I know this video is 7 months old as I write this, but I just wanted to say THANK YOU for saying you are going to cover different kinds of video equipment and editing software at different price points and skill levels! I'm really new to all this. I just bought my first gimbal (DJI OM 5) and a refurbished Google Pixel 6 Pro, and I want to learn to make the nicest videos I can. At some point I will no doubt get a better computer and want to use a more robust editing program, but at the moment I'm trying out different Android apps I can use on a tablet to edit my videos. It's reassuring to know that I will never "outgrow" this channel, because you are going to have content that will be useful to me at ANY level. Keep up the amazing work! Love your content!

That was timely for me 😄 thank you. I splashed out on a gimbal on Saturday. I couldn't afford one before, so I made do with the one on my Mavic Mini, holding the drone in my hand for horizontal stabilisation, and it was adequate. But the price of the Feiyu Tech VLOG Pocket has dropped from about a hundred to forty quid now. I can justify that with the video I had in mind for it alone - but it's so much better than I expected. My needs had changed, and the gimbal has changed what I can do in future. You're right - the best depends on needs and cost-effectiveness, not wants and dreams.

I also recently tried editing in InSHOT app to post to Instagram. Very BASIC so my friends and family can see what I am doing on vacation. Just started reading your videos. Thanks for the unbiased info. I worked my way up from Brownie 127 camera in the fifties, next a camera that stored on floppy disk, Sony handy cam 8 and Hi 8, iPhone 4,5,6 and a week ago iphone 13 pro max (first wife then myself). Added a Zhiyun smooth 5 gimble too. I was happy with anything I could afford at the time. The iPhones 13 and gimble we are enjoying now. Playing home videos from the 80s (Sony handy cam Hi 8 till pristine condition unused for last 18 years). I have a load of video cine 8 and 35 mm slides inherited from father in law ex RN. from a two year trip to the Antarctic circa 1960’s. Point being I think is that the gear that he used was antique poor by todays standards but I am converting to digital gradually. Whatever suits our budget and gives pleasure is the main thing. My MacBook beats my slide rule and log tables for calculations, but I was glad of the now antiquated stuff and still am of what’s survives.
Once again thank you. Informative as usual. My kit bag this past year has grown somewhat! Lol! My iphone pro max 13+ now has friends! M50 MK1, DJI mini, GOPRO, not forgetting an assortment of lenses, tripods and gimbal. Went for divinci as my editor and am now slowly working my way through a 4 camera system!

Video přesně pro mě. Jsem naprostý amatér a začátečník, snažící se vytvářet videa pro uchovávání vzpomínek a zážitků, prožitých se svou rodinou. Stejně jako Vy, jsem preferoval Android a mobilní telefony Samsung, ale ve snaze docílit kvalitnějších výsledků jsem přešel iP13. Zatím jsem vytvořil pouze jeden videoklip z výletu s rodinou, natočený pouze z ruky a sestříhaný v iMovie. Pro mě jako začátečníka je to pro zatím naprosto dostačující. Navíc nevlastním nikterak výkonný počítač, který by si poradil se střihem videa. Jediné příslušenství, které hodlám v krátké době pořídit, je stabilizátor DJI OM 5. Věřím, ze s tímto setupem si vystačím dlouhý čas a uvidíme, jestli to budu chtít po čase někam posunout. Moc si vážím toho, že profesionálové jako Vy, paní Zdeňko, investují svůj čas do tvorby obsahu a návodů, pro lidi jako jsem já. Na závěr se chci ještě zeptat. Co je to za pouzdro na iP s těmi filtry, které používáte ? Děkuji za odpověď a přeji hodně zdraví a úspěchů 🍀

To pouzdro co používám je od firmy Moment. Mělo by to být pod videem napsané. Já používám objektivy výhradně o nich protože jsou opravdu vysoké kvality. Mockrát zdravím do Čech
You say about DeVinci being too hungry, which I agree with in the main, but if you set up the various proxy’s correctly, there isn’t a real problem with speed. Providing you haven’t got a steam engine for a chip, that is.

Thank you for, once again, an informative and enjoyable video. I chuckle when you pull out your latest iPhone and call it a budget option when it’s the price of a camera lens, or body. I know, I know, we’re all in different boats with different budgets and cameras don’t surf the web or make phone calls. I’m not criticising, it’s just a sign of the times. Personally I opted for a used iPhone and spent the money on camera equipment.

