in the previous three quarters of 2023 .. than Christmas. So for the last month I’ve posted nothing to gage all the metrics that apply to my channel. My conclusion is this.. if you want to make proper money, it’s not going to come from add revenue. So my channel is really a catalyst for driving my designs. So my take away from my research and this video, is work smarter rather than harder.

I totally get this. My channel went from 1K subs a little over a year ago to 600K now. I have went up down and back again in income. Bottom line: YT wants me to make a GREAT video every week plus a couple great shorts if possible. I get paid to make a GREAT video about once per month. I have been pressured by YT suggestions to make videos about subjects I'm not interested in. YT doesn't respect my subs. Subbing means nothing to YT. My subs say in comments "Where have you been?" I bring my own audience to YT and YT takes them away if they pass up a video or two of mine they will never see one again unless they go looking for me again. There is only 2 reasons to do anything #1 TO GET PAID PLENTY or #2 FOR FUN AND ENJOYMENT. I'm not getting either when I try to meet what YT wants from me. So, now I am making only the videos I want, when I want, like I did in the beginning.

Yep...I quit trying to follow the latest youtube trends and algorithm b.s. this last year on my channel, and you know what...I had more fun and my videos were better and I felt I really grew as a creator. 5 years and still under 1k subs and I really don't care anymore. Bottom line is at the end of the day, I'm doing it for myself and capturing memories for me. Yeah eventually I do want to hit 1k subs just to say I did it, but as far as ever thinking I will make money off my channel I don't care anymore. I do like that people watch that's nice...but my main goal is no longer chasing views or numbers. Thank you so much for validating what I have been feeling over the last year (2023). You rock.

My goal has always been to create little films that show how beautiful and transformative a garden can be and to try to create the experience for them. Thank you for this wisdom! I am a fairly new TH-camr having started August 2023 and I have been completely confused lately. I got monetized in November. Several of my videos went through the roof and gave me so much encouragement but since then I’m getting so little views I don’t understand what happened. I’ve done everything I know to do, watched many training videos, upgraded and improved the quality of my videos and done everything I know to do. And yet still, very little views. This video was very informative and at least I know it’s just not all me. There are other factors at play. I will take all this to heart, pray about it, and decide my future plans on TH-cam. Girl I never met your channel until now. And I am so glad that TH-cam did something right by suggesting your channel to me because everything you said makes perfectly good sense I am in the same boat and have been on TH-cam for many years, but didn’t start taking it seriously until two years ago, and now I noticed a drastic change in ad revenue, but you made it make sense even after contacting TH-cam support and them telling me nothing changed thinking to myself. Are you kidding me? Like one of your other viewers said this was a wake up call and your suggestions is something that I started doing recently. Knowing that with each video I have to try to cover my production cost I wasn’t aware that Amazon changed their program. I am an Amazon influencer, which is different from theAmazon affiliate program. Did you mean the same thing about the payout percentage? Because some people are just affiliates and haven’t gotten approved for the influencer status. Thanks for being so authentic I know it doesn’t pay the bills but I appreciate it.
Thank you so much for your comment. I am affiliate and yes that drastically dropped over the years. TH-cam ads revenue dropped because they took lots of money for shorts.. but shorts are not worth it and actually hurt channel too

Thanks for sharing. I liked your discussion about family life. Maintaining a TH-cam channel in your younger years vs when you have family obligations is completely different and something not a lot of people talk about. There's not much free time after cooking, cleaning, getting the kids ready for bed, and other chores. And it's not just time, but energy management. Great topic.

Thank you for sharing this! I feel like your life has similar aspects to mine except that I’m skateboarding instead of hip hop. 😊 But I also had a heart attack 14 months ago. That story touched me. I also have a photo looking outside from my hospital room. I have been examining my TH-cam purpose since then. I’m still not sure of the answers I seek and I ask myself daily if it’s worth it or if I should just quit the production hamster wheel and just create for the joy and just ‘be’ especially since I’m not doing this for the money anymore. But I come from two immigrant families where work and production are important values. So it’s hard to quit. But I’m getting close. Change definitely needs to happen.