Like you, I was thinking I need to get an iPhone for gimbal software compatibility. Until I started working in 4k 10-bit video. None of the gimbal sofwares support 10-bit video, so I end up with the default phone camera app and default gimbal operation. Then it doesn't matter whether you pick Android or iPHone. They both do 4k 10-bit video!

Like you say, there is no one particular product that is the best. Different products out in the market serve different group of audience and purpose. As an inexperienced video editor I tried a couple different programs and even watched tutorials on how to use them. They were not very user friendly and I just got frustrated. I started using PowerDirector and love how easy it is to use. Very user friendly. Have you done a tutorial on this video editor?
Thank you so much for your videos! I am a novice filming family trips and events. This video just validates the decision I made for a minimal setup watching your other videos and tutorials. I sold my Canon M6 and its accessories and bought an IPhone 13mini (used exclusively for filming). Loaded it with filmic pro. I also bought a Moment case and a Moondoglab filter mount for a VND. I don’t have a need for other lenses at this time. I am also using a Smooth 5 gimbal. I am still using iMovie to make my videos. So far my workflow works. Thanks again!

I tried editing on final cut pro trial version in macbook air, it's complicated and expensive. Lumafusion on M1 iPad pro is great for beginners like me, the screen is big enough, software can export 4k 60fps in H.265 and very convenient

Great episode, but one thing I didn't agree is that a smartphone is more budget friendly. It isn't. The product life a smartphone is roughly between 18-27 months. So if you buy a flagship phone over a 4 year period a camera and good lens works out cheaper in my opinion
@@ZdenkaDarula stille flagship phone is more expensive than a smaller camera + lens. That said. First camera is always a choice itself (I know you are a Pro, but for beginners phone removes the threshold)

Totally I agree with you, my 12 years old daughter is a crack using lumafusion and free or low cost editing apps, while I center in more professional, and I am really a fan of the job she does! But I Would like to make you and anwers Zdenka, please, I have read a lot about that many professionals usually edit in Adobe Premiere but they choose Davinci for the colors in thir workflow because this app is more powerfull in that sense, do you plan all your workflow in Adobe or use different tools according to the time is takes to do what you want, or maybe the easy to use... or something like that? I appreciate how diversified you are! Regarding any question one might have, I do not believe that the is on solution for every person. My iPhone records better video than my DSLR; but I prefer my DSLR for still photography. I have an old 2012 DSLR though.

I had the same problems with Android, but did not want to make the move to iPhones, for other reasons. Luckily, other phones have caught up or surpassed Iphones now. Quite happy with the Vivo X80 pro and the Zhiyun Smooth 5 . My kids of course will only use Apple, but comparisons shows the Vivo to take better videos now to theirs. I film mostly at night so maybe that's why.
I decided to add a GoPro 10 to my video making arsenal and was wondering whether or not you have ever used an action cam for making videos for your channel, and if so, have you made a video on using one and is there one specific action cam that you prefer? Hi, started watching your videos only very recently, and this video represents the exact dilemma I am in right now, and I agree, there isn't a perfect gimbal or the perfect software to use. I personally prefer to use da vinci resolve because it was an option for me as my budget was an issue. I was editing on my smartphone before that, but I realized that in the long term I needed something else, which is why I switched. Watching videos from creators who review and go in depth on different hardware and software has ben incredibly useful for me. Keep up the great work!
I work off the big iPad Pro as a main computer so any apps/programs that I would need to learn would need to be available for it. I do have Affinity Photo and LumaFusion but have yet to learn them.

Hi. I just started playing around with photography and videography for the first time since running around with a camcorder in high school. It's amazing how simple and available the film-making process has become, compared to how film studios used to be. I got a Motorola One Zoom a few years back, because it was a decent phone with a dual-SIM card feature. I just started playing around with the filming features, and so far the camera and the camera app that it came with seem great. I've been hearing a lot about Samsung, but I never hear references to Motorola. I've downloaded the Open Camera app, to orient myself towards filming, but I'm beginning to wonder if my built-in app is better, so I've started using both. Any thoughts on comparing apps? Right now, simple is probably good. I definitely want something that will teach me the basic features. As far as my video editing goes, I'm starting out with OpenShot, but I've already downloaded DaVinci Resolve. 😁👍 And Audacity, and Gimp, and Blender. 😁

For your gimbal round up I'd be extremely interested in hearing how well they all handle heavier devices. I've been reading a bunch of reviews of ones that are made for heavy phones like the 13 Pro Max and they seem to either end up having the motors struggle to work with the device or the battery life is horrible, etc. Plus, well, you have to do your homework to make sure the person actually knew how to work the device they were reviewing. That's why I look forward to your reviews: I know you will learn how to use things before you review and you don't seem to have any biases.