Zdenka, thank you for this video, it truly resonates. While I am not a TH-cam creator, I am also a photographer and the changes you bring up truly resonate. Having moved around a few times, and having children, stock photography was what gave me the flexibiliy in time and space that I needed. (..and boy things have not been the same these past few years!) I also relate to your exhaustion with driving your children around (I was a child in Hungary but raised my kids in Canada, so I have personaly lived the enormous difference in expectations that fall on parents - in my experince honestly moslty on moms). I have also recently lamented that I miss the kind of photography that is truly organic to ourselves, without the "commercial" eye. I love your videos and the voice you bring to photography and video creation. I came across your channel when I was searching for a gimbal for my iPhone; your clarity and style have won me over and I have become an instant subscriber.

My life takes a different path. I focus on photography and videography solely for the purpose of capturing memories, both mine and those of the elderly individuals I care for in a nursing home. Occasionally, I also create content for social media platforms.

You nailed it. TH-cam has drastically changed so it is necessary to have a different approach. Things have also changed in my personal life and it is time for me to give up on certain things and start focusing on my own happiness. One way is creating more real, authentic not so over complicated videos… and of course adjust my personal life as well as certain people can really work you right down to the ground

I have a small niche channel, less than 600 subs. I've really done less videos because I felt pressure to create. Shooting is easier, it's editing and posting and reading comments and responding. I'm just wondering if it's worthwhile in the great scheme of things.
You are very welcome. For me it was absolutely worth a while because it allows me to complete freedom when it comes to taking care of my family. I need to drop things and just go I can. It is a lot of work, but the flexibility is priceless.

Dancing…., 🤣 they want me to go on the stage at the end of this school year. That will be a whole another level of a challengeof a challenge for me. Right now I don’t know how I’m gonna get there. Thank you for the years of teaching and entertainment. I am 73 now and don’t get out as much as I used to with my camera but I’m still hanging in there and use my DJI pocket 3 and my iPhone 15ProMax when possible. You asked me a question some time ago about my preference to Filmic Pro and the then new Blackmagic app. I told you I liked Filmic pro better. That has since changed and I don’t know how I would get along without the Blackmagic App.

I'm in Toronto and a full time creator. It's a HUSTLE! My love for creating youtube videos has been replaced with chasing brand deals for UGC videos, Amazon shoppable videos etc. etc. etc. It keeps you busy. I might have to hire people to help with the content as I can't do it all alone.

I agree with you on everything you said. Sometimes we tend to become fixated on the technology of worldly things and what’s the next new thing to come out and in the process we lose (or rather forget) our natural roots and who we are (or were) before all of the technology entered our lives and became our lifestyles. I feel the same way as you do many times, between personal life matters, family and other things that I deem much more important to me outside of the world of YT and Social Media... I think the key here is to find peace within first and then happiness, success and everything else will follow. The final question should be, is it all truly worth it? Brilliant video thank you for your honesty. The huge drops in ad revenue and affiliate marketing will force people to rethink their business strategies. Time is so valuable, as we get a bit older we realise this. I hope you find the time to create what you love doing. We can use TH-cam and social media to capture an audience and gather an email list. Your advice on this and making passive income from digital sales is spot on. 👌

I feel some in society has lost respect for the art (TH-cam, Facebook, instagram, etc). Photography is a skill to be learned and mastered. That is why I love your videos, they educate. Great video, I think that the internet really has done a lot of damage to people, no longer do the same people meet up for a meal or a drink, no longer do they chat on the phone, no longer do we meet to go shopping, while on about shopping, the high street shops are all closed down and boarded up......again because of online shopping, taking away that face to face contact, that one to one.
A couple years ago here in England our local radio station did a survey about what mobile phone are used for, to make a call came about 5 down the list.
It would be good to see people boycott all the online shops and start to go to the high street again, more shops would open, people would get out, meet up once again , so many positives as well as making all the high streets look fresh and alive again, it would create many jobs.
This video really does make one think about what you said.
I learned a lot from your channel over the years, i used to be subbed then i basically just got there and practiced what i had learned and started to make them memories.