Hhmm my opinion is that there is almost nothing a budget 200 euro smartphone with proper lightning and a few extras like a gimbal can't do that a 5000 euro camera can ! Maybe a little less quallity but up to par ! I find the worst problem with cameras to be stabilisation without a gimbal when moving and weight ! Im already selling my camera to switch to smartphone with lights in my case !
Ďalšie veľmi dobre spracované video. Asi jediná dobrá vec z Korona krízy je že som začal športovať (morský kajak). Časom aj natáčať videá z kajaku s Gopro kamerou (Gopro 9). Postupne som sa dopracoval aj ku Gimbalu (momentálne testujem Moza Mini P) a dronu (DJI Mini 2). Veľký "boj" bol editačný SW. Davinci Resolve je najlepší free SW na editáciu čo som našiel. Avšak mám z neho pocit akoby som sedel v kokpite Boingu 777 (neviem tam toho veľa spraviť a študovať to rok na to žiaľ nemám čas ani chuť). Preto som používal GoPro Studio avšak to zas nevie spracovať video z DJI Mini 2 a preto momentálne skúšam VideoProc Vlogger. Ďakujem za toto a aj ostatné videá. Sú výborne spracované (stručné, vecné a jasné). Pozdravujem z Bratislavy. :)

Video přesně pro mě. Jsem naprostý amatér a začátečník, snažící se vytvářet videa pro uchovávání vzpomínek a zážitků, prožitých se svou rodinou. Stejně jako Vy, jsem preferoval Android a mobilní telefony Samsung, ale ve snaze docílit kvalitnějších výsledků jsem přešel iP13. Zatím jsem vytvořil pouze jeden videoklip z výletu s rodinou, natočený pouze z ruky a sestříhaný v iMovie. Pro mě jako začátečníka je to pro zatím naprosto dostačující. Navíc nevlastním nikterak výkonný počítač, který by si poradil se střihem videa. Jediné příslušenství, které hodlám v krátké době pořídit, je stabilizátor DJI OM 5. Věřím, ze s tímto setupem si vystačím dlouhý čas a uvidíme, jestli to budu chtít po čase někam posunout. Moc si vážím toho, že profesionálové jako Vy, paní Zdeňko, investují svůj čas do tvorby obsahu a návodů, pro lidi jako jsem já. Na závěr se chci ještě zeptat. Co je to za pouzdro na iP s těmi filtry, které používáte ? Děkuji za odpověď a přeji hodně zdraví a úspěchů 🍀

To pouzdro co používám je od firmy Moment. Mělo by to být pod videem napsané. Já používám objektivy výhradně o nich protože jsou opravdu vysoké kvality. Mockrát zdravím do Čech
You say about DeVinci being too hungry, which I agree with in the main, but if you set up the various proxy’s correctly, there isn’t a real problem with speed. Providing you haven’t got a steam engine for a chip, that is.

I know, I know, we’re all in different boats with different budgets and cameras don’t surf the web or make phone calls. I’m not criticising, it’s just a sign of the times. Personally I opted for a used iPhone and spent the money on camera equipment.

Like you, I was thinking I need to get an iPhone for gimbal software compatibility. Until I started working in 4k 10-bit video. None of the gimbal sofwares support 10-bit video, so I end up with the default phone camera app and default gimbal operation. Then it doesn't matter whether you pick Android or iPHone. They both do 4k 10-bit video!

As an inexperienced video editor I tried a couple different programs and even watched tutorials on how to use them. They were not very user friendly and I just got frustrated. I sold my Canon M6 and its accessories and bought an IPhone 13mini (used exclusively for filming). Loaded it with filmic pro. I also bought a Moment case and a Moondoglab filter mount for a VND. I don’t have a need for other lenses at this time. I am also using a Smooth 5 gimbal. I am still using iMovie to make my videos. So far my workflow works. Thanks again!

Great episode, but one thing I didn't agree is that a smartphone is more budget friendly. It isn't. The product life a smartphone is roughly between 18-27 months. So if you buy a flagship phone over a 4 year period a camera and good lens works out cheaper in my opinion
Yes but unfortunately the big cameras also have their lifespan. When I had the Canon m50 I was done with it in 2 years and needed something newer…

Totally I agree with you, my 12 years old daughter is a crack using lumafusion and free or low cost editing apps, while I center in more professional, and I am really a fan of the job she does! But I Would like to make you and anwers Zdenka, please, I have read a lot about that many professionals usually edit in Adobe Premiere but they choose Davinci for the colors in thir workflow because this app is more powerfull in that sense, do you plan all your workflow in Adobe or use different tools according to the time is takes to do what you want, or maybe the easy to use... or something like that? I had the same problems with Android, but did not want to make the move to iPhones, for other reasons. Luckily, other phones have caught up or surpassed Iphones now. Quite happy with the Vivo X80 pro and the Zhiyun Smooth 5 . My kids of course will only use Apple, but comparisons shows the Vivo to take better videos now to theirs. I film mostly at night so maybe that's why.

Hi, started watching your videos only very recently, and this video represents the exact dilemma I am in right now, and I agree, there isn't a perfect gimbal or the perfect software to use. I personally prefer to use da vinci resolve because it was an option for me as my budget was an issue. I was editing on my smartphone before that, but I realized that in the long term I needed something else, which is why I switched. Watching videos from creators who review and go in depth on different hardware and software has ben incredibly useful for me. Keep up the great work!

I work off the big iPad Pro as a main computer so any apps/programs that I would need to learn would need to be available for it. I do have Affinity Photo and LumaFusion but have yet to learn them.

Hi. I just started playing around with photography and videography for the first time since running around with a camcorder in high school. It's amazing how simple and available the film-making process has become, compared to how film studios used to be. I got a Motorola One Zoom a few years back, because it was a decent phone with a dual-SIM card feature. I just started playing around with the filming features, and so far the camera and the camera app that it came with seem great. I've been hearing a lot about Samsung, but I never hear references to Motorola. I've downloaded the Open Camera app, to orient myself towards filming, but I'm beginning to wonder if my built-in app is better, so I've started using both. Any thoughts on comparing apps? Right now, simple is probably good. I definitely want something that will teach me the basic features.
As far as my video editing goes, I'm starting out with OpenShot, but I've already downloaded DaVinci Resolve. 😁👍 And Audacity, and Gimp, and Blender. 😁

For your gimbal round up I'd be extremely interested in hearing how well they all handle heavier devices. I've been reading a bunch of reviews of ones that are made for heavy phones like the 13 Pro Max and they seem to either end up having the motors struggle to work with the device or the battery life is horrible, etc. Plus, well, you have to do your homework to make sure the person actually knew how to work the device they were reviewing. That's why I look forward to your reviews: I know you will learn how to use things before you review and you don't seem to have any biases.
I think the future of the owners of the expensive cameras and video production system is in risk??

To be honest any app or any video editing software works. It’s all about how you match it to the music and how are you put the story together
Hhmm my opinion is that there is almost nothing a budget 200 euro smartphone with proper lightning and a few extras like a gimbal can't do that a 5000 euro camera can ! Maybe a little less quallity but up to par ! I find the worst problem with cameras to be stabilisation without a gimbal when moving and weight ! Im already selling my camera to switch to smartphone with lights in my case !

Ďalšie veľmi dobre spracované video. Asi jediná dobrá vec z Korona krízy je že som začal športovať (morský kajak). Časom aj natáčať videá z kajaku s Gopro kamerou (Gopro 9). Postupne som sa dopracoval aj ku Gimbalu (momentálne testujem Moza Mini P) a dronu (DJI Mini 2).
Veľký "boj" bol editačný SW. Davinci Resolve je najlepší free SW na editáciu čo som našiel. Avšak mám z neho pocit akoby som sedel v kokpite Boingu 777 (neviem tam toho veľa spraviť a študovať to rok na to žiaľ nemám čas ani chuť). Preto som používal GoPro Studio avšak to zas nevie spracovať video z DJI Mini 2 a preto momentálne skúšam VideoProc Vlogger.
Ďakujem za toto a aj ostatné videá. Sú výborne spracované (stručné, vecné a jasné).
